Dolly is a 3yr female Great Pyrenees mix at about 85lbs and Dixie (Dolly's daughter) is a 2yr female Great Pyrenees mix at about 56lbs and these girls are looking for their new forever family. They are being surrendered to GRRAND as their people can not financially afford the girls, and sadly feel it is best for them to go to a home where they will get all of the care they need. They are house-trained and have full roam of the house when left alone and they also get along with other dogs. These girls will need a home with a fenced in yard as their Great Pyrenees instincts to protect and patrol are done best in the confines of a secure and safe fenced in yard. These girls have been together since Dixie was born and they are BFF's, so need to stay together. We are told: " Dolly and her daughter Dixie are both sweethearts. Dolly is a mother by nature and wants to lick up and take care of all dogs that come into the house. Her favorite place to be is outside, whereas Dixie loves to be inside. They are both people and dog friendly and I have had a cat and they both were okay with the cat. Dolly has longer hair and has more pyrenees, whereas her daughter Dixie has shorter hair and looks more like a lab." Mindy is a 5ish month old Great Pyr mix puppy who was found with her sibling Lily. Mindy is in a foster home and we are told: "Mindy loves her crate, hangs out in it when she doesn’t have to, doesn’t cry when locked in it and is crate and potty trained already. She has not had a single potty accident since we’ve had her. She’s shy and timid and so sweet. Obviously great with other dogs and cats. We sometimes forget she’s here, she’ll just rest under a chair for hours. Obviously she is still adjusting and will come out of her shell eventually, but she has spoiled us as fosters cause she’s too easy. She’s still timid, and doesn’t like being approached, so it's on her time once she is comfortable. She will move away, so we are just letting her come up to us for pets when she’s feeling brave enough and she’s starting to do it more. She will also follow you but just feels most complete at arms length. She’s super sweet and will no doubt get over this and be very loving, the only thing I we believe is a home with small loud kids constantly trying to go after her is NOT what she is needing. Moses is an 8 week old, male great Pyr mix who has quite a story... A shelter staff member from a KY Regional Animal Shelter called to say she was picking up a puppy that was abandoned in a box at a local tractor supply! When she arrived on scene, she found a very sweet, lovable puffball that was all alone, abandoned in a box. She immediately called a GRRAND volunteer and GRRAND kicked into action. A lovely GRRAND volunteer and foster transported him and agreed to foster.One of GRRAND’s original founding members and long time board member wanted to call him Moses, since Moses was put in a basket and sent down river, his story sung striking similarities. Moses will be needing a secure fenced in yard, as Great Pyrs like to roam and patrol, and they do this best in a safe and secure space. Exercise and direction are a must for these little ones as a tired puppy is a good puppy!! They have boundless amounts of playful energy and need a constant outlet for it! Fred is a 10 month old Great Pyrenees pup that was dumped in a ditch with his sibling Ethel, and found by a good Samaritan. She brought them to her house to clean them up, and had them for 3 weeks trying to find their home, with no one claiming them. She realized she could not keep them and called GRRAND for help as her yard is way too small for 2 big pups like them. Fred is going to be a BIG boy when full grown, so you must be a family ready for a polar bear in your house! These 2 have lived outside and are ready to learn what living in a warm and loving home with lots of TLC and a soft bed and food are all about. We are learning about them so are not sure of their potty training habits just yet, but we will update. The Great Pyrenees love to hang out, roam and patrol their yard, and they do that best in a secure area. They are looking for a secure above ground fenced yard and a family that loves to understand their breed. They have so many similiarities to Goldens, but we suggest you research them to understand how they are different too. Solara and Aurora are 1 year old, female Great Pyrenees littermates who were surrendered to GRRAND by their owners who could not care for them. They came from horribly sad conditions in very rural KY where they had been abandoned along with some chickens and goats. They were filthy, starving, very very thin, and full of matts. But our awesome grooming team trimmed them, bathed them, and now they are showing just how beautiful they are! GRRAND kennel staff says: "Even though they've had a rough start to life, they are so sweet, gentle, and generally adorable! They seem to like other dogs, and are very calm. Solara (Solli) and Aurora (Auri) are just the sweetest pups! Now they've settled at the kennel their true personality is coming; they love attention and are very playful. They are very gentle when taking treats from your hand. Auri loves to play with other dogs; She loves wrestling with Winston, who has about 50 lbs on her! Soli is a little more laid back but still gets along with other kennel dogs. Their coat looks so much better, and they are putting weight on. They have not messed in their kennel run. They are about a year old, and just the cutest big white fluffy pups!" They came to GRRAND flea and tick infested, malnourished, and massive matts all over their beautiful white fur coat. Despite being abandoned these are two adorable, sweet, calm dogs. They have been groomed, getting regular food, warm shelter, and they get a lot of well deserved love at the kennel. Solara is a little less playful than Aurora and prefers to spend time with her human, but she's great with other dogs and will play when the mood takes her. Aurora loves pets too, but loves playing with other dogs. They are gentle, fun, and loving. They take treats gently from your hand and love to be petted. They have not messed in their run, so we are hoping they are housebroken, or at least, almost! We do think these girls can be split up, however, they love each other and will be equally happy getting fostered or adopted together. They will be looking for a family that will have the time and patience to work with them, as they have never known the good life a dog should know... living in a warm and loving house, having a warm bed to sleep on, a family who loves them and are devoted to their care and well being. These girls are very deserving and are waiting for you! They will be needing a home with a secure fenced yard, as Great Pyrenees like to hang outside and roam and patrol and they do this best in a secure environment. There are lots of similarities between Goldens and Great Pyrs, and it may be good to do some research if you are interested in meeting these girls.
