Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.LOVEY DOVEY hails from the Northern community of Sandy Lake and came south with her two sisters, Honey Bunch and Sweetie Pie and they’re named the Valentine Trio. She’s now looking to find her forever home. She’s received her first two sets of vaccines, a microchip, dewormer and has been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. We really don’t know the size she’ll grow to be as we have no information on either parent. The same can be said about the breeds we’ve stated as we just go by what she looks like. There is a picture of her with her 2 siblings and they look to be Lab mixes but that’s just a guess. She’s the smallest one in the litter and she loves to cuddle and sleep in her foster’s lap. As much as she loves her sisters and playing with them she will wander off and do her own thing too. She’s the observant one in the litter and will sit back to observe what the other two are up to. She’s currently teething so she has lots of chew toys including Nyla bones to keep her little teeth busy.  LOVEY DOVEY’s crate trained and sleeps quietly in it at night and will also nap in it during the day too. House training is a work in progress still and that’s mainly due to the very cold weather. When she’s taken outside for a bathroom break she simply turns around and wants back in the house again. She is working on it though but in the meantime she uses pee pads in the home. She’s only just started to go for short walks and like all puppies she’ll excitedly race ahead of you. She enjoys her food and has just been introduced to treats which she also loves. She does have good manners and will “sit” for her meals and also take her treats “gentle.” LOVEY DOVEY’s ideal family has to have Husky experience as although she’s a very gentle girl right now, the older she gets the more challenging she’ll become. They should also be an active one that loves the outdoors as we know once she’s a bigger girl she’ll love to be outside and want to be adventurous and go on hikes and long walks on the trails. She does well in a vehicle so will always be up for a drive and especially if it leads to an adventure for her. There’s no other dog (than her sisters) in her foster home so if there is one in her new home they should be gentle and calm. It’s recommended that a slow introduction be made between them as well and the dog kept leashed for the first initial introductions. She should do well with a cat as she is fostered with one. She can be an only pet in the home provided she’s not left alone for long periods of time every day. Children should be aged 6yrs and up plus be loving, gentle and kind towards animals. She does require a fenced-in yard so she can be kept safe while she has a run around and play. LOVEY DOVEY, like all puppies, is cute, playful and fun but also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We do need her adopter to be in agreement to take her for puppy/obedience training to help her to become the best girl possible. Her spay is included in her adoption fee and her potential adopter must be in agreement to have her spayed by the time she’s 6 months of age. The surgery will be at the Barrie SPCA but you can use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it there. In order for the rescue to do so we need the spay requirements to still be followed plus a copy of the procedure invoice and a picture of her (preferably in her onsie or cone) in order to do the reimbursement. We do post the picture on our fb page along with other pets that were “fixed” in the same week.  If LOVEY DOVEY sounds like she’ll suit your family and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet her. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 8, 2026, 10:40 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.MINCE PIE hails from the Northern community of Pikangikum and came south to find his forever family. He’s had his first two sets of vaccines, Revolution flea and tick treatment x 2 and been deemed a healthy boy by his vet. He was found wandering around in the community all alone so we have no information on either parent and although he looks like a Husky/Shepherd we don’t really know what breeds are in him. That also means we don’t have much idea of what he’ll end up looking like or the size he’ll grow to be. This young fella is such a good boy and loves to play chase with his rubber ball, chew on his Nyla bone and play with the other dogs in his foster home. He’s very loving and good natured and very playful at the same time. He also loves to chase ice cubes across the floor and then scrunch on them as they’re really good for his gums while he’s teething.  MINCE PIE is crate trained and sleeps quietly in it at night without a peep and the same can be said for during the day. He’s doing really well with his house training and will cry when he needs to go outside. He loves to go on walks and he goes regularly as he has lots of puppy energy to burn off. He‘s fostered with several dogs so he’s well socialized with them and would suit being with another dog in the home. He’s fostered with a cat and several kittens and the funny thing is, rather than chase them he just sits quietly and watches them interact with each other. He should do well with a cat in the home as long as it’s a dog savvy one and as always we recommend a slow, monitored introduction between them while the dog is kept leashed. We do require children to be aged 6 years of age and up plus they should be kind, gentle and loving towards animals.  