Story
Beautiful 8 year old Huskey looking for a new home. I recently got married and combined both our pet households into one. She went from living in a in a single dog household to living with another dog and a cat. This as been a new challenge for her as she has been a solo dog for almost her entire life and has never had to share, with the exception being the first few weeks after she was born. There has been some aggressive moments with the other dog, mostly when it comes to food. While this could probably be corrected by a behavior specialist, we lack the money our time to afford one. As a father of a new born I can also confirm that she is good with kids. Looking for a family that is ready to welcome a friendly energetic dog or has the time or money to train her so she understand that not all food on the ground is hers.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. INTERESTED IN ADOPTING BARNEY?  Please submit a Best Friend Pet Adoption  application right away!  https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC .     EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Barney is a gorgeous 5 yo husky mix who has a lot of energy.  He will do best with a very active family and needs a fenced in yard.  He likes his walks and loves to play.    Barney would do well as an only dog or could live with another dog who can match is playfulness.  He would not do well with older dogs since he wants to play too much.     Barney is very strong and might be too active for very young children. He has not been around cats.  He is crate trained and housebroken.    If you have a fenced yard and love to walk, run and be on the go, Barney would be a great fit for your family.  He does enjoy car rides and would be ready for new adventures.   Please consider giving this great dog his forever home.     Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.    Applicants must live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore require applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC.   INTERESTED IN ADOPTING BARNEY? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. You MUST complete a Best Friend Pet Adoption application if you are interested in Tesla.  The application link is below or at bfpa.org.      Tesla (Tes) is an exuberant and friendly girl who craves attention from all who are nearby whether they be human, dog, or cat.  Tes is full grown at approximately 65 lbs and seems to be a husky, shepherd, and labrador cross.   She does best with dogs of similar size or larger, with similar play style and high energy level.  She learned to be respectful of her smaller foster sibling, but could be insistent in pawing at him in attempts to get him to play.  She enjoys running full out in the yard, chasing her canine siblings and playing tag behind the trees.  Tes may be okay as an only dog if crated when left alone, as she can have some separation anxiety.  She may be more vocal for longer without the support of a canine sibling in the absence of her people.  As an only dog, she would need an avid daily runner with multiple walks per day and a large fenced yard.  Tes does well with dog friendly cats, but occasionally chases or paws at them in effort to play.  She responds quickly to correction and is eager to please.  Tes has been observed with children twice and did well.  Tes is a vocal dog, mostly when she is left at home and is not suitable for apartment life.  She is house and crate trained, with no accidents.  She has gone up to 10 hours without a potty break.  She prefers to be close to her person and will lean in to make sure you know she's there, ready to receive attention.  Tes usually sleeps in her crate at night, but has done well sleeping overnight out of the crate and enjoys snuggling up on the couch.  Tes thoroughly enjoys being outdoors, especially in cooler weather and would enjoy an active home with a large fenced yard.  She expresses her excitement to go outside with a cute "roo-roo-Roo-ROO" as she stretches in preparation for playtime.  Tes is easily excitable and needs additional work on proper leash manners.  She is very smart and a little stubborn.   Tes will need an experience dog owner who can help guide her to be the best dog possible.  Do you have the right home for Tes?    EVERY DOG HAS A STORY:  She was found as a stray after she was hit by a car.  She had a fractured pelvis which is completely healed now. Tes is now ready to begin her new life and is looking for her forever home. INTERESTED IN ADOPTING TESLA ? You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.INTERESTED IN ADOPTING TERRA? If so, please fill out our dog adoption application by copying and pasting this link in a new browser window:  https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC   .  This is the first step before meeting any of our dogs.  FOSTER COMMENTS: Terra is a beautiful 2 year old female, short haired,  Siberian Husky/Alaskan Malamute mix.  She has those gorgeous blue eyes with white, tan, black fur and weighs 40 pounds.  Terra is a priceless girl who LOVES, LOVES  people! Terra is a very high-energy, young playful dog  who needs an experienced dog owner.  She has come a long way with her training but will need continued training and confidence building to become the best dog possible.  Terra is housebroken and needs to go out at a minimum, every 8 hours.  Her manners are great in the home so she does not need a crate.  Terra is a sofa dog though will sleep on her bed at night.  Exercise is very important for Terra. She needs walks, play time in a fenced yard(with a canine buddy who likes to play would be optimal)  and work puzzles to keep her mind active. Terra will do best with two adults in the home (double the love and attention!), older children, a fenced yard, daily walks to smell the world, car rides when possible, and perhaps a more mature dog in the home to encourage playing and interaction.   EVERY DOG HAS A STORY:  When first admitted to BFPA, we discovered that Terra was pregnant. The vet confirmed she was very young and unfortunately her pups did not survive. Terra was also heartworm positive and treated.  She is now looking for her forever home. INTERESTED IN ADOPTING TERRA? You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. PLEASE NOTE: If you are on PetFinder or other search site, you do NOT need to introduce yourself.  All dogs on our website ARE available and require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can be considered or meet any of our dogs.  The link to our application is in the dogs bio below.      Lacy is between 5-6 years old and is looking for her forever home.  She is very friendly to all people and and tends to ignore other dogs.  Lacy doesn't do well  female dogs.  If an applicant has another dog, it should be a male.     She has been crated in the past but no longer needs to be crated.  She is also housebroken.  Lacy does fine with cats when slowly and properly introduced.    Lacy enjoys lying around outside so a fenced yard would be ideal.  She really likes the cooler winter temperatures!     If you are looking for a wonderful gorgeous girl, Lacy could be the right fit for you.    EVERY DOG HAS A STORY:   Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.    Applicants must live a reasonable distance from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore require applicants to live close to the Triangle area of NC.    INTERESTED IN ADOPTING LACY ?
