Zena is a friendly, affectionate, high-energy girl who is always ready for a little fun and adventure. She absolutely loves to run and play, but once the excitement is over, she’s just as happy to settle in beside her people for some serious snuggle time.
Zena would thrive with an active family or person who can give her plenty of exercise, consistency, training, and appropriate outlets for her energy. She’s an enthusiastic girl with lots of love to give, and having a routine and opportunities to stay busy will help her thrive.
Zena is good with kids and enjoys spending time with other dogs, although she can occasionally get a little jealous when she has to share her people. She’s very loving and wants to be close to the people she trusts.
One important thing her future family needs to know is that Zena can jump fences and loves to run. Historically, when she has gotten out, she has returned home, but that is still a risk that her new family will need to prepare for, especially while she is settling into a new environment. A secure setup and careful management will be important to help keep this adventurous girl safe.
Zena is the kind of dog who would love an active lifestyle filled with walks, playtime, and adventures, but she doesn’t need to be “on” all the time. Give her the chance to burn off her energy, and she’ll happily become your snuggly couch companion afterward
Zena is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 8/22/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Visit our Foster to Adopt Program page to learn more. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments.
