I may be a senior girl, but I still have so much love to give. Because of my age, I’m looking for a special someone who can open their heart and home to me as a hospice foster or adopter.I’m going blind and possibly hard of hearing, so I would do best in a calm, quiet home—either with gentle, laid-back dogs or as the only pup. My favorite things in the world are snuggling close and napping the day away. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion to share your home and heart, I’d love nothing more than to spend my golden days by your side. Currently, I am available for adoption. Meet Bernice! Bernice is a sweet, lovable puppy weighing about 15 pounds and approximately 11 weeks old. She’s doing wonderfully with potty training and is already sleeping through the night in her pen/play area. Bernice will let you know when she needs to go outside, which is pretty impressive for her age! She’s a total people-pup who loves to follow her humans wherever they go. Bernice is learning how to play with her toys and is gentle, docile, and incredibly affectionate. She listens well to commands and is eager to please, making her a joy to have around. Bernice would be a perfect addition to a loving home looking for a cuddly, well-mannered puppy with a calm and sweet disposition. Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. Puppies - We do not adopt puppies under 16 weeks to out of state adopters. This is due to our spay/neuter policy, and all dogs must be spayed/neutered before leaving Georgia state lines. We do not adopt siblings to the same household. Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption. Thankfully, a kind-hearted local stepped up to foster them temporarily—and what a difference it’s made! Outside the shelter, these boys are thriving: no more constant barking, just joyful exploration in a backyard and the comfort of human kindness. But time is running out. Their current foster can only keep them for two weeks, and we’re urgently seeking a local foster or foster-to-adopt home to continue their journey toward healing and happiness. What You Should Know: Both dogs are heartworm positive and need to be neutered. We cover all medical costs and provide supplies—you provide the love and safe space. He loves to play with humans but may be a bit too playful for toddlers or younger children. He’s crate trained but it is not his favorite place to be. He walks well on a leash and would make a great hiking or running buddy. Colby spent the first year of his life on a chain and has really blossomed into a very loving dog who craves attention. We think Colby would do best with a family that doesn't live in a congested area with lots of noise and has another dog to play with. He doesn't care for delivery trucks entering his domain or lots of strangers. Colby is very smart but craves attention and stong leadership, He really needs a strong pack leader to help him along his journey. .
