Story
Hi! My name is Oreo. I’m a 1-year-old male Havanese looking for my forever family. Big or small, I’m ready to love you all!   I was surrendered from my previous home and felt pretty anxious during my first week in foster care, but I’ve bounced back quickly and keep improving every day. At first, I spent a lot of time sleeping in my crate (which I feel really safe in! I’m perfectly content there when left alone during the day and sleep quietly in it all night). Now that I’m rested, my sweet, snuggly personality is shining through.   I adore cuddles and scratches and will politely rest my paws or chin on the couch as a hint that I’d like an invitation up. I was slow to warm up to treats, but once I tried them, I decided they’re amazing! I’m still settling in and not quite ready to play with toys, but I love doing zoomies in the yard and frolicking in the snow. I’m fully house-trained; the only accidents I’ve had were early on, before my foster family learned my signals for needing to go out. I walk beautifully on a leash with almost no pulling. I’m gentle and patient with the young kids in my foster home. They carry me around, and I soak up every second of it (I’d happily sleep on their beds if allowed!). I may protest with a few barks when first crated, but I settle down quickly. I haven’t barked at neighbors, passing cars, or anything else outside.   I’m a very good boy and can’t wait to bring my cuddles and joy to your family!   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee:  $625.00Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 8, 2026, 11:11 am

Age: DOB 3/6/24 Weight: 8.5 pounds Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly: Yes Kid friendly: Yes, older considerate kids only Potty trained: Very close, but still has a few accidents Crate trained: Does well left out in the house Irving is a very sweet little toy poodle; Irving is about 18mo old and weights about 8.5lbs. He is neutered, fully vaccinated and has good teeth. He is very shy when you first meet him and will take time to warm up but when he does look out. Irving will need a fenced in yard as he may run and is very shy. He loves to play with toys, people and other dogs. He uses a puppy door to go outside to potty and loves the outside sometimes he doesn't like to come back in unless you go out and get him. Irving is smart, funny and has a foot fetish. He will catch them when you put them up on something and then lets them go. Also, likes to nibble at your ears, neck or your hair but will not bite or hurt you. Irving would be good with shared walls as he rarely barks. He likes to sleep in bed with me and his doggie friends and likes to nap in a puppy bed. Adoption fee: $695

Crate trained: Does well free roam Meet Toby: A Loving Malshi Companion (Maltese Shih Tzu mix) About Me Hi there, I'm Toby! Many people say I have the softest coat of any dog, at least in North America. I have a gentle nature, boundless energy, and a curious mind that loves to explore and learn new things. My favorite moments are when I get treats and belly rubs, which always brighten my day. Favorite Activities Spending time and playing with my foster brofurs and foster mom brings me joy. I am still trying to understand what “toys” are for, as those squeaky ones tend to catch me off guard! I'm not sure if they're supposed to be fun yet, but I enjoy investigating them. One of my favorite roles is keeping my foster mom’s feet warm, especially during cold nights, making me a valuable companion when the temperature drops. Ideal Match My ideal companion would be someone who can match my playful energy and also appreciates quiet, relaxing moments. If you enjoy laughter, playtime, and sharing treats, we could be the perfect match! Adoption fee: $695

Age: around 3 years old Weight: 13.4lbs Dog friendly: yes, requires another dog in his forever home Cat friendly: yes, cats must be dog savvy Kid friendly: older/considerate kids only Potty trained: yes, on a good schedule Crate trained: yes, does well in the crate when left alone REQUIRED: another dog within the home Henry is a sweet playful pup that is eager to join your crew! He is a non-shedding dog (possibly a mix of Maltese and something else?). This pup is shy at first, but warms up and is then eager to get ear scratches and to be near you while you work, sit or prepare a meal. He will even clean up whatever bits you drop on the floor! While at his foster home he has been around older children and done well with everyone. We don't know for sure how he would do with younger children, but he has only been kind and sweet with all people and animals that he has met. If he is unsure he just backs away and gives people space. He is even kind with cats and other dogs. Henry is a relatively quiet dog. He will bark to be let out or in the house and he will greet you with barking when you return home after being away. He has gotten very good at going into a crate to sleep at night and will occasionally seek his crate to sleep in during the day or to get away from the business of the day. He is food motivated which helps with training and motivation. He is always eager for his next meal. Henry will do well with a family that is patient with him while he warms up to you and your home. He will benefit from having another dog in the home so he can easily learn your routines and norms. He prefers to be out in a fenced yard to play, but will also go on walks. This little pup is eager to find his forever family and to start settling in! Adoption fee: $595

