Hi my name is Gracie and I am 4.5 yrs old and a purebred great dane blue harlequin. I absolutely love spending time with family and following you around everywhere. I love going on walks and like car rides also . I love to run and play . I do great with children and cats. I would probably be better in a home with no other dogs as I can get a little territorial and have gone after my current dog I have grown up with .

Story
Introducing Ares! Smart Loving Charming Courageous  Ares is one half of an extraordinary pair of Great Danes who embody resilience, charm, and boundless love. Ares and his sister, Luna, are ready to embark on a new chapter of their lives with you. This magnificent, white Great Dane has a heart as big as his towering stature. Despite facing life with limited vision and the absence of sound, he has adjusted to life in his foster home well with additional support from his sister. This gentle giant is patiently waiting to shower his forever family with affection. His disability is no obstacle to his spirit or his potential to be a cherished family member. In fact, it's his unique qualities that make him even more endearing. What truly sets this remarkable Great Dane apart is his incredible bond with his sister. Their connection is nothing short of beautiful. These two have a special language of their own, and they lean on each other for support and companionship. Adopting them together will ensure that they continue to thrive in a loving and nurturing home. These two gentle giants can be the perfect addition to your family and can do well in a household with cats and older children. Both dogs are housebroken, crate-trained, and walk well on a leash. Their foster family has also noted they do well during care rides. A physical fence and minimal steps are required due to them having difficulty with hearing and vision. Neither dog has any medical/health concerns, but Ares occasionally requires an ointment for his eye. Are you ready to open your heart and home to this remarkable pair of siblings? If you have already completed the application process and are an approved adopter with UMGDR, please contact Ares & Luna’s Placement Coordinator at callie@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about them. If you are not yet an approved adopter through UMGDR, you must complete our application process before you can be considered to adopt a dog through our rescue. Please visit https://www.thegreatdanerescue.com/adoption-application to complete an application and submit your $25 application fee to begin the process. This awesome duo is currently located in Presque Isle, WI. Since Ares and Luna need to be adopted together, the combined adoption fee is $430.10. ##1579465##

WAITLIST ONLY AT THIS TIME 3/3/24 Introducing Quinn Curious Easy Going Happy Loves People Hey there, I'm Quinn, and I've got a lot to share about myself! First things first, I'm a polite greeter. When I meet new people, I greet them with a happy face and a wagging tail. I absolutely love attention from everyone, and if you leave my sight, I'll be eagerly waiting for you to return so I can lean on you and get even more love. It doesn't matter who you are as long as give me pets. As much as I love people, I'm also content with my own independent time to sleep in peace. I don't need to be glued to you and follow you from room to room. Living with children could be a possibility for me, but they'd need to be able to listen to my signals when I don't want to be disturbed. Currently, I live with two other Great Danes, and I'm part of a structured dog daycare routine. While I'm considered dog-neutral, I'm more interested in toddling around and following the humans to see what they're up to. I'd do well with a respectful dog or as a singular dog. Cats are a bit of a mystery to me, so slow and structured introductions will be necessary. I'm receptive to my name and listen to commands well. I know commands like sit, down, come, back, and kennel. Grooming is a breeze for me, and I do very well with baths, ear cleaning, nail trims, and vet visits. I'm crate-trained and can be kenneled for up to 6 hours at a time, but I do better if I have another canine friend nearby. Although I haven't free-roamed yet, it's thought that I may do well with it. I'm also housebroken. While a physical fence isn't required for my forever home, it's recommended for my safety during playtime. If there's no fence, I'll need to be taken outside on a leash. I'm working on my leash manners, and I do best with a slip lead. Now, there are a few things to note about me. I show signs of resource-guarding with water and food bowls, so I must be fed in my kennel and monitored while drinking from a shared water bowl. I respond quickly to a commanding verbal cue of "leave it" to cease guarding. I love people, going on adventures in the car, napping on the couch with my Dane pals, and kisses on the nose. However, I'm not a fan of noises outside the house or sharing food or water bowls. Health-wise, I'm all good – no issues or concerns. My forever family must continue working on my leash manners. If there's another dog in the home, they should be respectful and understand my cues. Pushy, dominant, or young puppies aren't ideal housemates for me. Finally, apartment and condo complexes may not be the best fit for me as I enjoy barking at noises and people outside. Quinn is a lovable and easy-going companion with eyes that will melt your heart. With the right understanding and guidance, he will continue to thrive in a loving home where he can be cherished for the sweetheart he is. If you're looking for a loyal and affectionate friend, Quinn is waiting to steal your heart! Please reach out to us by following one of the two options below. 