Story
Clutch is the kind of dog that makes you feel like the luckiest person in the room, mostly because he's decided you're worth his attention, and he doesn't give that out freely. He's sharp as a tack, food motivated, and picks up training quickly. He knows what he wants and figures out how to get it, which in practice means he's highly trainable and also, occasionally, has escaped his pen. These two things are related. He's not being bad, he's just applying his skills broadly. He's got plenty of energy, but it burns off fast. Once he's had a good run around, he crashes hard. He's great with kids, easy with other dogs (though he has been known to casually steal a more interesting treat from a dog nearby, oops), and has his potty routine down. He'll use a pad when needed, but given the choice, he's a grass guy. Clutch is goofy, clever, and all heart once he's comfortable. We think clutch would fit best in a home with a little patience, lots of love to give, and most importantly, a good sense of humor. -----

A Quick but Important Note to All Adopters:
Please remember that none of our dogs arrive fully trained. Most come from tough or uncertain beginnings and may have never lived in a home or known basic routines. That means:

✧ They are not potty trained on arrival. Most dogs regress in potty training when moving to a new environment.

✧ They may lack basic manners (like leash walking or appropriate chewing).

✧ They’re learning, growing, and doing their best—but they will need patience, structure, and compassion to succeed.

The majority of these pups have lived in the confinement of a cage or kennel run for most - if not all - of their lives. Because of this, we strongly discourage the use of crates for anything other than vehicle transport. They deserve the chance to decompress and learn what true freedom and comfort feel like.

Our amazing foster homes work hard to start these dogs on the right path, but they are rescues, not finished products. These dogs need time, consistency, and a loving home willing to meet them where they are.

Also, breed designations are our best guesses based on appearance and behavior. We can't guarantee breed, size, adult weight, or coat type.

The adoption fee is due on the day of adoption in the form of a check, Zelle, PayPal, if using PayPal the potential adopter will have to pay the fees & charges with PayPal. Talk about right time & right place. In an extremely busy well known park located on a busy road in China, Matt was found running around & on the road & was almost hit & killed. Our rescuer was there on a walk enjoying her day when she seen Matt almost get killed & hit by a car. She tried all over the park to see if anyone was missing Matt & searched & searched but no one come forward for him so they believe he was abandoned in the park. Now Matt is looking for a special family to cherish him & be patient with him & remember what this beautiful soul has been through & a family that meets all his needs. Matt was rescued by our truly amazing Chinese rescue friends & just as always we are beyond grateful to the Chinese rescue who we are so extremely thankful for what they do day in & day out for these babies, we cannot thank them enough. Matt was bought back to the USA where he is now a US citizen & is so happy to be here & can’t wait to find his new loving devoted forever home. Our beautiful boy is not the boy we first rescued, his lovely personality has now come out & he is flourishing. Matt brings so much joy & peace. He is a very gentle patient little soul. He just wants you to love him & he will love you back. He adores being hugged & held because the reality is we are the first real people in his life to show him such true love & affection. He also can be found laying on his foster mums feet when she is sitting on the couch. When he finds people who love him they become his world. He is a very spirited & bouncy mini doodle love his foster mum & dad said he is just so lovely & can jump on the couch to cuddle either you. He is smart & can run up & down hardwood stairs. He will also want to cuddle in bed with you. He loves to run & play with his foster siblings & must go to a home with a young dog who will play with him & doesn’t mind him nudging him to play with him. Dogs are his world. He loves a good outfit & will get ready for you to put one on him. Matt eats a clean diet, meaning raw fruits, raw vegetables, 70 % raw proteins, grains, fats & supplements. He also enjoys collagen sticks & bully sticks. All of his treats are homemade. When we first rescued him he was thin, we have already put several pounds on this adorable little chap. Matt has been taught to walk on harness & leash & has been doing wonderful. He would need continued work walking on his harness & leash. Matt is a rescue & will need patience, time & understanding. Matt adores being pampered & doesn’t want you to stop when brushing him, cleaning his eyes, grooming him, baths, the hairdryer he loves it all. He also does extremely well being touched in general & adores receiving love. Having toys & a warm bed is all new to Matt & we have been excited to change his world with the introduction of toys & lots of love & affection & a loving environment. He now loves his toys in his foster home. Matt has learnt to ride in the car & does well in the car & enjoys a good car ride. He is such an amazing, loving little lad. With Matt we are only looking for a crate free home for this lovely little lad only. Please do not apply with the intent to crate this boy. He does not like crates especially after everything he has been through. We are also looking for a forever home for Matt where someone is home during the day or Matt can go with his people wherever possibly he can go with them. Did we mention this boy loves a good outfit too. Matt is looking for a forever home who will cherish him & love him as he should be loved & be very patient with him & understanding. Matt has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes & he is currently with other dogs & enjoys their company in his loving foster home. He can be found at times snuggled up to his foster siblings. A fully fenced backyard is mandatory for Matt’s new forever home if it’s a free standing home. Matt is now roughly 22 lbs & almost 2 years old & possibly a havapoo & what he is mixed with we are not sure? He is microchipped, up to date on his shots including DHLPP, rabies & dewormed. Once these shots expire we will not redo them except rabies as we will not over vaccinate our beloved dogs. We have spent over $2000 on Matt with bringing him to the US with his travel airfare paying for his medical care, including, shots, neuter microchip etc, than his adoption fee comes close to covering. Matt has not been around cats since being in the rescue but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals. We have not had Matt with small children so we do not recommend children, but it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children & animals. We were not there when Matt was conceived so we do not know who his parents were & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think his breed is. As with all of our rescues & Matt’s friends he will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. Please do not email us asking is Matt potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond. We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training in their new home will in fact take them to training & not just say they will when applying. Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Matt & going through our process and have read his listing fully to the end & are wanting to adopt. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on & remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a virtual home visit using Zoom followed by a meet and greet & if it’s a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Matt who understands his needs & that meet all the requirements for this lovely sweet boy. Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. Matt has an adoption fee of $885 & is ready for his truly loving forever home & compassion & understanding of what he has been through.

