Story
MEET SNOW! - I am in foster, please contact the shelter to meet me, or stop by during my next meet and greet hours, Saturday 2/14 from 1-6PM! Are you looking for your dog`s new best friend? Snow is a social young dog looking for a home with teens and adults only, as well as another active dog to be her built-in buddy. Despite her breed (verified with DNA!) this little lady is only 55lbs, fully grown and much smaller than her ancestors. She spent time in foster where we learned having another dog with a similar playstyle in the home is important for her success. She originally came to us from the south, and the outdoors is her happy place, so she will need a home with a designated confined outdoor area she can spend time in. Snow is truly as special as a snowflake, she gets along with all types of dogs and would even do well in a doggy playgroup or a dog park. She is also incredibly smart, although she is a deaf dog she is learning sign language and already knows several cues! She is looking for a patient and experienced adopter who can provide her with the environment and excercise she needs to be successful in a new home. Check out her video!Snow is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been spayed/neutered, microchipped and seen by our vet team. For more information on Snow or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY. However, we will be unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements.

Story
Meet Oakley! Oakley is approximately a year old, 76 lbs currently (but needs to lose some weight) and he might have some Great Pyrenees or Hound in his mix! He got to be too big for the apartment regulations and had to be surrendered. In his foster home, he is working hard on house-training, crate training, and leash walking. He could go to a home with older dog-savvy kids. He resource guards and needs to be the only animal in an active home. His foster says, `Meet your new best friend, a gentle giant who embodies the perfect blend of adventure and relaxation! This lovable dog adores riding shotgun, eagerly enjoying the sights and sounds of the road. But don’t let his playful nature fool you; he also cherishes quiet moments, happily chewing on his favorite toy or snuggling up on the couch for some quality downtime. With his easygoing demeanor and friendly disposition, he loves everyone he meets, making him an ideal companion for families and individuals alike. If you`re looking for a furry friend who can bring joy and comfort to your life, this big guy is ready to jump into your heart!`He is available for adoption by appointment in Hopkinton, MA. Story
Meet Callie 🌸 Callie is a tenderhearted puppy with a sweet disposition and an affectionate, people-loving personality. This Great Pyrenees/Poodle mix is full of softness, fluff, and gentle charm. Born on October 11, 2025, Callie shares a remarkable rescue story with her siblings. Her poodle mama was found emaciated on a bridge and brought to safety, where she received the care she desperately needed. Just three weeks later, she surprised everyone by giving birth to three beautiful puppies — Callie being one of them. Callie adores people and does wonderfully with other dogs. She loves crawling into laps for cuddles, relaxing alongside her humans, and then bursting into playful puppy romps when it’s time to frolic and explore. She is expected to grow into a large, fluffy dog, so her forever home should be ready for a big companion with an even bigger heart. Callie has received all age-appropriate vetting and is ready to begin her next chapter with a loving family who understands the needs of a growing, large-breed puppy. If you’re looking for a gentle, affectionate pup who will grow into a loyal, fluffy best friend, Callie may be the perfect match. 🐾💕 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at https://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/forms PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN RHODE ISLAND AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED.