1. If you have already completed the adoption or foster application process and are an approved adopter/foster with UMGDR, please contact Quinn’s Placement Coordinator at callie@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about him. 2. If you are not yet an approved adopter through UMGDR, you must complete our application process before you can be considered to adopt a dog through our rescue. Please visit https://www.thegreatdanerescue.com/adoption-application to complete an application and submit your $25 application fee to begin the process. This people-loving Dane is currently located in Sun Prairie, WI. If Quinn’s adoptive family lives in the Madison, WI area, Duncan’s Dog Daycare will give you 3 months of free daycare and training. ##1972571##

Story
Introducing Luna, Sweetheart Cuddly Playful Goofy Hey there, I'm Luna, and I'm ready to tell you all about myself! When you first meet me, I might seem a bit reserved, but give me some time, and I'll warm right up to you. Once I've established trust, I'll be requesting endless affection and cuddles – I just can't get enough of them! I'm quite playful and enjoy interacting with both humans and other canine friends. Zoomies? Oh, you bet! But don't worry, I'm still obedient when told to play nice. Introductions to new people must be slow for me, with time allowed for decompression. Loud noises can startle me, so a quieter home environment would be best. Ear scratches are the way to my heart, and I've done very well living with older children – teenagers are my jam! However, due to my energy level and sensitivity to loud noises, a home with younger children wouldn't be ideal for me. I can show a dominant personality around other dogs, but I'm also capable of being submissive. I love playing and snuggling with my furry friends, and I'm quite smart, too – I don't get distracted or reactive towards other dogs while on walks. Cats? Oh, they're funny creatures. While I usually ignore them, I've been known to imitate them for some humorous photo opportunities! Now, about my forever home – a physical fence isn't a must, but it's definitely recommended to keep me safe while I play and explore. I'm crate-trained and do very well when my foster family is away, but I can also be trusted with free roam. Although I'm very well-mannered, I might occasionally counter-surf if given the chance. But hey, nobody's perfect, right? I'm housebroken and have mastered commands like come, off, and leave it. Sitting has been a bit of a challenge for me, but I'm working hard on it! I love to bump noses to get attention, and while I tend to get very excited and may jump up at times, I'm also working on reducing this behavior. Walks, attention, toys, and playing with other dogs – those are some of my favorite things. However, I strongly dislike going to the vet and currently wear a muzzle during those visits. In new situations or noisy environments, I might struggle a bit, so I'll need a confident and patient leader who can help me through those times. But don't worry, I'm quite adaptable if given time and proper leadership. I'd love to have a forever home with another dog for me to play with and a family who is home more often than not. I'm very smart and will require mental stimulation to keep me happy. My foster family loves all the goofy ways I sit and lay down. While there are some areas I'll need support in, I'll love you with my whole heart and then some! I'm a wonderful balance of wound-up energy and a couch potato, but I will also make an excellent hiking partner! Due to my life experience before meeting my foster family, it'll be necessary to give me some decompression time when I become part of your family. But don't worry, the rescue can offer guidance/resources on decompression to ensure a smooth transition for Luna and her new family. While Luna may need some decompression time when joining a new family, she's ready to shower her forever family with love, loyalty, and endless cuddles. With patience, understanding, and plenty of adventures, Luna is poised to become the perfect hiking partner and cherished member of your family. If you're looking for a loving and playful companion, please follow one of the two options below. 1. If you have already completed the adoption or foster application process and are an approved adopter/foster with UMGDR, please contact Luna’s Placement Coordinator at courtney@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about him. 2. If you are not yet an approved adopter through UMGDR, you must complete our application process before you can be considered to adopt a dog through our rescue. Please visit https://www.thegreatdanerescue.com/adoption-application to complete an application and submit your $25 application fee to begin the process. Introducing Thor, Outgoing Couch Potato Affectionate Endearing Hey there, I'm Thor, and I'm excited to share a bit about myself with you! So, let's start with my forever home. While a physical fence isn't a must, it's definitely recommended to ensure my safety. I enjoy being outdoors and even taught myself how to open sliding doors! I'm crate-trained, but