Story
We rescued him in December 2024. We were told he’s husky / Doberman (though we don’t see much Doberman at all). He’s GREAT with kids (we have a 2 & 5 year old). He loves playing with other dogs. We honestly are just too busy to work with him and train him like he needs to be. He IS crate trained and is good for 10 or so hours while we are at work. At night, he sleeps on his dog bed in our room. He is a good boy and we hope to find a better home for him… with someone or a family who can give him the time and attention he needs.

Story
Holly is a beautiful, playful, fun, affectionate, smart and sometimes stubborn, three or four-year-old, 56-pound, female black and white Husky/Lab-mix looking for a loving guardian. Holly is perfectly housetrained and crate-trained. She knows the commands sit, down, paw, other paw and roll-over. She loves to show off all her tricks! She’s fine as an apartment or condo dog or in a house. She’s typically quiet unless she needs to communicate with you. She does have a strong fun personality and she’s a very smart girl. Holly thinks she’s a snuggly lap dog and LOVES to play ball, or zoom around the yard. In the home, she settles down nicely. She often finds stray tennis balls on her daily walks to bring home. She gives kisses and absolutely adores her people. She loves her leashed walks, is absolutely phenomenal in the car. She’s also very good with other dogs. She does have a high prey drive so no cats for her … and she hunts down bunnies and birds on walks. Found as a stray, she was dropped off at Chicago Animal Control and taken in by Friends of Petraits Rescue. Holly is very healthy, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on rabies, distemper, bordetella and leptospirosis vaccines. She is fecal and heartworm tested negative, and on monthly preventative. Her adoption fee of $150 benefits the rescued pets of Friends of Petraits Rescue. If you are interested in meeting and possibly fostering or adopting Holly, please fill in an adoption application at https://friendsofpetraits.com/dog-adoption-application/ and follow up by contacting friendsofpetraits@gmail.com to make an appointment to meet her. She is currently being fostered in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood. Holly comes complete with her food, leash, collar, and absolutely everything you need to care for her!

Story
Maybel — short for Maybelline — is a stunning 10-month-old girl with the most striking blue eyes that look like she’s wearing perfect eyeliner all the time. At around 50 pounds, she’s the perfect mix of playful puppy energy and sweet, affectionate companionship. She’s incredibly smart, eager to learn, and already doing wonderfully with potty training and leash training. Maybel is great with other dogs and has such a loving, gentle personality once she feels safe and comfortable. Like many rescue dogs, she can be a little hesitant around men at first, but with patience and kindness she quickly begins to open up and show her sweet, goofy side. Maybel is looking for a family that will continue helping her build confidence and show her that the world can be a safe, loving place. In return, she’ll give endless loyalty, cuddles, and those unforgettable blue-eyed stares.

Story
Rose is a gentle soul who takes her time getting to know new people, but once she feels safe, her sweet and loyal nature really begins to shine! She’s most comfortable when given space to settle in at her own pace, and she feels more at ease with people she’s had the chance to build trust with. Rose may need a few visits to truly warm up, but for the right person or family, she’s well worth the wait! She’s not particularly interested in toys or treats, but if you’ve got hotdogs, you might just be her new best friend! Rose is looking for a patient and loving home that will give her the time she needs to feel comfortable, and in return she’ll give you her whole entire heart! Weight: 47 lbs Spayed/Neutered: Yes! Up to date on vaccines: Yes! Microchipped: Yes! Housebroken: Yes! They will potty outside every time or nearly every time (rarely has accidents). Crate-trained: Yes! They will settle in the crate easily and are comfortable staying in it for 4+ hours. Leash behavior: Good! They enjoy walks and are easy to handle while on leash. Dog sociability: They like them! They enjoy the company of dog friends, but would be just as happy to be an only dog in the home. Cat sociability: Unknown! They have never met another dog while in foster care. Kid sociability: No kids, please! They are afraid of kids or reactive toward them, or they have a history of behaviors that make them incompatible with children. Likes: Hot dogs, walkies, being a silly goose Dislikes: Sharing If you’d like to meet Rose, please fill out an adoption application at animalcareleague.org/adoptions and send us an email at adoption@animalcareleague.org!
