Story

Meet Lorellei! This inquisitive eight-month-old Great Dane mix is 58 pounds of fantastic fun! Light-heated and lovable, Lorellei is truly a joy to hang with. She is very eager to please and did so well for her photo shoot. She is tolerant and curious about the world around her. Looking for a pal to explore the world with? Lorellei could be an ideal match. Give this pup some toys and her playful side is ready to roll! Lorellei recently went on an outing with some of our awesome volunteers! They hit the trail for a 2.5 mile hike. She did well on leash and was great with passing people and pups. Lorellei also loved exploring in the water! She rides well in the car with some assistance getting in. Of course no outing is complete without a special treat. She thoroughly enjoyed her pup cup before heading back to the kennel. As she is still a young lady, Lorellei will benefit from daily exercise, continued training, and a yard to enjoy in her new home. She already knows how to sit and takes her treats well. Due to her size, she will need a capable handler with breed experience to help train her. She enjoys the company of other dogs and could make and excellent pal for another furry friend. Based on our evaluation, we feel Lorellei would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages 12 and up. She may have the potential to live with other animals and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. If you think Lorellei could be the girl for you, head to greatlakesdogrescue.com and submit your application for our good-natured Great Dane!

Story

Meet Goose! This 65-pound Great Dane mix is one dapper dude! He's only nine months old and has a lifetime of love to give! Goose spend some time in a home recently and we are excited to share what we learned about him. He's already house-trained and should be crate-trained as he's still just a puppy. Goose had a blast with the other dog living in the home and was curious about their cats. We feel he could do well in a home with other furry friends! Goose is a great combo of easy-going and fun-loving. He enjoys hanging with volunteers and when he lays his head gently on your lap, you'll wonder how you ever lived without him! He's the ultimate snuggle buddy! Goose had the chance to go on an outing with some of our awesome volunteers. He did need a little help getting in the car, but rode well once he was in. They went on a 2-mile walk and he did excellent on leash. He will need a capable handler due to his size. They encountered plenty of people, pups, and bikes and Goose wasn't bothered by any of them. No outing is complete without a pup cup which he happily devoured before heading back to the rescue. Goose has an undeniable playful side and loves absolutely every type of toy imaginable. Watching him entertain himself tossing toys around will brighten every day. He especially loves to run around in the yard with his favorite green piggy toy. As he is still a young man, Goose will need daily exercise, continued training, and a yard to enjoy in his new home. He already knows how to sit and takes all sorts of treats gently. The family had no issue taking away toys or food. At the end of the day, he slept quietly through the night. Based on our evaluation, we feel Goose would do best in a home with adults or families with kids ages eight and up. He may have the potential to live with other animals and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. If you think he could be the guy for you, head to greatlakesdogrescue.com and submit your application for our goofball Goose!

Story

Pluto is a purebred brindle and white Great Dane. He has been neutered and is up to date on all vaccines, heartworm and stool test. He currently weighs approx 130 pounds. Pluto is a sweet dog that loves everyone. He currently lives with a 93 year old gentleman that rescued him from a neglectful situation. Unfortunatley, Pluto has become too strong and heavy for him. I am looking for an active family or individual without small children that will welcome this big handsome boy into their heart and home for the rest of his life. Dane experience is preferred. Pluto is housebroken, but will need a very strong person to walk him. His adoption fee is $500. A veterinary reference is a must. Story

💙 Meet Raider 💙 Raider is a 1 year old Great Dane with a heart as big as his paws. This handsome boy is completely deaf, but don’t tell him that—it doesn’t slow him down one bit. He is an incredibly sweet, affectionate, cuddly boy who loves being close to his people. Raider came to us emaciated and underweight, and at 137 pounds, he is still growing and gaining the weight he needs. Despite a rough start, he has blossomed into a happy, loving puppy and has so much life and love ahead of him. He has been well socialized with dogs, cats, and kids and is doing wonderfully in foster care. Raider is crate trained, potty trained, and while he can be a little sensitive in new situations, he is a playful, loving puppy who continues to gain confidence every day. Because Raider is completely deaf, he requires a home with a physically fenced yard and another large breed dog. Experience with deaf dogs and/or giant breeds is preferred. Raider is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, dewormed, fecal tested, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention and had a gastropexy. Applications can be submitted at www.rescuepetsinc.com/adopt. Please note: All dogs in the home must be current on vaccinations, veterinary care, and year-round heartworm and flea/tick prevention. Raider is a very special boy, and due to his unique needs, the application process may take longer than usual as we work to find the best possible match for him.