honestly, I do pretty well with free roam when my foster family is out. No need to worry about me causing any trouble – I'm a good boy! When it comes to people, I'm fine with all adults. No jumping or rowdiness here – I like to keep it classy. Recently, I was taken to a pet expo, and I must say, I handled it like a champ. Meeting people is fun and all, but sometimes I just need a break to nap and recharge. Now, children – I haven't been around them much in a home environment, but I did well with them at events. Still, due to my size, it's probably best to steer clear of small children. I'm great with other dogs, though. We'll play and have fun, or just cozy up for a nap on the couch together. Cats are a bit of a mystery to me, so slow and structured introductions will be necessary. I am being trained to be consistent with commands, treats are a big help. Sitting when I come in the house from playing,is how I now enter my foster home. No more bolting into the house at 100 miles an hour for me! l also do well coming when called when playing within a fenced yard. If I am in the middle of a nap, I might just SNORE at you instead of listening right away – sorry! Housebroken? You bet! I will let you know by going to the door and maybe a bark, but I usually sleep all night. And when I am really tired or feeling overwhelmed, I might get a little grumpy with other dogs in my face, but if I just lay down and take a rest it doesn't take me long to be ready to socialize. I do sometimes bark in the house when I hear a noise outside, but I calm down quickly when reassured.  Meeting my humans for pets and hugs when they come home, going on walks (with other dogs or just my humans), playing with toys, and taking naps are a few of my favorite things. Health-wise, I've had a UTI infection before, but it was treated with antibiotics. I also have eyelashes that turn inward, but no treatment is needed – just keeping an eye on them to make sure they aren’t causing me issues. I’m ready to find my forever home and think I'd make a great companion for a family! With his gentle nature and loving personality, Thor is sure to make a wonderful companion for a family seeking a loyal and affectionate pet. Whether he's enjoying a leisurely walk, snuggling on the couch, or simply basking in the company of his humans, Thor is sure to bring joy and happiness to his forever home. If you are ready to welcome Thor into your home, please reach out to us by following one of the two options below. 1. WAITLIST ONLY AT THIS TIME 3/3/24 Introducing Nox, Goofy Affectionate Energetic Resilient Hey there, I'm Nox, but my friends like to call me Noxy Noodle! Let me tell you a bit about myself. While a physical fence isn't a must for my forever home, I should always be leashed when we're out and about. I'm crate-trained and feel most comfortable when my other doggy pals are nearby. Being crated for up to 6 hours is no problem for me, and I've got the whole housebroken thing down too. Now, as for my personality, I'm a people lover through and through. As a former stray, my past is a bit of a mystery, but one thing's for sure – I adore everyone I meet. Seriously, I'll walk right up to you and lean my whole body against you for pets. People always say how incredibly sweet I am, and I can't argue with that! Currently, I'm living it up with some other Great Danes and even hit up a structured dog daycare regularly. I'm a bit of a derpy, rough play partner with my big friends, but I thrive when I'm around playful or tolerant dogs. Cats are a bit of a question mark for me, but I'm doing well with the "leave it" and "back" commands. When it comes to commands, I came in with zero knowledge, but I've been a quick learner. I now know sit, down, leave it, come, back, gentle, kennel, and stay. Grooming? No problem – baths and ear cleanings are right up my alley, though I'm still warming up to nail trims. Leash manners are a work in progress, but I do best with a slip lead. In new places, I can be a little shy at first, but with some repeated exposure and positive experiences, I warm up quickly. I'm an excellent "supervisor" and would happily follow you around the house everywhere you go. You'll never be alone with me around! Food and treats are my absolute favorite, which makes training a breeze. I love napping on the couch with my pals, and cuddling up in bed with my foster mom. Now, about those front legs – they might look a bit different, but they haven't slowed me down one bit. The vet says I likely had some damage to my growth plates when I was younger, but I'm doing just fine. I'd do well in a home with large breed experience, especially if there's a playful or tolerant dog friend for me to romp around with. I've come a long way from being an emaciated stray, and I've got so much love to give to my forever family. Nox would thrive in a loving and attentive home with large breed experience. He'd love to have a playful dog friend to wrestle and play tag with. Nox is ready to embark on the next chapter of his journey with a family who will cherish him unconditionally. If you are ready to welcome Nox into your home, please reach out to us by following one of the two options below. 1. If you have already completed the adoption or foster application process and are an approved adopter/foster with UMGDR, please contact Nox’s Placement Coordinator at lindsay@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about him. 2.
