Story
Dexter is a short husky mix about 2ft tall he is 3 years old. Very energetic, loving, silly, curious and he loves to play around. His favorite activities are to go on runs, play tug-o-war , belly rubs and most of all long naps in the sun. He gets along with other dogs mostly puppies since they’re just as playful as him. He isn’t trained so he needs a leash when going on walks and will need to be patient when potty training him. If you decide to take him in we will provide you with his cage. he would like to have space to run around and be free so if you have a fenced yard that’s a plus.

Story
Introducing Star: The Bright and Playful Pup! She will light up your world! Greetings, wonderful souls! My name is Star, a young and spirited foster dog on a mission to find my forever family. With a heart full of love and a twinkle in my eye, I'm ready to light up your world with joy, playfulness, and endless cuddles. I think I am only about 6-8 months old. Well, at least that’s what the nice lady who rescued me from the shelter said. I’m not really sure what a month is.I absolutely adore playing with other dogs and making new furry friends. Whether it's a game of tag in the yard with my foster brother and sister, or a cuddling with my foster mom at the end of the day, I'm always up for anything with my canine/human companions. Bravery is one of my shining qualities, as I face each day with courage and a fearless spirit. Despite any past challenges, I am a trustful soul, and believe in the goodness of the world. I'm eager to share my loving heart with a family who will cherish me for the brave and loyal companion that I am.Humans hold a special place in my heart, and I thrive on their love and attention. I'm a true people-dog, always seeking out cuddles, belly rubs, and companionship. I cherish every moment spent bonding with my human friends. In my foster home, I've been honing my manners and learning all about being a well-behaved pup. I'm a quick learner and strive to make my foster family proud with each new skill I acquire. I’m learning to be crate trained and walk politely on a leash. I'm always eager to learn and please. And of course, I am completely house trained. If you're looking for a loyal, playful, and loving companion to brighten your days and fill your heart with happiness, I could be the perfect match for you. Together, we can create unforgettable memories, share laughter, and embark on adventures that will bring us closer together. Are you ready to welcome Star into your life and let her light shine bright in your home? Let's make magic together!I can't wait to meet you and show you just how amazing life can be with a playful and loving pup like me by your side. Get ready for tail wags, wet nose kisses, and a lifetime of love with Star in your heart and home!**Please Note: All the available dogs listed on our website are getting spoiled in private foster homes. Meet Capone! I'm a silly, playful, and fun-loving guy who will keep you entertained with my delightful antics. You'll be pleased to know that I'm both crate and potty trained, making me a well-behaved companion. However, I should mention that I prefer to be the only dog in the house, and I'm most comfortable in a home with adults - so no kids, please. I absolutely adore going for walks, and I'm always up for a good cuddle session or some playtime. Chewing on bones is a favorite pastime of mine, and I'm a sucker for treats. You'll find that I'm smart but a bit hard-headed, which can make life with me quite an adventure. Trust me, I'm even cuter in person! If you think I might be the one you're looking for, don't hesitate to ask to meet me. I can't wait to become your best friend and fill your life with love and laughter! Story
Koda is already neutered and READY TO GO HOME TODAY! During a recent playgroup session, Koda didn't quite seem to know how to interact with other dogs. He enjoyed chasing the other dog, but once chasing ended he wasn't quite sure what to do and seemed a bit uncomfortable. If going to a home with another dog, he will likely need slow introductions over the course of at least a few days to ensure the two can peacefully co-exist. Koda has heartworms but it's treatable and not contagious. To help with the medical cost, a $400 sponsorship for treatment is provided by Friends of Wake County Animal Center. Email healaheart@outlook.com for more information. If you're interested in learning more about Koda, please reach out to our Volunteer Matchmakers at wcac.matchmaker@gmail.com with the subject line "Koda 240169."He is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and already neutered. If you have dogs or cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times. BONDED PAIR with Luna 246120Jack is a big, gentle giant! He is as sweet as he is strikingly beautiful. He has bright blue eyes, and a gorgeous coat. He can be shy at first, but once he warms up to you, all he wants is a good belly rub and to rest his big head on you. He loves to be pet, and will reward you with gentle swats to remind you to keep petting. He walks very well on his leash, and could walk for miles. He is low energy in the house, but needs regular exercise. He lives in a house with several other dogs and gets along with no issues. He is very apathetic to the more playful dogs, but we have seen him slowly thinking about playing with them. I think he will come out of his shell more, the longer we have him. He and his sister, Luna, love to go for walks together and are easily walked together by one person. They are so calm, they could easily live in an apartment or a house. They also do very well on trails, and would be great hikers with their excellent leash training and agility. Jack loves dog beds and fleece and that is where you will find him most of the time. He is crate trained, though he does not love to go in it, but is not destructive when left out of the crate. Neither he or Luna are typical huskies in the talking regard, and are actually very quiet dogs. They found themselves in need of rescue because they have a track record of being escape artists. They are not door dashers, but very capable of digging under a fence, or finding weak spots in the fence to bust through. Once out, they were difficult to get back, so we highly recommend leash walks only and/or supervised play in a securely fenced yard. We are looking for an experienced dog owner interested in adopting these two together. They are bonded and love being together. We fear separating them will bring anxiety and unnecessary difficulty to their lives. They seem to bring reassurance to one another and make each other feel more calm and confident. They are wonderful, very well behaved dogs. You will want to take them both once you meet them too! If you have the space and love for these two beautiful dogs, please reach out to their foster at hickeym08@gmail.com. Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Black Weight: 67 Age: 3yrs 3mths 1wks

