Story
Meet Superman. 🦴❤️🦸‍♂️Superman spent some time in a foster home over the weekend, and here's what we learned about the amazing companion he is!Superman is a gentle giant with the kind of quiet, dopey charm that sneaks up on you. As a 9 year old senior fella, he’s not into toys or chasing balls. He’s more of a soft bed, full belly, long nap kind of guy. Give him a warm meal (bonus points for scrambled eggs) and he’s genuinely happy.🥹 (We humans could learn a thing or two about happiness from a dog like Superman.)He’s easygoing in the best way. Whatever you’re doing, he’s content to wag along. Car rides? He’s excellent -- always claiming shotgun. Snow and ice? You can miss him with that. Superman prefers to stay tucked in bed, thanks. This sweet boy has been loved before and has clearly lived a full life. Even so, his huge heart still has so much love left to give, and he gives it freely. 🥰 He’s doing well with house and crate training (he slept the full night last night undisturbed) and he seems very friendly and gets along well with the dogs. He does well with men and women and was friendly and sweet with the neighbor’s kids over the weekend as well! Superman is 9 years old and heartworm positive. The good news: MOAS covers his heartworm treatment, but we can’t start it until he’s in a foster or permanent home.If you’ve ever thought about fostering or opening your home to a senior dog who truly appreciates the simple comforts, Superman would be incredibly grateful. And so would we.To set up a meet and greet with Sampson, call the shelter or email coordinator@moaspets.com or apply for him here --> https://www.moaspets.com/adoptionapp Let’s give this good boy the cozy next chapter he deserves. 🐾💙Please call the shelter at (706) 795-2868 to schedule a meet and greet.Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter is a non-profit shelter serving over 720 square miles. Story
Winston is a gentle giant with a heart as big as his 70-pound frame. At 7 years old, this laid back boy is the perfect match for a family looking for a calm, affectionate companion who’s happiest just lounging around the house. We suspect Winston is a mix of Great Dane , which explains both his size and his sweet, loyal nature. While he’s strong, Winston isn’t the high-energy type, he’d much rather nap in a sunny spot, stretch out under your feet, or army crawl across the carpet (one of his favorite things!). He’ll play a little with other dogs, but he tires quickly and is always happy to get back to relaxing. Winston is currently undergoing treatment for heartworms and responding well. He’s neutered, up to date on vaccines, and on monthly preventatives to keep him healthy moving forward. He does well with kids (he loves to be loved) and enjoys canine companions, but he isn’t fond of cats, so his perfect home will be feline free. Winston loves food, soft blankets, and all the affection you’re willing to give, he’s a true cuddlebug at heart. Winston is house and crate trained and finds comfort in napping in his crate when he wants some alone time. Although he is very affectionate, Winston can be quite independent as well. He is a wise older dog that is truly perfect for a family looking for a low maintenance companion. If you're searching for a sweet, low key dog who will bring comfort, companionship, and a whole lot of love into your home, Winston is ready to curl up and be your new best friend. Personality traits Gentle, Independent, Quiet, Curious, Friendly, Couch, Loyal

Story
Snoopy was purchased from a breeder who had an accidental litter. He is a fun, sweet, energetic boy who loves being active and snuggling. He is a large guy (over 110lbs at 9 months) we are unsure how much growing he has left. He is wonderful with kids, loves our daughters, and is very gentle with my one year old. He sometimes does not understand his size and needs to be reminded, but he is very food motivated and has done well with training. We love him, but cannot provide everything he needs. We do not currently have a fenced in yard, and he needs a space to run around. So he needs someone who is willing to walk him often and take him to dog parks, or has a fenced in yard for him to run around. We are sad to see him go, but with our family growing, we don’t have the ability to meet his needs in a way for him to thrive.Snoopy is not fixed yet as it was recommended to us by professionals to wait until he was over a year old for growing purposes.

Story
Ernest came back to the shelter at 12 years old, which is way too old for any pup but definitely for a Great Dane. This guy needs to get out of here and into a home so that he can live out the rest of his life with a loving family. He has recently gone into a short-term foster situation and is doing well with the other dog in the house--we aren't surprised, he did well in his last home too! It has not been too long yet, but he is doing well with the cats too. He has been a little spooked by them, but he steers clear. Ernest is the best boy. He loves meeting people and a good nap.
