Story
Lenox is a 1-year-old, 20-pound Havanese mix with a gentle, sweet personality. He came from a shut down warehouse in Bakersfield where dogs people would often come by to dump dogs. The man there provided kennels and dog houses and did his best to care for them, but he is now being removed from the property. We are helping rehome several of the dogs from there, including sweet Lenox who had shown up there as a stray not too long ago. Lenox is very sweet, gets along well with other dogs, and loves kids. He’s doing great with potty training and isn’t a jumper. As he continues to settle into his foster home, we’re getting to see more of his personality each day. He’s playful, affectionate, and quite the snuggle bug, and we can’t wait for him to find a forever home where he can really shine. ----- Looking to Adopt? Submit a Rescue Questionnaire! Story
Meet Marshall, a male, 1 year old, 14lb, Havanese/Poodle (HavaPoo) mix that came to us from a backyard breeder who no longer wanted him. We took him into our foundation immediately and had him groomed and fully vetted. Marshall is a sweet dog that does take a little time to warm up, so a patient and loving owner is exactly what he needs. We are looking for a home with another dog for and owners that are not gone long hours during the day. A home with a safe and secure yard would be ideal to run around and play in. Marshall is a young dog with so much love to give and we know his perfect forever home is out there! Marshall is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Please contact us at gina@theforgottendog.org or 310-990-2020 We only adopt in So California as an in person meet/greet, home check, and trial are required.

Story
Rose is a sweet 9 yr old Havanese Shih Tzu mix. Her previous family used this pretty girl to make puppies for extra cash. When her owner died, she eventually ended up living in a mechanic shop! When we found out about their situation, we immediately sent a volunteer to go and rescue them. Rose is with Rufus, who is possibly her son. Both dogs are very sweet, well behaved and affectionate. Both Rose and Rufus are friendly, and get along well with new people, other dogs and children. Rufus is about 3 yrs old, very sweet, loving and mellow. He gets along well with other dogs, cats and kids. We had him examined by our vet, neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped. Rose is loving senior, about 9 yrs old, and is possibly Rufus' mother. Rose is a Havanese/ Shih Tzu mix. She is healthy, and we have had her spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. Rose gets along well with other dogs and children, but is very interested in cats, so should go to a home that is cat free. Rose has some previously untreated skin issues, but is otherwise healthy. Both dogs are small, well behaved and extremely loving. They are easy going and don't have any destructive habits like digging, barking or chewing. They are content to just be around someone. They grew up as part of a family and will easily fit into any home. They are low energy and would be perfect for a retired person or someone who works from home. We're looking for an foster or adopter in the Southern California area. Please complete our adoption application found on dexterfoundation.com If you cannot foster or adopt, can you share their story? We need a foster home asap!
