Story
All she wants for Christmas is a home of her own. Can you help? Josie is your typical Jack Russell terrier! She is a busy body and can be a bit persnickety but she loves her squeaky toys and her chews. Josie is not so great with other dogs and is possessive of her stuff! She has accepted my dogs but mine don't challenge anyone or get in their face. Josie would love an only dog home with maybe a retired couple who would include her in their daily lives. A fenced in yard or small protected area would be great for Josie! Add a toy box of squeakies and she will be a happy camper! Josie is crate trained and has rarely had an accident so I suspect she is most likely house trained or easily transitioned. Josie has been with me awhile as she had a severely luxated patella that required surgery for pain relief. Her surgery was completed and as successful as possible. Josie does use her leg especially when running around like a maniac. But when just standing there, she will often hold that leg up. The vet feels it's just a learned behavior from favoring the leg for so long! In any event, Josie has been in foster way too long and deserves a loving home of her very own! Josie is a young adult and weighs about 10#! Josie is the dog pictured in front of the camera. Baby Girl is behind her.

Story
Sweet Jack is around 6 months old and weighs in at just about 20 lbs. He is such a very sweet boy who loves all furry friends and never meets a stranger. He is going to make the very best family companion! Jack Black had a terrible case of demodectic mange when he came into our rescue. He's been treated, but his hair is still slowly growing back and that's why his pictures might appear that he looks like he's been nibbled on by a moth. Demodectic mange frequently referred to as Demodex or "red mange", is the most common form of mange in dogs. Demodectic mange most often occurs in puppies with immature immune systems, allowing the number of skin mites to multiply rapidly. It's not contagious to other dogs or humans, and it is easily treatable but can be a lengthy process. There are several different medications (oral and topical) that are used to treat Demodex. Medicated baths are helpful and soothing to help the puppy feel less irritated. However, the very best treatment above everything else is low stress and lots of TLC. We also suggest food that is for skin conditions. This sweet puppy is ready for a home of her very own but please be sure and do your own research about Demodex to make sure you're comfortable with it. We've treated probably thousands of puppies and adults with Demodex and in the most severe cases, the hair might grow back splotchy in places, but the recovery is full and when treated properly, Demodex leaves no long-term health issues. This puppy is spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, treated for all of the intestinal parasites, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Because intestinal parasites are cyclical, your puppy may need additional treatment once you get him/her home. This is common and nothing to be alarmed about. Puppies and dogs need to be treated periodically for parasites throughout their entire lives. The adoption fee is $550 if your adoption is prepaid prior to your pup's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on puppies that are picked up from our Southbury CT adoption center, adopted at an event, or foster home. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with CT HB 5368. WANT TO MEET OUR DOGS IN PERSON? Check the Events tab on cprdogs.com for all weekend adoption event info. The majority of the dogs marked as 'meet me' will be there to see you! More and more of our adopters are having fun with DNA tests on their pups. You might ask yourself why our breed guess is varying degrees of difference from the DNA tests. Most of our puppies are rescued from high kill shelters or other abandonment situations and we have no info on parents. When we rescue puppies that have no background info, we make our very best educated guess as to breed mix and age. Our guesstimate comes from years and years and years of animal welfare work and training, but our guesses won't always agree with your vet, your neighbor, your DNA test, etc. The most important thing to know about your puppy's breed mix is that most likely he/she is a Super Lovable Mutt made of many many many different breeds. If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at the Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05. TO APPLY PLEASE GO TO www.cprdogs.com. If your application was successfully submitted you will get an automatically generated confirmation email. Please DO NOT USE the ADOPTAPET "CONTACT THIS RESCUE GROUP" form below or you may not hear from us as these often end up in spam or bouncing back. After receipt of your application, an adoption counselor will then be in touch to answer your questions about this pup, discuss the adoption process and get the ball rolling! If you have not heard from one of our volunteers within 5 days of submitting your application, please email mollibo@gmail.com.

Story
Sugar and Spice and everything nice! Spice and her sister Sugar were rescued from a pretty sad living situation. They are around 30 pounds and roughly one year old. Both sisters love attention from their human friends and also love other dogs. They are bonded and would love a home together, but can be adopted separately. Spice is tan with white and black markings. She's submissive, but does have a "spicy attitude and will let you know what she thinks about it! Overall, she has a very calm and relaxed demeanor especially when she knows she is in a safe place/at home. She does well with potty training, but is still working on leash training. She is very gentle and loving with a little side of sass! Spice would make a great pet for almost any home. She is ready to be adopted and can travel to her adoptive home now! If you're interested in welcoming me or any of my delightful Funny Farm companions into your home, kindly visit ffpets.org. There, you can find information about our Tennessee-based rescue, and gain insights into the adoption process! The adoption fee is $325, with an additional $200 required for transportation. Please note that at the moment, this adorable pet is in the care of a foster home in Tennessee but will be lovingly transported to your location once the adoption process is successfully completed. For details on meeting locations and transport arrangements, simply click on the "Transport" tab at ffpets.org. Story
Holly is an absolute bundle of cuteness! She came to AATDR when a rescue friend of ours asked us for help with her. She'd taken her on when Holly's family couldn't keep her anymore. Holly is an energetic pup, who enjoys playtime and walks and hikes. She's lived with children and would be happy to have human brothers or sisters 10 years old or older. She could live happily with a dog of similar size, or she'd be delighted to be the sole focus of your attention. Holly shouldn't live with cats, small dogs, or other small animals. As active as Holly is, she's also a Class A cuddler. Once she gets her energy out, curling up on the couch with you is a priority for her. She'd just love having a fenced yard for playtime. Right now, she's in boarding. And she needs and deserves to be in a home. If you live in CT and that home could be yours, please let us know!
