Story
Archie is the biggest lovebug out there! He is a pyrador- Labrador Retriever and Great Pyrenees mix.  He was pulled from Animal Care Services in San Antonio after living on a chain for three years.  He was in pretty rough shape when SNIPSA pulled him.  He was anemic, emaciated and full of fleas and ticks.  He has put on almost 25 lbs since being in foster care the last three months. If you want to see some before and afters of him, follow his Instagram account @archiesrevengetour. He has done great in his foster home and gets along well with his foster sister, an older, grumpy little scruff.  She doesn’t like to play with him, and he is okay with that.  He finds other ways to entertain himself, like throwing the rope in the air and catching it or doing the same with a ball and rolling it around.  He is not overly energetic, but does have spurts of energy where he likes to play.  His foster mom plays tug of war with him or throws his rope for a few minutes and that is usually enough.  He also likes to go on walks in the neighborhood, soak up the sun on a nice day and even walk around on the steps in the pool.    After living on a chain the first three years of his life, he has decided he really prefers the indoors and all that it includes- heating/air conditioning, dog beds, people to give him head scratches and belly rubs, etc.  He is house trained and has great house manners. He is crate trained and goes in on command, but also goes in on his own sometimes for naps.  He walks great on a leash and loads up like a champ for adventures in the car. He is a model patient at the SNIPSA office when he is there for appointments and is not fazed by all the other dogs and cats.  He would be happy in a house with other animals, but would also be happy as an only dog as well.  He is more interested in love and affection from people than playing with other animals. He has some of the best qualities of both the Lab and Pyrenees.  He has the coat of a Lab and he is super smart and eager to please, likes the water and has a very soft mouth.  He has the size of a Pyrenees and has the double dew claws on the back paws, he is not prey driven and tends to take on the protective nature of the Pyrenees. He once alerted the dog sitter to an injured bird at his foster home. Archie will make a great family dog.  If you think that might be you, please complete an application to meet him.
