Story
ADOPTION FEE $300 On 2/27, saw this dog crossing the street while driving home into my neighborhood. A neighbor ("Bob") said he had been coming around for about 3 days, and Bob had been giving him (human) food. Bob said his kids named the dog Comet and that at first Comet was standoffish but after a couple days he warmed up to him; same thing with my wife and me. We already have 2 dogs and a cat so I thought Comet could be a good addition to the family. We took him to the vet. He said Comet is ~3y/o judging from plaque on teeth. Vet also said Comet had heartworm that would've killed him by the end of the year if he didn't get hit by a car first. We treated his HW thru March and he's over it now. (can provide vet receipts ~$1500) Unfortunately he won't get along with our 2 dogs and cat. He is very protective and he's a very sweet boy. Ideal for someone who needs a loyal friend without pets currently. He loves cuddles! He is not fixed yet; we will update the profile when he is.

Story
Sophie is about 15-16 years old. The vet said she thinks she might have dementia. She walks in circles most of the time she has to be kept in an enclosed area she doesn’t have enough sense anymore to go outside and potty. She has cataract in one eye, and half blind in the other she can just see out the corner of her left eye, and with age she’s lost some of her hearing, I took her and cared for her for the past going on seven years her owners passed away, so I’m working full-time and I feel real bad I don’t have time to spend with her much anymore, so if there’s someone that has the time and the ability to care for her with her dementia, please let me know. I really don’t want to have her put down. I just don’t know what else to do. She is a sweet dog. She just needs someone that’s got the time and the patience.

Story
Allie is a Jack Russel Terrier/Pug mix. She was born on 11/9/11 and weighs about 26 lbs. She is spayed, heartworm negative, current on shots, micro-chipped, on flea/heartworm prevention. Her adoption is $25. She is hypothyroid and on daily inexpensive medication. She can be picky about who she likes and can be crate aggressive. She was adopted out as a puppy but ended up back at the rescue when both of her adopters unexpectedly passed away within months of each other. Please email for an application. A New Beginning Pet Rescue, Inc. only accepts cash. We do not have the ability to accept credit or debit cards and no longer accept checks. The pets are available to be seen at our adoption events on weekends at the Petsmart in Altamonte Springs on Saturday from 11-4:30 and Sunday from 12-4:30.

Hi, my name is Ed. I'm 7 years old, 27 lbs Jack-Rat Terrier mix. I am seeking a home where Joe and I can be adopted together. Joe is 10 years old, 16lbs male Rat Terrier (last picture). We are very friendly, loving dogs who just want to live their life together and be loved. We love play time, going outside and curling up on the couch in the evenings. PLEASE NOTE: All your current pets must be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and on heartworm prevention to adopt from Polka Dogz. We only adopt in Florida. All adoption fees go to help all the dogs in the rescue, some of which require extensive medical care. Thank you for caring for the greater good. Adoption fee is $500 ($250 per dog) and you can adopt us at POLKADOGZ.ORG  ##1702265##

Story
Meet Corduroy! This 11-lb terrier blend is 10 years old. All Corduroy wants is a friend who will snuggle him and love him forever. General Behavior:  Corduroy is an absolute sweetheart and a little cuddle bug. Nothing makes him happier than sitting beside you being pet, and if you pause for a moment he will nudge your hand with his head to get back to work. It’s adorable. He likes to make sure he has all your attention. When Corduroy is not snuggled up by your side he will follow you around. He grows very attached and is like a little shadow. If he is separated or not in the same room as his person he will begin to cry. If you leave or go out, he may cry at first when you’re gone, but eventually he settles in and takes his naps. He’s a big snoozer, and quite the snorer too lol. Likes & Dislikes: Corduroy loves pats, snuggles, and being the center of attention! He is not food or toy motivated: he just wants cuddles. Corduroy is a more senior pup in the sense that he isn’t interested in toys or playing. He does have bursts of energy when you come home or after waking up in the mornings. He does a little downward dog dance. He is not a fan of abrupt movements or being picked up quickly, he would much rather come to you for snuggles.  Training: Corduroy is a little gentleman! He does well with his housetraining when let out regularly. He enjoys short walks and walks well on a leash. He rides well in the car, sleeps in the people bed at night, and generally has good basic manners. Medical: In addition to the usual heartworm and flea preventatives, Corduroy needs animax ointment (about $10 for a tube) because he sometimes gnaws on his paws. Other Animals: Corduroy doesn’t have much interest in other dogs. He may say hi for a bit but then he’s back on his mission for getting snuggled. He is very mellow. He hasn’t been cat tested, but he would probably be OK with them, too. Children: Corduroy can be timid in new surrounding and loud noises or sudden movements startle him a lot. For this reason, he needs a home with calm, gentle, understanding teens only. Home: Corduroy would do well in an apartment, condo, or single-family home, as long as someone is around more often than not. Grooming: We don’t know how long Corduroy’s coat will grow, but he may need occasional grooming. Overall: Corduroy will be an amazing companion for someone with the same relaxed energy as him, who is looking for a little one to love and snuggle on. Is Corduroy the friend you’ve always wanted? Then visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You’ll be put in contact with his foster family if it’s a match. He is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and neutered and he has just had his teeth cleaned. The adoption donation for Corduroy has been reduced thanks to a generous grant from Kia and the Petfinder Foundation, and is $200. ##1681990##