Story
Age: 1.5 years Weight: 10lbs Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly: Likely fine Kid friendly: Calm, respectful kids Potty trained: Figuring it out! Crate trained: Yes! Adoption fee: $695 ** PHYSICALLY FENCED YARD AND A COMPANION DOG REQUIRED** Valiente means “brave one,” and this little man lives up to his name every day. At his core, Valiente is sweet, lovable, playful, and full of fun. Like many dogs coming from a puppy mill background, he has an extra layer of caution and initial distrust layered over that happy base personality. This is already melting away with consistency and kindness, and he will continue to thrive with a patient, understanding adopter who lets him move at his own pace. Valiente is learning new skills every day. He has mastered stairs, learned that door thresholds are nothing to fear, and discovered the joy of toys, chew bones, and romping with other dogs. He also enjoys cozy couch snuggles. He loves treats, eats comfortably in front of people, and takes treats directly from a hand. He is still working on potty training and currently wears a belly band during the day to help manage accidents. Now that it got back up into the double digits, he's doing really well with going potty outside. He is not yet leash trained and will need support with that, but he rides very well in the car. At night, he sleeps quietly in an x-pen next to the bed and does great through the night. Valiente recently had a dental, so that is already taken care of for his future family.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Do you want to meet me? I will be at Chuck and Don's in Eden Prairie, 8022 Den Rd, Eden Prairie, MN 55344 for an Adoption Event on Saturday, January 10th from 12:00-2:00 pm. Please email inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com for questions regarding the dogs.      Trilby is a dainty little Havanese with raccoon markings, big feelings, and an even bigger love for her people—once she decides you’re worthy of her tiny royal heart. She’s only been in her foster home for a couple weeks and is still figuring out this whole “world” thing, which, frankly, is a lot. So far, she’s decided that 1–2 humans at a time is the ideal audience, and women are her preferred fan club. If she picks you as her person, she becomes a full-on Velcro shadow who curls up with you on the couch, follows you around the house, and peeks over the back of the sofa like a nervous-but-curious woodland creature waiting for pets. With new people (especially men), Trilby likes to put on her “tiny guard dog” act—growling, barking, and giving her best “absolutely not” face. But under all that suspicion is a sweet girl who desperately wants to feel safe. She’s timid, skittish, and still learning that loud noises, teenagers, and general household chaos do not, in fact, signal the end of days. But give her time and patience, and she starts to bloom. She’s beginning to discover the magic of toys (crinkly ones are her favorite), has learned the joy of zooming around the house, and occasionally takes heroic leaps off the last few stairs because she is dramatic like that. She rides well in the car, does great in her crate, and loves cuddling with her foster mom and the resident 13-year-old girl. Trilby will need a fenced yard, a quiet home, and someone who understands that trust takes time. She’s still working on potty training and basic confidence, and she may always be wary of new people—but for the special person she bonds with, she is pure sweetness, devotion, and couch-snuggling perfection. If you’re looking for a gentle, quirky little companion who will love you fiercely once you earn her trust, Trilby might just be your girl. **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters. Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter. Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized. If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.  T his puppy requires an application fee. This fee must be paid within 24 hours, or your application will be considered void.  We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion.   Puppy Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the puppy. Our goal is to place puppies in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the puppy, we will not approve your application. We accept applications for puppies until we have a candidate that meets all of the requirements needed for the specific puppy and they have been contacted to review the adoption process as well as agree to all of the terms to move forward. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