Story
Marnie is a recent mom who is now looking for that special forever home. She is a cautious girl who needs a little time to decide to engage with you. She must have a fenced yard, as she will not go to the bathroom while on a leash. We believe she may have suffered past trauma related to leashes, so walking on one is not currently an activity she can do. Marnie has perfect house manners and plays well with all her toys. She also gets along well with small dogs, though she has not yet been around big dogs or children under 10 years of age. She is a loving little dog who wants nothing more than to sit by your side and have you stroke her head for as long as you are willing. She loves being with her person but is not a shadow dog. She rides well in the car and is okay being left alone for short periods of time while she is fine with cats. (An adoption fee of $500 is required.) If you are interested in this dog, please go to the Adopt page of our website where you will find a link to an adoption application form. https://www.chewdogrescue.org/adopt If you have previously submitted an application form to CHEW, there is no need to reapply. Just let us know you're interested in this dog. We do our best to match families and dogs so everyone is pleased and the placement is permanent. We reserve the right to refuse an applicant if the home situation is incompatible with the needs of the rescue dog. Rescue is about doing our best for the dog. We do home and reference checks. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and are up to date with current vaccinations before being placed in their forever homes.

🌼Meet Yeonu— Once Abandoned, Now Happy, Hopeful, and Ready for a Forever Family! Here are more photos and videos of Yeonu: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DTHefmckcPj/?igsh=amdoajdkdTM0ZWJh Yeonu was abandoned this winter in a village in Icheon, Korea. After someone reported him, he was taken to a shelter and placed on the euthanasia list. Fortunately, he was rescued and is currently being cared for by his foster family. However, his time there will be for a short time, as they are unable to foster him for too long. He would love to come to the Seattle area to meet his forever family! Name: Yeonu Breed:Bichon Frise Estimated Age: 4 years 3 months Gender: Male Weight: 20 lbs Spayed/Neutered: Yes Energy Level: 3–4 Yeonu loves plushie toys and enjoys playing fetch when toys with them. Otherwise, he is generally calm and relaxed. On walks, he does not show excessive or reactive behavior. At dog parks, he does not run wildly or rush other dogs. Instead, he greets politely and calmly explores the environment on his own. Good with dogs? Yes, Yeonu gets along well with most dogs. He greets dogs he meets on walks with a wagging tail. At dog parks, he sniffs and says hello politely but does not actively engage in rough or energetic play. He seems to have a more introverted personality. Good with cats? Unknown. Good with kids? Gentle children Sociability with people: Friendly with everyone When Yeonu first arrived at his foster home, he approached each family member sitting in the living room one by one to greet them. He may bark briefly at unfamiliar sounds outside or if someone suddenly appears wearing dark clothing, but he calms down quickly. He approaches strangers happily and wags his tail. Potty trained? Yes. Both on wee wee pads and outdoors. Leash manners: Yes. He may pull a little at the start while sniffing and marking, but it’s easy to manage. After a short time, he usually matches his handler’s pace and walks calmly. Barking: He may bark briefly at unfamiliar sounds but stops quickly when reassured. Separation anxiety: Yes. Yeonu has difficulty being completely alone and may bark or howl when left by himself. If at least one person is home, he does well, though he may whine briefly when his primary caregiver leaves and then settles. Mouthiness/nipping: No aggressive behavior. He loves plushy toys and gently mouths them during play. He takes treats well from an open palm, but when offered with fingertips, he may grab eagerly and accidentally catch fingers. Behavior: Occasionally, he may wake up and bark at a sound in the house, but he calms quickly when reassured. Aside from separation anxiety, no major behavioral issues have been observed. Health Notes: X-rays show a possible issue with the left hip. He has mild patellar luxation, with the right knee graded 2 and the left knee graded 1. When he was rescued, he had kennel cough and mycoplasma, completed treatment, and has fully recovered. Additional Notes: He rides calmly in the car and has been comfortable on rides up to 2 hours. He is comfortable in a dog stroller and relaxes in it. He loves treats very much and sometimes needs calming cues like “sit” before