Story

Toby is a 6 year old miniature goldendoodle who we have had since he was a puppy. He has a big, goofy, sassy personality, he loves to explore, run around,& solve puzzles. He's a great snuggler & loves to roll on his back for belly rubs & eat ice. We have discovered he sadly does not do well with young kids and has bitten both of mine (ages 2 and 4). He also doesn't do well with other animals/pets and needs to be the only pet in the home. He is fully house-trained/crate-trained. He has been to obedience school, & knows basic commands but can be stubborn without a treat. He takes an anxiety med daily & requires grooming. He would do best with an experienced dog owner who is willing to dedicate time to continuing training practice with him (even at home). He would also love a fenced yard. Since we plan to continue expanding our family, we have made the difficult decision that it is in Toby's and our kids' best interest to find him a loving, quieter home to live out the rest of his years.

Kobe is a very beautiful and handsome 2-year-old and 64-lb Doodle — but please read his description carefully, as he is a dog that needs consistent training with clear boundaries. Kobe was surrendered by a family with young children and his energy was too much for their growing family. When he first arrived at Pet Rescue, he was full of pent-up energy which resulted in excessive barking, jumping, and mouthiness. One of our volunteers took him under her wing and discovered that the best approach is to calm him first. Speaking to him in a soft, calm voice, petting him with soothing strokes, and rewarding calm behavior has made all the difference. When he is relaxed, he can go for a walk. High-value treats, reassurance, and calm pets help redirect him when passing people and other dogs. Once he trusts you, he is affectionate, calm, and much easier to handle. He walks nicely beside you, does not pull, and shows little reactivity. When he is overstimulated, he becomes jumpy and mouthy. Kobe will need regular exercise where he can run off his energy and then he enjoys quiet affection. He is intelligent, eager to please, and most of all, wants to be part of a family. Kobe is looking for a calm home (without young children) with a consistent daily routine that provides him with structure, boundaries, and exercise. Major is a lovable 60 lb. mini golden doodle. He is 6 and a half years old. He was acquired by my sister-in-law from a breeder during Covid. My sister-in-law passed away two and a half years ago, and Major was very attached to her. She lived with my brother-in-law who has a debilitating illness and unable to keep the dog with him, so we have been fostering Major at our home for the past two months. He is very anxious and needs constant human interaction. He has been through a lot of emotional turbulence and needs a loving home and continuous support. We are looking for someone who is familiar with the breed and committed to continuous training and encouragement for Major. He is really a good boy and just needs some TLC and an understanding of his emotional challenges with ongoing reinforcement and support. We can't keep him as we are busy with elder care and other family commitments, and it is emotionally difficult for us as well because of the memories of my dear sister-in-law.

Say cheese! Meet Cheddar Cheezdoodle! This young man was abandoned locally, his background a mystery and has been a bit of a tough guy to figure out. If you want a doodle because you heard they are easy first dogs who love everyone and everything and are quiet and calm and come fully trained and are basically living stuffed animals... you probably should rethink getting a dog at all, but definitely not this one. He was already neutered and recently groomed but no one came to claim him at the shelter . He is overall an outgoing happy friendly guy who loves adventures and meeting new people. But he has a nervous distrustful side and can get defensive with quick movements and some handling/being picked up, bothered when sleeping or laying down. He will need an experienced adult home that understands dog body language and can learn to work around his quirks and rules. Let sleeping dogs lie and give him his own sleeping space not in your bed. If he steals something out of the garbage instead of chasing and prying his mouth open he gets paid the cheese tax to give it up. Muzzled for vet appointment and grooming and no surprise collar grabbing or picking up. He is smart and a fast learner and expects you to learn his rules if you want him to learn yours. He is talkative and in tune with his people, stares at you and has full conversations like hes trying to desperately communicate something but we arent sure exactly what. Is he hungry? Want a walk? Playtime? Did Timmy fall down the well? . He definitely looks like he was loved and cared for at one point and we wish he could actually talk and tell us his story. He gets along with other dogs though sometimes barks in their face when playing and chases them so some dogs (and people) find him a bit annoying. Mom Goldie is our golden doodle, Dad Hudson our boxweiler (boxer/Rottweiler mix). Brother Copper hit 68 lbs, so she'll grow big and affectionate. Mary is spunky and playful. She'll romp all day, then melt into your lap. Doodle curls on ears and tail, and she's learned to sit. Healthy, happy, raised with people and dogs. No vet care yet; new family handles first checkup and shots. Fee $350 goes to spaying Mom. We ask: prompt first vet visit; spay at your vet's recommended age (beloved pet, never bred); a vet reference; If life ever changes your situation, and you're unable to rehome her on your own you agree to contact us and allow us to take her back or rehome her.
