Story
Benson (5 in July) is from a golden doodle breeder in Fort Collins, CO. We got him when he was 8 weeks old. All owners after bringing our puppies home quickly recognized that this litter was full of anxiety. We have spent a lot of money on training, which did help. He loves to chew on his bones and does release anxiety that way. He will chew through even the toughest of toys very quickly. We are looking to downsize our home and Benson needs a yard to run in where he can chase squirrels and play fetch.

What we know: Litter of 8 transferred from Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region in CO. Puppies were surrendered to the shelter at 2 days old after family states the mom ran away, shelter transferred to CPR the same day since they did not have resources to care for them. PLEASE NOTE: I am NOT hypoallergenic, and I shed A LOT! If you are considering adopting me because of my breed, please keep this in mind before submitting an application. From the foster: This boy is going to be real hard to say goodbye to! I have had the honor of fostering Fitz the last 8 weeks since he was just two days old, and he is one special puppy. Fitz knows what he wants and he’ll let you know, too. So, when I knew I wanted to name one of my puppies Fitz, he earned the name because right before it was time to eat, he was always throwing fits. Now, he will let out a tiny whine to let you know he wants to be with you, and he’ll let out a cute little growl or bark when he’s unsure. He’s pretty vocal with his emotions, but hasn’t been a loud puppy at all which keeps it cute! In foster, Fitz has been with his brother, Carson, as well as a resident dog and three cats. His favorite way to play with my dog is pulling on her ears and tail, so she has not been a fan, but he backs off when she tells him to and finds something else to do. With cats, he’ll run up and sniff them before catching bad vibes and running away, so he would live successfully with cats and would probably be very happy with a feline sibling who actually took interest in him. In general, Fitz just loves his people. He’s still a little unsure of new people so puppy socialization in his new home will be important, but boy does he love the people who are his. Fitz is pretty good about entertaining himself with his brother and his toys, but will always check in and hop in my lap to give a quick kiss several times before going back to playtime. He’s the more gentle of the two I have, but he definitely is starting to enjoy the concept of exploring the world teeth-first, so plenty of toys around will help through his velociraptor phase. When unattended, Fitz and his brother are in a playpen attached to a crate and have for the most part mastered that the crate is the sleep space and the pen is the potty space, but he’s still at the age where he’ll happily go potty wherever he pleases. Both boys sleep through the night and wake up with my alarm, but Fitz loves company so prepare yourselves for an adjustment of not sleeping through the night and potentially singing you a song in his first several nights sleeping without his brother. Fitz loves to play with crinkly toys and also loves to always have one big fuzzy toy present to snuggle with while he naps. He’s also a big fan of puppy teething rings. One of Fitz’s favorite playtime activities is demonstrating his superpower of climbing up the first three stairs and then faceplanting down them. The top of the stairs are none of his business, and frankly, neither is his method of getting back down them. This boy is truly something special and if I could keep him, I absolutely would. He is going to make his new family so incredibly happy! www.coloradopuppy.org/how-to-adopt

From the foster: Mugsy Lap puppy at heart and loves his humans so much. But this baby WANTS an older sibling. He is always playing with my older pups and trying to get them to play with him. He seems to almost need an older sibling to be fully happy. He is definitely in his frisky phase and just wants to run and play. But when he’s tuckered out, he wants your lap to curl up in, specifically seeking it out to rest in. These puppies have been socialized with people, kids, dogs and a cat and do amazing with all of them www.coloradopuppy.org/how-to-adopt

PLEASE NOTE: I am NOT hypoallergenic, and I shed A LOT! If you are considering adopting me because of my breed, please keep this in mind before submitting an application. From the foster: This little guy is full of personality once he gets past his initial “I’ve never seen the outside world before” attitude that he’s been putting on display when meeting new people. During playtime, Carson is an absolute spitfire. This guy does zoomies like no one’s business and is a master of stealing shoes, phones, and any other objects in his path and looking adorable while doing it. Carson also loooooves to be under things. If I ever can’t find him, he’s usually under their dog bed or a blanket in their pen, or under my bed when I have them out. His favorite toy is a mini squeaky pig, and he also loves a big fuzzy toy with him to snuggle with when he sleeps. He has also most definitely begun his teeth-first exploration of the world phase, so good toys and chews around to replace hands and clothes will be very helpful to have around. Carson is a relatively quiet puppy, but he does have his moments where he likes to chat. In new places with new people, he’ll let out the least menacing growl and bark possible until he realizes everyone loves him, but more socialization as he gets older as well as new people in a new place (since I’ve had him since 2 days old) will help him be the social butterfly I know he’s destined to be. He howls in the morning with my alarm, and occasionally makes some noise when he wants to come out of the puppy pen, but gives up pretty quickly. I imagine he’ll be a little noisy as he adjusts to alone time being actual alone time and not “with my brother time”, so I wouldn’t expect silence at the start. Since two days old, Carson has been fostered with his brother as well as a resident dog and three cats. He loves to try to play with my dog, but she’s not a huge fan so he usually backs off pretty quickly. He also is very interested in the cats, but understands that they’re not interested in him, so his interactions with them are never more than a quick sniff. He loves pretty much anything he can interact with, so he’d fit pretty seamlessly into any home. When unattended, Carson and his brother are in a playpen attached to a crate and have for the most part mastered that the crate is the sleep space and the pen is the potty space, but he’s still at the age where he’ll happily go potty wherever he pleases. Outside, he immediately goes potty, so with a consistent schedule I think he’ll be very easy to potty train. Carson is the perfect blend of sassy and sweet and his presence sure will be missed in my house. He’s going to bring so much love, laughter, and joy to the lucky family that becomes his! www.coloradopuppy.org/how-to-adopt
