Beauty that sizzles! Fajita is really something and so pretty! Her initial shyness was minor, and her playful side peeked through within minutes of meeting her. Fajita is young but already knows a few commands. She loves treats as much as she loves attention. She is just as sweet as she is beautiful. Chicago Animal Care and Control is located at 2741 S. Western Ave., Chicago, IL, and is open from 12pm to 7pm daily. Walk-in visitors are welcome and helped on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are planning to adopt the day you visit, please plan to arrive before 5:30pm. Visitors arriving after 5:30pm will still be able to view animals in Pavilions A-B-C until 7pm. All dogs will be spayed/neutered and vaccinated before adoption. All household members should be present to meet dogs (especially those under 18 and any decision-makers). We recommend and can arrange dog-to-dog meet and greets for your current dog(s) to meet a potential dog sibling at the shelter. You will need to show proof of up-to-date rabies vaccination for your dog(s). Slow, cautious, and appropriate introductions are recommended after you allow time for decompression for the shelter dog. Still terrified. Still healing. She quietly hides in her kennel and runs away outside. Amyrlin went through some trauma before the shelter. We don’t know what but she had injuries to her side and face. She is shell shocked and searching for a way out. Amyrlin will accept love and pets once she tires out (or we catch her). We see that really sweet girl hiding under her nerves. Amyrlin needs safety and decompression in a home, not a kennel. Chicago Animal Care and Control is located at 2741 S. He is a calm, steady walker who completely ignores passing people and other dogs. He does have two funny quirks to look out for: he loves to inspect and try to pick up sidewalk trash, so his handler needs to keep an eye out for street debris. Also, if you stop moving, he likes to jump up on you for some quick attention, but he immediately stops and gets right back to business as soon as you keep walking.Stay tuned for details as we get to know them better! Limburger`s adoption fee is $350, and this wonderful boy is so excited to find a new best friend!

Story
Ryder is a striking 2-year-old German Shepherd Malamute mix who was recently surrendered to our center after his previous guardians felt they could no longer manage his behavior. While he initially presents as aggressive, we believe much of what we’re seeing may be rooted in fear and confusion from losing his home and being in an unfamiliar environment. Ryder is still learning how to navigate his new surroundings, and we’re hopeful that with time, patience, and the right person committed to working with him, he’ll begin to feel safe enough to show his true self. He deserves a chance with someone who won’t give up on him.