BONDED PAIR WITH JACK 246121Luna is as sweet as she is beautiful! Her stunning coat and piercing eyes are even more stunning in person. She even has blond eyelashes! We joke that if Barbie had a dog, it would be Luna! She is excellent on her leash, and loves to go for walks. She is low energy once she has been exercised. She has no interest in toys, but does enjoy playing with the other dogs in the house. She and her brother, Jack, love to go for walks together and are easily walked together by one person because they have excellent leash skills. We have taken them on trails and think they would be excellent hikers, as they navigate trails with ease and agility. Both dogs are very quiet, which is odd for their breed, but we have never heard them talk or howl. They are quiet and calm, and would even do well as apartment dogs. Both dogs are crate trained, but not destructive when left out of their crates. Luna is dainty and gentle, and wants your attention to be pet, but settles quickly. She is not very food motivated, but will take particular treats, and has been eating a mix of wet and dry food. Luna and Jack found themselves in need of rescue because they have a track record of being escape artists. They are not door dashers, but very capable of digging under a fence, or finding weak spots in the fence to bust through. Once out, they were difficult to get back, so we highly recommend leash walks only and/or supervised play in a securely fenced yard. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. You MUST complete a Best Friend Pet Adoption application if you are interested in Tesla.  Please fill out our dog adoption application by copying and pasting this link in a new browser window:   https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC     Tesla (Tes) is an exuberant, friendly girl with lots of personality. She is roughly 4-5 years old, ~65lbs and appears to be a Husky, Shepherd, possibly Carolina Dog mix - whatever mix she is - she is absolutely beautiful, especially with her stunning blue eyes!   Tes is housebroken/crate trained and is normally crated when no one is home. She has been left for 8 hours during work days with no potty issues. She needs a large crate (42" - 48") as she likes to sprawl wide open and sleeps belly up in some of the cutest positions. She usually sleeps in her crate at night, but has done well sleeping out overnight and enjoys snuggling up on the couch. Tes wouldn't be suitable in an apartment and would do best with a fenced yard. She can be vocal at times and will definitely alert you that someone/something is at the door or yard. She does fine with the 4ft chain link at her foster home.   Tesla has medium-high energy. Since she's been settled in her foster home, she doesn't require a ton of exercise, but does need daily physical simulation/lots of outdoor time for her to explore - she likes to entertain herself with a ball/toy. Tes would do just fine as an only dog or with a well matched neutered male - similar to her size and play style. She prefers a dog that she can run around with for a few minutes then she likes to hang outside and sunbathe (on cooler days). She doesn't like a dog that is too overwhelming with excitement or that inappropriately invades her space.   Tesla will do best with a confident handler that is calm, consistent and provides guidance. She can be visually excited on walks, but she redirects easy with verbal or treat praise. She may need a few reminders to walk with manners, and once she knows you're not going to allow her to pull with excitement, she walks wonderfully. She is very smart, occasionally stubborn, but when you follow through with what you ask her to do, she is respectful and eager to please. She is food motivated and knows basic commands (sit, down & come) and waits patiently for her meals.   Tes has been observed with children twice and did well. Older children (8+) probably better than youngsters since she is larger and easily excitable. In previous foster homes, she has done ok with confident "dog-friendly" cats. If a kitty is shy and runs, the chase may be too fun. Slow and appropriate kitty introductions are highly recommended to create a successful relationship.   EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Tesla was picked up as a stray by animal control after she was hit by car. She had a fractured pelvis that was able to heal on its own. She has been waiting over a year to find a home to call her own, please consider meeting her! She would love to meet you!!   Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.    We prefer that applicants live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore prefer applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC. We will consider applicants who live further away if we  feel the home is right for this sweet girl.    INTERESTED IN ADOPTING TESLA ? Story
Shalamar is an amazing all white purebred husky. She’s 4 years old. She’s (mostly) house broken, and fully crate trained. She needs a home with a very active family and plenty of space to run outside. She’s great with kids and other dogs. We have a cat who she gets along with perfectly. We’re re-homing shalamar due to her separation anxiety. When we leave, she gets nervous and has torn apart some household items. We unfortunately don’t have the time or means to train her to break the separation issues. Outside of that, she’s a dream of a dog who loves belly rubs, licking and cuddles. Adoption fee is to ensure she goes to a loving home that cares about her. Fee can be discussed for the right forever home.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.DOB: 6/25/2022 Hi there, my name is Star. I am a recent momma who was left outside an animal shelter with my newborn pups during closed hours. Luckily the shelter staff found me and contacted RUFF, who has taken me and my babies in. I am no longer a momma as my pups have grown into individual healthy guys and gals, and so I have just figured out how to be a dog. My foster mom says that I am very sweet and cuddly. I love everyone, human and dog once I warm up to you. I do have lots of energy at times and I've been known to chase squirrels, moles, and goats, so I have quite the prey drive. I do like the outdoors but one of my favorite things to do is snuggle on the couch. I like to play with toys and go on walks. I am crate-trained, though I prefer to chill outside my crate and use that as a safe space when I need time alone. I'm a really good and happy gal who is looking for her forever home. If you have any interest in or questions about me, please fill out an application and my foster mom will be in touch. I can't wait to meet you!  (KG/KG*)   Up to date on age-appropriate vaccines and microchipped, but not yet spayed.