receiving them. He enjoys being petted and likes staying close to people he loves, but he is also comfortable resting on his own at a short distance. When people are eating foods he does not recognize as his own, he calmly lies down under the table or nearby. He enjoys fruits and vegetables such as apples, lettuce, and sweet potatoes. When people become excited, dance, or jump around, he gets excited and may attempt mounting behavior by holding onto legs. He behaves very well during grooming. He has completed hygiene grooming sessions of about 40 minutes. He was slightly sensitive during nail trimming but manageable. Ideal home: A family where at least one person can spend most of the day with him. Additional Comments Yeonu was very attached to his foster mom at first and became anxious when she left, even if others were home. With time and some distance created, he improved a lot. After 3–4 weeks, he only whines briefly when she leaves, though being completely alone is still hard for him. Despite this, he is a very relaxed and easygoing dog. The day after arriving, he was already comfortable lying on the sofa, sleeping on his back with his belly up. He accepts baths calmly, though he may shake off water once or twice. He doesn’t like the hair dryer, but will stay still if it’s on a stand and he’s brushed while drying. Tooth brushing is still being trained; he doesn’t enjoy it but tolerates it well without growling or biting. He knows several commands, including sit, paw, high five, nose touch, V sign, and wait. Food allergies have not been confirmed. Like many Bichon-type dogs, he has tear staining that causes discoloration around his mouth and paws. With proper care and identifying the allergens, this should improve over time. He will also need regular maintenance and grooming, like most Bichons. 🌼Yeonu is a sweetheart and is ready to find his forever family to shower him with love and cuddles!💖 For adoption inquiries, please email/ fill out an adoption application via our link on our instagram bio.🌸

Story
Floki was adopted by our adult daughter in Virginia some 10 years ago, and had been abused at the time. Since she relocated to Seattle, he has become a lovable companion for her, but she has recently had changes in her personal life that result in her having to move to a location that will not allow pets. Floki lived with us for some time before, and is now living here, and is a joy to have. I walk him three times a day, just arounjd the block, and he really is a joy. However my wife and i are 79, and we already have our own pets, and we just can't really provide Floki with the life he deserves. He likes people, other dogs (if they are not too aggressive), and kids, but due to his size, he is always a bit skittish at first. However his has been a great companion for me, and for our other pets. He is not that young, but we want to find a good home for him to spend his remaining years. He is very healthy and fun to be with. if you are looking for that kind of "friend," contact us.

Story
Meet Flash! Hi there! My name is Flash, and I’m a 10-year-old, 12-pound Lhasa Apso (or something close to it!) with a big personality packed into a little body. I’m a social guy who truly loves everyone I meet—no warm-up period needed! I’ve been around children ages four and up and do great with them. In fact, one of my favorite parts of the day is when the kids get home from school—I get so excited to see them and join in on the fun! I’m a well-mannered gentleman with great house habits. I’m house trained and prefer lounging on my cozy dog bed over spending time in a crate. I walk nicely on a leash and really enjoy getting out for strolls where I can take my time sniffing, exploring, and checking out the world around me. I even like water, so maybe there are some beach adventures in my future! When it comes to other dogs, I do best with calm, respectful companions. Dogs that are too dominant or “in your face” can make me a little nervous, so I’d love a laid-back canine friend—or to be your one and only. My vision isn’t perfect, but don’t worry—I get around just fine! I may see shadows here and there, but I navigate my world confidently and don’t bump into things. I’m neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped, so I’m all set for my next chapter. If you’re looking for a sweet, friendly, easygoing companion to share your days with, I might just be your guy. I came into rescue after a nice lady kept seeing me tied up outside a local tire shop. I would just lay on the concrete all day. My new people talked the owner of the tire shop into letting me have a better life by finding a new family. That was no way for me to live. Interested in adopting Flash? Please email adopt@thezoeygroup.com for more information and application details.
