Story
Meet Roni!Roni is a beautiful little Husky mix with a stunning bi-eyed gaze (yep, two different colored eyes!) and personality that’s just beginning to bloom. She came to us as a "stray" alongside her sister Mac, but their story goes much deeper. Roni is one of several Husky mixes believed to have been dumped across multiple counties after surviving rough beginnings. These dogs lived in overcrowded, filthy conditions, and it's clear that Roni is still figuring out what it means to feel cared for and loved.Despite her nervousness, Roni is incredibly sweet and curious. She lights up around other dogs—especially Mac—and would do best in a home with a confident canine companion to show her the ropes. She’s slowly discovering the joys of being a dog: how to walk on a leash, how nice grass feels under her paws, and that people can be kind.Roni is still working on potty training, but she’s already picking up on the routine here at FDHS and does a great job keeping her kennel tidy throughout the day. With her smaller size, shorter fur, and delicate features, we suspect she may be mixed with something other than your typical Husky—whatever she is, she’s 100% good girl.Roni is available now for foster or adoption. She needs patience, gentle guidance, and a safe place to land. In return, she’ll give you the purest kind of love.Let’s give this special girl the happy ending she’s been waiting for.**Spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Weighs about 40 lbs**

Story
Hello, I’m River. I may be a Husky mix, but I’m not your typical whirlwind of energy. I’m a quiet, mild-mannered girl who prefers taking it slow and steady. Life before the shelter was confusing—it's believed I came from a hoarding situation and was left behind with several other dogs. Despite that, I’ve handled all the changes with as much grace as I can muster.I’ve been very polite with the staff here. I enjoy quiet time in the fenced yard where I can sniff the breeze and take in the world at my own pace. I’m not too sure about leashes just yet, but I’m working on it. Everything is still a bit new and uncertain for me, but I’m trying.Although I likely lived among many dogs before, I seem to prefer solitude now. I’d be happiest in a calm, dog-free home where I can have space to breathe and adapt. I don’t need much—just a kind, patient person who will give me the time and reassurance I need to settle in and feel safe.I'm available for adoption or foster and am hopeful that my forever person is out there.**Spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Weighs about 35 lbs**

Story
Meet Mac!Don't be fooled by the photos—Mac does have ears! She just likes to keep them tucked down for dramatic effect. Between her shy little smile and her soft, soulful gaze, this beauty has mastered the art of melting hearts.Mac arrived at FDHS alongside her sister Roni after being found as a “stray,” but the truth is, these girls came from a heartbreaking situation. Part of a larger group of Husky mixes that were dumped in different counties, Mac was forced to live in overcrowded, filthy conditions. Her fur still bears the stains of her past, but with every bath (and there have been a few!), she’s looking and feeling more like the happy, healthy pup she was always meant to be.Despite everything she’s been through, Mac is pure sweetness. She’s affectionate, cuddly, and adores rolling around in the grass—something she likely never got to experience before. Mac would absolutely thrive in a home with another dog, especially her sister Roni (there's a discount if you take both!). Having a canine companion helps her feel safe and secure as she continues learning how to navigate the world.Whether you’re ready to adopt or foster, Mac is more than ready to trade her past for a fresh start—and she can’t wait to discover what it feels like to be someone's world.**Spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Weighs about 35 lbs.**

Story
Khaleesi is a beautiful white Husky with stunning bi-colored eyes and a personality that’s really starting tk shine. She came to FDHS as an owner surrender from a multi-dog home, where she didn’t get much exposure to the outside world. Since arriving, she’s blossomed with routine, gentle handling, and the consistent care she deserves. She gets along well with other dogs after slow introductions, but hasn’t been around cats. True to her breed, Khaleesi is energetic and intelligent—she’ll need a securely fenced yard or a person committed to daily walks to help her burn off that classic Husky energy. And yes, there will be fur. Lots of it. Around here, we call it Husky glitter—and Khaleesi wears it with pride.Due to her limited exposure with kids, Khaleesi would do best in a home with older children (10+) or adults only. If you're patient, active, and don’t mind a little extra vacuuming, Khaleesi might just be your girl. Fill out an adoption application to come meet this floof at FDHS! **Spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention**
