Story

Hank is a 2 1/2 year old pure bred Great Dane. We have had him since he was 10 weeks old. He’s been in training to be a service dog for our son who has cerebral palsy. While Hank is a wonderful dog, he has flunked out of service training because he cares too much about other dogs. When he sees one, he barks and barks. This is a deal breaker for service training. After 2 1/5 years and three rounds of intense training, Hank needs a new home so our family can find a service dog. Hank is 130 lbs. He is goofy and likes to lie around all day. Hank is not crate trained. He had a bad experience with a trainer and will not stay in a crate. He stays in a room in the house when we leave him alone. He likes to be with you. Someone who wants a shadow would be great. I’m happy to answer any questions. We are looking for someone with big dog experience, this is non negotiable.

Story

Tall Titan, is a strong and remarkable  Warrior,  a dog that has fought to be alive and walking  today on this earth.  He has willed himself to come from the depths of pain and starvation to become this handsome boy that you see right now.  He is our Super Hero Pup and our example of a creature that has never given up even when it would have been easier to just go to sleep and never wake up.    When Titan came to a rescue lady’s house that Critter Cavalry knows, this boy was malnourished and just a skeleton of the puppy he should be as a Great Dane.  The lady has a love for the Danes and she asked CCR to please take him into our rescue before she fell in love and couldn’t let him go.  She had enough dogs and just felt the temptation to keep him was too great.  We agreed and soon Titan was ours to raise and get prepped for a new home and family.  Shortly afterwards his foster family noticed he was struggling to walk and his joints were inflamed. Titan was taken to several vets before receiving the diagnosis of  Hypertrophic osteodystrophy (HOD). He has been put on a regimen of medications, high calorie food and hydrotherapy and is now running, jumping and playing with other dogs. His favorite things to do are play with toys, run and nap in the sun. Titan is a large dog and will do best in a home with another large dog or two that he will be able to play with. He will continue to need medication intermittently for some time and to be followed by a veterinarian.  If you have large breed dog experience and are willing to take on this fellas special needs please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue. He is not house trained to hold longer than 4 hours.  He needs to eat separately at mealtimes and he needs to learn better how to play with his toys in a group setting if there are other dogs.  If he is the only dog then there is no special monitoring.   Titan rides like a champ in the car or truck and he is definitely crate trained with good dog/name recall.  He would be easier to watch in the yard if you had a real physical fence installed since he likes to wander off out of curiosity.   Please email Critter Cavalry at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested.  He is great with young children/boys that are rough and tumble and lots of noise. Hi, I’m Tank, a stunning and smart Dane Lab mix. I’m 1 year old, 70 pounds, and black and white in color. I’m looking for my forever home where I can be your faithful and fun companion. I’m a loyal and loving boy who sticks to you like glue. I come when called, sit for treats and toys, and walk beautifully on a leash. I’m good with children, other dogs, and cats, but I need working on not guarding my food. I am curious about cats but not in an aggressive manner. I’m neutered, vaccinated, and heartworm negative, so I’m healthy and happy. I’m an adventurous and athletic boy who can clear an 8 ft fence in one leap. I like to escape and explore new places, but I don’t run away when you come to get me. I’ll get back in the car to go back home with you. Paige is a sweet girl with the classic Dane temperament. She loves to get on the bed with you and a lap is great place to try and fit. She will look for snacks from places most pups can't reach. We think she might be related to the Hamburglar. as these seem to be her favorite thing to steal. She does well in her crate. Paige is a sweet girl that gets along with most everyone. She loves toys, treats and all the loves! She still has some of that puppy energy and we are working on our leash etiquette. Paige is house and crate trained and does pretty well with general manners (except those darn goodies on the counter). She is looking for a home where she can live an active, happy life.
