Story
Lycan is an absolutely adorable senior Husky looking for a loving home to spend his golden years in. This powdered sugar faced guy is still pretty new to FDHS, but he has already stolen plenty of hearts. So far, Lycan has been an absolute angel. He keeps a tidy kennel, is easy for our staff to handle, and is just an all around happy guy. He’s been pretty indifferent to the other animals and the only time he really makes himself known is when he starts serenading everyone with his Husky songs. It’s easy to see that Lycan was once a cherished member of a family, and we’d love nothing more than to help him find that feeling again. If you have room in your home for a laid back old dude with a lot of love left to give, Lycan would love to meet you.**Neutered, microchipped, heart worm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Weighs about 60 lbs**

Story
Meet Sweet Cakes! 💙Yes, Sweet Cakes is really her name—and yes, she's every bit as sweet as it sounds! This gorgeous Husky is impossible to miss with her stunning two different-colored eyes and her larger-than-life personality. Sweet Cakes is a total diva who isn't shy about letting you know exactly how she's feeling. Like any true Husky, she's a chatty girl who loves to "talk" with adorable howls, grumbles, and classic Husky sass. One of Sweet Cakes' favorite things in the world is being outside. Whether she's exploring, soaking up the sunshine, or simply enjoying the fresh air, she absolutely loves being outdoors. Because of her adventurous spirit, she'd likely thrive in a home with a securely fenced yard where she can safely run, play, and enjoy herself.Sweet Cakes is housebroken and does well with dogs and kids. While she can be indifferent to cats, we highly encourage a home without them to help set everyone up for success. She's still working on her leash manners, likely because she spent much of her life on a tie-out, but she's eager to learn and continues to make progress with patience and consistency.Sweet Cakes was transferred to us from Loyal K9 after her owner sadly passed away. She's now looking for a loving family to give her the fresh start she deserves. If you're looking for a beautiful, vocal, entertaining Husky with striking eyes, a big personality, and an even bigger heart, Sweet Cakes is ready to fill your home with love, laughter, and plenty of Husky conversations. An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Dog adoption fees are $250.00 for all puppies and adult dogs. Seniors are a donation of choice.Cats and kittens are minimum donation $50.00

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.adoption fee $200.00 If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a playful spirit and heart full of potential, Peaches might just be your perfect match. This stunning 2-year-old Husky mix will steal your heart the moment you meet her—especially with those gorgeous, expressive eyes that tell her story. Peaches is already off to a great start! She is: ✨ Potty trained✨ Crate trained✨ Knows her basic commands✨ Walks nicely on a leash✨ A great travel buddy (she even enjoys camping!) Like a true Husky, Peaches is goofy, energetic, and loves being outdoors. She would thrive in an active home and would love a fenced yard where she can run and play to her heart’s content. She is dog-friendly (may be too much for older dogs) and does well with children, but no cats! Peaches does have a softer side. Due to her past, she feels most comfortable around women and will need a patient, understanding home to help her continue building confidence. She also benefits from calming treats to help her feel her very best. The Best Part?Peaches wants to learn. She is eager to please and with a little love, patience, and guidance, she will absolutely shine. Peaches isn’t just looking for a home—she’s looking for someone to believe in her. And in return, she’ll give you loyalty, laughter, and so much love. New foster dogs need time to feel safe. They may be skittish or fearful, so always stay with them outside—even in fenced yards. Ensure collars and leashes fit securely to prevent escapes. Your gentle presence and protection help them feel loved and secure. The adoption fee helps allow Perfect Paws to provide all animals with current, age appropriate vaccinations which include, DHLPP, Kennel Cough and Rabies (if the pet is at least 13 weeks old), and spay/neuter when necessary.  The fee also helps with the cost of deworming; heartworm testing (if the pet is at least 1 year old), heartworm prevention as well as flea and tick prevention for animals cared for through the rescue. Story
Meet Spike, a handsome 2½-year-old pup with a fluffy coat and an easygoing personality! Spike has lived with other dogs and would be happy to meet a canine companion. He does need to be fed separately from other dogs, but otherwise enjoys their company. A home without cats is a must for this guy. He's been doing well on a leash and enjoys spending time with people. Spike is also great with kids, making him a wonderful candidate for a family looking to add a four-legged friend. While toys don't seem to be his thing, he's content hanging out with his favorite humans—and he's a bit of a treat critic, so it may take some trial and error to discover his favorite snack! With his beautiful coat comes a little extra responsibility. His future family should be prepared for regular grooming appointments to keep him looking and feeling his best. If you're looking for a sweet, family-friendly dog who's ready to start his next chapter, Spike can't wait to meet you!

Story
Meet Remi! 🐾 Remi is a 5-year-old sweetheart who's ready to trade shelter life for a cozy home of his own. This handsome guy has a gentle, easygoing personality and enjoys spending time with his people. He walks nicely on a leash and loves getting outside to explore. While he's playful, it's clear he hasn't had many chances to just be a dog—he doesn't really know what toys are yet! We can't wait for someone to introduce him to the joy of playtime. Remi did well during his dog evaluation. He was happy to be around another dog but wasn't interested in starting a game of chase or wrestling. He's more of a "you do your thing, I'll do mine" kind of guy. Because he can be protective of his food, he'll need to be fed separately from any canine siblings. Remi is not a good fit for a home with cats, but he could do well with a respectful dog companion and is great with children. His future family should also plan on regular grooming to keep him looking and feeling his best. If you're looking for a sweet, low-key companion who's ready to learn what the good life is all about, Remi is waiting to meet you!
