Story
Meet Moongmangl! He is the sweetest boyl! He is a 1 year old that was rescued from a shelter before heading to dog meat farm in South Korea.  We have partners we work with there that pull these dogs from the worst horrors imaginable.  Many of these dogs start off in horiffic puppy mill type facilities on tiny rabbit cage size wire crates in complete filth.  If they are not sold at 6 or 8 weeks then they either stay for a couple years to be used to breed more and then are sold off to the meat trade, or they are sold off right away.  Jindo's and Tosa's are the most common meat type dogs, and are very commonly bred specifically for their meat and the meat farms also act as breeding farms until they reach a good age and weight. South Korea is one of the only countries that actually farms dogs for their meat.   Restaurants will serve a dish called " bosintang ", which stands for "dog meat soup". It's a popular dish in South  Korea,  and is said to act as an aphrodisiac for men.    Little dogs are used for elixirs and potions.  The younger generation is mostly against this practice and many choose to not eat them, and we can only hope in time with education and generations of change that an end will come to this horrific trade.  Moongmang and some of his family and friends have been flown here for a chance at a future and a real life.  These are miracle dogs that they are alive today.  Our adoption fee is $600 which helps offset some of the flight costs.  If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application form at  https://form.jotform.com/oscarlucy/dog-adoption-app December 1, 2025, 9:38 pm

Story
Hi, I’m Pancho! I’m a silly, sweet boy who loves spending time with people and other dogs. I enjoy nature walks at a good pace, belly rubs, car rides, and soaking up the sun during my naps. I also like having quiet time in my doggie bed. I love attention and affection, but not in a clingy way. Even though I look like a cuddler, too much physical affection too quickly can overwhelm me. I do best when my humans let me approach first to show I’m ready for cuddles. Life has brought me some big changes recently, and sometimes I feel stressed. I may ask for attention in ways that aren’t ideal, but I never mean harm. With guidance, I’m learning to express myself without nipping and to feel calm and secure. I’ll thrive in a calm home with patient, experienced people who can give me gentle structure and continued training. Please don’t be discouraged by what I’m still learning — what I offer in return is love, loyalty, and a truly special bond. I can’t wait to meet you! If you are interested in meeting Pancho, please download the Adoption Questionnaire, fill it out and email it back to us at info@farescue.org or fax (310) 362-0321. You can also meet this and/or other available dogs at our weekend adoptions. [Pancho is about 3 years old and weighs 16 lbs.] (2504/2509)

Story
Introducing Tessa, a cuddly 1 year old spayed female Havanese and Lhasa Apso Mix who was found as a stray and is now ready for a fresh start. This little lovebug is happiest when she’s hanging out with her person, soaking up affection and bonding time. Tessa is wonderful with kids and dogs, making her an easy addition to just about any family. She’s eager to find a forever home where she’ll be cherished and included in all of life’s cozy moments. We hold an event every weekend at our facility on SATURDAY and SUNDAY 11-5pm and open to the public. It is first come first serve we do not evaluate applications prior to an event. If there are multiple interested parties in the same dog or puppy at the same time we would pick the best out of the 10 applications. Please visit our social media platforms for the specifics for each weekend as it changes from week to week. Please find our application at lovejoyfoundation.org when you come to an event please bring that filled out in hand with you. You can find our application at Lovejoyfoundation.org. Please note a Petfinder and Adoptapet Inquiry is not applying for the dog. You have to come to the event or send an email inquiry to our records email.

Story
Rose is a sweet 9 yr old Havanese Shih Tzu mix. Her previous family used this pretty girl to make puppies for extra cash. When her owner died, she eventually ended up living in a mechanic shop! When we found out about their situation, we immediately sent a volunteer to go and rescue them. Rose is with Rufus, who is possibly her son. Both dogs are very sweet, well behaved and affectionate. Both Rose and Rufus are friendly, and get along well with new people, other dogs and children. Rufus is about 3 yrs old, very sweet, loving and mellow. He gets along well with other dogs, cats and kids. We had him examined by our vet, neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped. Rose is loving senior, about 9 yrs old, and is possibly Rufus' mother. Rose is a Havanese/ Shih Tzu mix. She is healthy, and we have had her spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. Rose gets along well with other dogs and children, but is very interested in cats, so should go to a home that is cat free. Rose has some previously untreated skin issues, but is otherwise healthy. Both dogs are small, well behaved and extremely loving. They are easy going and don't have any destructive habits like digging, barking or chewing. They are content to just be around someone. They grew up as part of a family and will easily fit into any home. They are low energy and would be perfect for a retired person or someone who works from home. We're looking for an foster or adopter in the Southern California area. Please complete our adoption application found on dexterfoundation.com If you cannot foster or adopt, can you share their story? We need a foster home asap!
