Story
Meet Baby, a 7-month-old Husky mix with a heart as big as her puppy eyes. Baby is truly as sweet as her name suggests. She loves being around people and absolutely soaks up affection. The more pets, the better! She’ll happily sit like a perfect lady for treats and takes them ever so gently, showing off both her manners and her soft nature. For a young pup, Baby is easier to walk on a leash, making strolls around the neighborhood a joy. She has also done well with other dogs and could potentially share her forever home with a canine sibling, as long as it’s the right match. If you’re looking for a loving, loyal companion to grow with your family, Baby just might be the one. Could this sweet girl be your perfect match?

Story
Shayla is a 7-month-old Husky mix who is ready to find an active, loving forever home. True to her breed, this girl is smart, energetic, and always ready for adventure. She’ll thrive with a family that can keep both her mind and body busy with exercise, enrichment, and continued training. Like many young pups, Shayla is still working on her manners. She can be a little jumpy and occasionally mouthy when she gets excited, so a home without young children would be the best fit for her right now. She is incredibly sweet at heart, the busy shelter environment just has her extra amped up. In a calmer home setting, we know she’ll settle in beautifully. Being the typical Husky she is, Shayla does have some escape artist tendencies and can dig under fencing if left unattended. She’ll need supervision outdoors and shouldn’t be left alone outside for long periods. A secure yard and committed owner will set her up for success. If you’re looking for a fun loving, adventurous companion who will keep life exciting, Shayla might just be your girl.

Story
Nikita has been with me since she was 3 months old. Her birthday is September 4th. She is an incredibly loving, affectionate dog who thrives on attention and connection. She loves walks, playtime, and chewing on bones. She has a lot of energy and would do best in a home that can give her plenty of exercise and engagement. She has been around other dogs and has never had any aggression issues. She is very curious and playful, sometimes overenthusiastic, but always wants to interact and have fun. She has also been around children without any aggression. She just doesn’t always understand her size and excitement level. Nikita does have some anxiety and needs patience and structure. She truly bonds deeply with her person and wants to be involved in everything. With my current work schedule and raising a toddler, I am no longer able to give her the time, stimulation, and attention she deserves. I can meet her basic needs, but she deserves more than that.

Story
&#226&#156&#168 Why Hasn’t Gigi Been Adopted? &#226&#156&#168 (Spoiler: It’s not because of her.) Sometimes the best dogs wait the longest — not because they aren’t wonderful, but because they’re waiting for the right home. After 3 YEARS in rescue, we want to answer the question we hear the most: &#226&#157&#147 “Why hasn’t she been adopted yet?” Myth: Something must be wrong with her. Truth: Gigi is sweet, affectionate, loyal, and deeply bonded to her people. Here’s who she really is: Cuddle Bug — She loves climbing on the couch and laying close to her person. Belly Rub Champion — Roll over = automatic request for love. Adventure Ready — Walk days are her favorite days. Playful — Loves chasing balls and sometimes brings them back for more. Loyal & Protective — She wants to keep her home safe (very normal for her breed mix). Smart & Observant — Once she learns someone belongs, she relaxes beautifully. She lives with another dog now and does well with proper introductions and structure. What she needs &#226&#156&#148&#239&#184&#143 A calmer household &#226&#156&#148&#239&#184&#143 Adults or older respectful kids &#226&#156&#148&#239&#184&#143 Someone who wants a true companion &#226&#156&#148&#239&#184&#143 A family who understands loyalty is a gift Dogs like Gigi don’t love halfway. They love completely. And when she chooses you — you’ll know. Northwest Indiana &#226&#156&#133 Fully vetted 4-5 years old Apply to adopt: http://jotform.us/form/43196636952162 Please share — her family might be one share away. Three years is long enough. It’s her turn. #AdoptGigi #LongTermRescue #MythBuster #AdoptDontShop #GuardiansOfTheGreenMileThank you for your interest in adopting a pet from Guardians of the Green Mile Inc. We are a group of individuals that have come together to save the lives of animals that are in danger of being euthanized. We raise funds to fully vet the animals and to provide them with a stable home until they are adopted. All of the dogs in our Rescue are in Foster homes while they are looking for their forever family. The only time we put a dog in boarding is for a Foster to go on vacation if another Foster is not able to care for them. We appreciate your taking the time to fill out the application to adopt one of our Guardians of the Green Mile pets. The questions that we ask are to only find the right fit for all of our dogs and the families that will be adopting them. Adoption donation is $300.00 for dogs over 1 year old and $350 with a $50.00 spay / neuter deposit for puppies/dogs under 1 year old.