MINCE PIE’s ideal family would be an active one with a love and understanding of Huskies and all that comes with the breed. They should have a love of the outdoors and being outside for big walks and hikes in the woods. He does really well in a vehicle and is kept in a crate in it as he goes to Tim’s with his foster dad every morning. He gets very excited when he knows he’s going in the vehicle so will always be up for a drive, especially if it leads to an adventure for him or even a Tim’s stop. He should do well as an only pet in the home provided be’s not left alone for long periods of time and isn’t crated in day for extended periods of time either. He does require a fenced-in yard so he can be kept safe and also have somewhere to run around and play. Puppies are cute, playful and fun but also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We do need his adopter to be in agreement to attend puppy/obedience training to help him be the best boy possible. His neuter is included in his adoption fee and his potential adopter must be in agreement to have him neutered by the time he’s 9 months of age or 60lbs (whichever comes first.) The surgery will be at the Barrie SPCA but you can use your own vet if preferred and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it there. In order for the rescue to do so we need the neuter requirements to still be followed plus a copy of the procedure invoice and a photo of him (preferably in his cone) in order to do the reimbursement. We do post the picture on our fb page along with other pets that were “fixed” in the same week.  If MINCE PIE sounds like he’ll suit your family and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet him.     Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 4, 2026, 5:30 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.LUMINOX hails from the Northern community of Poplar Hill and came south along with her 4 puppies to find living homes. She was a loving, attentive mum and now she deserves to get that loving family she’s always dreamed of. She’s spayed, vaccinated including rabies, microchipped and been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. We can definitely see the Husky in her but not so much the Lab but she does have the loving, soft nature of one. So basically the breeds are just our assumption and she probably has many more in her too. She’s a bit under weight so could still do with gaining a few pounds which she should now seeing as she’s no longer nursing her puppies. She’s a sweet girl who just wants snuggles, toys and food. She loves her people and will be their shadow and follow them room-to-room because she doesn’t want to lose sight of them. Belly rubs? Did someone say belly rubs? This girl absolutely loves them and when she has her fosters full attention, she’ll then flop onto the floor and roll over so she can get that full-on belly rub.   LUMINOX is crate trained and will sleep well in it at night but not such a fan of it in the daytime so she is kept in a secure room and will settle down f er right away. She does well on her walks but we do not recommend anytime soon that she be off leash until her new owner is well acquainted with her and she’s very trusting of them. She’s housetrained and will let you know when she has to go outside for a bathroom break. She loves her belly rubs and will lean into her foster to let her know she wants them and when she gets their full attention she’ll then flop on the floor for her to give them. She loves to be in the water and she’ll run into it at full tilt and then lay down in it especially after a nice long walk in the woods. She enjoys car rides but sometimes needs bit of a boost to get her in there. She has the funniest quirk of when she’s going somewhere she’ll flop on the ground and go limp. However, she’s fine to be picked up and her smaller size makes it easier to manoeuvre her. She’ll do this sometimes at night when it’s bedtime and time to get her into her crate. She does this as she’d much rather stay with her people and she envisions herself lying on the bed rather than in the crate. She’s well socialized with dogs of all sizes and a lot of different breeds and she also has 2 of them in her foster home. They walk and play well together and love to burn off energy by playing chase in the back yard. She does have a prey drive so we’re saying no cats or critters in her new home. She’s only met children aged 10 plus and did very well with them so we are recommending they should be over the age of 10yrs and be gentle and loving towards animals.  LUMINOX loves to play with toys especially the squeaky ones. She has to be monitored with them though as she’ll chew through them pretty quick to get at that squeaker. So we’re recommending the toughest toys for her like the Kong brand and Nyla bones to chew on. She’s very food motivated so it’s very easy to teach new tricks and commands with treats. She already knows sit, paw, down, come and stay to name a few. Although she already knows these commands we do strongly recommend that her new owner take her to obedience/training school and it’s also a great way for her owner to bond with her. She’s great at sniffing out kibble too and has raided her kibble bin a couple of times so food should be kept well out of her reach. She doesn’t show any signs of  resource guarding with people when it comes to food or toys and they can safely be taken from her. She does require a fenced in yard and one that is secure as she’ll go on a mission to find gaps in it and try to escape. She does have a prey drive so  absolutely no cats or small critters in the home for her. She does chase after bunnies and other critters and one time she did manage to catch a bunny and it unfortunately didn’t survive.  If LUMINOX sounds like she’d fit into your home then please submit an adoption application to meet her.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 21, 2026, 5:40 pm

Story
Luna is a chill but spunky senior girl. She was surrendered to us due to some medical complications that have since been resolved. She likes to bask in the sun, and also enjoys relaxing in the snow. She truly loves to be outside enjoying the fresh air. Luna is a vocal girl who likes to howl and "talk" to her people. She makes us laugh every day with her bossy quirks .Luna is looking for a quiet home. She can be protective of her space occasionally, and will need time to slowly warm up to new people. Luna's family would need to come to Dog Tales for frequent visits before bringing her home, in order to help her transition to her new family. An experienced adopter with no dogs or children is Luna's ideal family.
