Story
💙 Meet Raider 💙 Raider is a 9-month-old Great Dane puppy with a heart as big as his paws. This handsome boy is completely deaf, but don’t tell him that—it doesn’t slow him down one bit. He is an incredibly sweet, affectionate, cuddly boy who loves being close to his people. Raider came to us emaciated and underweight, and at 115 pounds, he is still growing and gaining the weight he needs. Despite a rough start, he has blossomed into a happy, loving puppy and has so much life and love ahead of him. He has been well socialized with dogs, cats, and kids and is doing wonderfully in foster care. Raider is crate trained, potty trained, and while he can be a little sensitive in new situations, he is a playful, loving puppy who continues to gain confidence every day. Because Raider is completely deaf, he requires a home with a physically fenced yard. Experience with deaf dogs and/or giant breeds is preferred. Raider will leave our rescue vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, dewormed, fecal tested, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. Because Raider is a giant breed puppy and needs much more time to grow, he will be adopted on a neuter contract with a refundable deposit, with neuter to be completed at the appropriate age. If you’re looking for a gentle giant in the making and a devoted best friend, Raider may be your boy. 🐾 Applications can be submitted at www.rescuepetsinc.com/adopt. Please note: All dogs in the home must be current on vaccinations, veterinary care, and year-round heartworm and flea/tick prevention. Raider is a very special boy, and due to his unique needs, the application process may take longer than usual as we work to find the best possible match for him.

Story
At just five months old, Rhythm is a Great Dane puppy with oversized paws, a larger-than-life personality, and plenty to say about everything. This handsome boy is a full-time sassy pants who isn’t afraid to use his voice—when Rhythm has an opinion, chances are you’re going to hear it! 😆 He’s already potty trained, crate trained, and is an excellent car rider, making him a great companion for adventures big and small. Smart and eager to learn, Rhythm is still very much a puppy. He’s working on figuring out where the boundaries are and he’s definitely not afraid to test them. Rhythm needs a patient adopter who understands puppy behavior and will set clear, consistent limits. Though his adorable eyes and rascally antics can be hard to resist, Rhythm needs structure and predictable outcomes to help him continue to grow into the amazing adult dog he’s meant to be. Rhythm is playful, full of character, and loves to be the center of attention. So far in his life, he’s spent his days entertaining humans and animals alike, including kids, other dogs and even a fun-loving cat! When he’s not busy being the star of the show, Rhythm loves to plop himself on the lap of his favorite person for some serious snuggle time. He’s looking for a home that’s full of love, committed to continued training, and is ready to embrace all the fun, laughs, and occasional big time attitude that come with raising a young Dane. This boy is equal parts charm, confidence, comedy, and companionship.

Story
Roman is a handsome black Great Dane male. Roman is a sweet boy with the most soulful eyes you have ever seen! He is a gentle boy who attaches quickly to people. Roman enjoys quiet walks with his foster parents and helping out around the house. Walks are getting better w practice on a leash. Roman has a few quirks that he needs his potential adopters to be aware of. - he has bloated, his stomach has been tacked but in situations of high stress he is a bloat risk and will need to be monitored throughout his life - Roman has shown some food and resource guarding with other dogs. He will need to be fed separately from other dogs in the home and any high value food items like treats will need to be fed with dogs separated - Roman is a bit unsure of life and how to live like a "normal" dog. He seeks the guidance of the adult in his life and will need a calm, strong, experienced giant breed owner to help him figure all of this out (rescue experience preferred) - Roman is good with other dogs but is still figuring out how to play, he does best with confident, female dogs - Roman needs SLOW socialization and exposure to new things once he has built trust with his adopter. Our obedience requirement will be critical to Roman's success If you think you could be Roman's perfect family, please read more about adoption and submit an application at www.greatdanerescueinc.com/adopt

Story
Vader is a six-year-old gentleman with a calm spirit and movie-star good looks. He came into rescue after being surrendered when his previous owner was away from home too often to give him the time and care he deserved. Despite the changes in his life, Vader’s heart remains wide open. This soulful boy can’t wait to find his forever home. Vader is friendly, playful, and eager to meet new canine friends. He’s learned to respect limits set by his foster dog siblings and knows when enough play is enough. Like most Danes, Vader has no concept of his size. He embraces the world and meets new people with all the spatial awareness of a moose trying to sneak in to share your recliner. 😉 Vader is affectionate, loyal, and happiest when he’s with his people. He does experience some anxiety when left alone, which is understandable after spending long, lonely days waiting for his original family to return. This boy loves so completely that even short separations from his humans can be difficult. While he can be left to free roam while his humans are gone, Vader’s perfect life includes people that are home most of the time in an environment where he is free to be as near as his heart desires. If he can see or hear you, he wants nothing more than to be close enough to show you all the love in his heart, even if that means simply laying at (or even on!) your feet. Vader is a smart cookie - he knows how to open sliders and turn doorknobs to get them opened. He’s even accidentally locked a door or two trying to open it up. He rides beautifully in the car and knows his basic commands. He’s a strong boy that is still polishing up his leash manners. He has never been crated and isn’t particularly interested in starting now — he much prefers lounging near his humans. Vader is truly a gem — the perfect blend of maturity and lovable goofiness. He is ready to give his whole heart to a family who can give him the time, stability, and love he’s been waiting for.

Story
Gunther found his way back to our rescue through no fault of his own. His previous adopter made the difficult decision to retire and relocate, and felt that a young giant-breed dog was no longer the right fit for their new lifestyle. At just 2 years old, Gunther is a happy, joyful boy who is still learning about the world around him. He had limited exposure to everyday experiences such as walks, meeting other dogs, and routine veterinary visits, so many things are still new to him. Gunther is new to leash manners and will need the assistance of calm, patient humans who will follow through with some professional training to show him the way. Gunther is incredibly eager to please, smart, and highly food-motivated—the perfect combination for success. With patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement, he is sure to blossom. Gunther is always happy and he loves being with his human and “helping” with daily chores like laundry and yard work. Because Gunther can be cautious in unfamiliar situations, slow introductions and gentle guidance are essential. When faced with something that makes him uncomfortable, his instinct is to quietly remove himself rather than react. Gunther also has a history of being intimidated around food by a small dog in his previous home, so he is looking for a home without small dogs where he can feel secure and confident. He is fully potty trained and loves being in his crate. If you’re willing to give this gentle giant the time and support he deserves, Gunther will reward you with loyalty, affection, and plenty of joyful moments.

Story
I’ve had Vinnie since he was a puppy. He is now 1.5 years old. I originally got him with my now ex fiance and am in the middle of moving and unfortunately will not be able to take him with me. I would like him to go to a loving home that can meet his needs, as he is still young and has lots of energy and excitement. While he has lots of energy, he is the goofiest, biggest cuddle bug you’ll ever meet.
