Story
Please contact ADOPTION (adopt@doggieharmony.org) for more information about this pet.Sweet Timid Jack Russell/Corgi Seeks Tender-Hearted Mama Toby is an adorable young 20 lb fella with the adventurous spirit and intelligence of a Jack Russell or Corgi. He just lacks their bravery when it comes to people, especially men. Toby can warm up to a gentle and patient woman in just a day, then reward you with forever unconditional love. He’s also more than happy to share his home with dogs, as they offer company, reassurance, and play dates. Could you find a warm place in your heart and home for this special little lad? Toby's ideal home would be with somewhat active (daily walker), adult female(s), an escape-proof set-up, and experience with shy/fearful dogs. Unfortunately, he is too much of a flight risk to go to a high-traffic home or one with children. Age: 2-3 yrs Weight: 20 lbs Temperament: Good with dogs and best suited for adult, female home Training: Housetrained, Crate-trained, Walks Nicely on Leash  Vetting: Spay/neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm negative Email for questions: jamie@doggieharmony.org To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Once your application is approved, we will bring the adoptable pet to your home for a preliminary visit. We are 100% donation-funded and our fees are equivalent to (or less than) the cost to fully vet a new dog yourself. Please expect an adoption fee of $350; some of our urgent or long-term dogs have discounted fees.November 14, 2025, 10:52 am

Story
Meet Fred Murphy This 10 month old hunk of ! a fellow may be small at 15 pounds, but he's packed with personality! Fred is a curious, high-energy boy who loves to explore, play and keep tabs on everything happening around him. He's happiest when he has plenty of toys to toss around and other dogs to romp with-he gets along great with canine friends. Fred was found as a stray and is still learning a few of his manners. He's mostly potty trained (loves the doggy door) and working on leash walking, but his enthusiasm for life sometimes takes over. Since he's part Jack Russell, he's quick, clever, and not above a little mischief...so anything left on the floor is fair game in his book! When playtime winds down, Fred becomes a total snuggle bug who loves curling up with his people for some quiet time. He has not been cat tested yet, but he loves making new friends. If you would like to add Fred to your forever family, please go to goofyfootrescue.org and place an application.

Story
We don’t know exactly what happened in Reba’s past, but we know it was nothing good. She came in as a “stray” to a local inner city animal control, with many old scars and a ripped ear. But the worst scars run much deeper. She was terrified of human touch, leashes, and pretty much everything and just ricocheted off her kennel walls trying to escape and lunging and snapping at anyone who attempted to touch her. She’s been with us for a little bit and she’s still a slow work in progress. She seems like she’s survived a hoarding situation or maybe actually was on the streets for a while in survival mode. She will come up and take treats from us, runs around the yard following her little doggie friends looking happy, but still panics being handled or leashed and is convinced human hands will cause her harm. She’s a tiny Jack Russell/toy fox terrier/rat terrier type, about 10lbs, maybe 5 years old, and has been spayed and updated on shots. She will definitely need a very patient person that will give her time and space to learn to trust on her own terms and accept that she may never be a cuddle bug. She definitely needs a home with at least one other small dog friend to follow and help her feel secure. If you are looking for a feral cat in a dog’s body, a project who will go at her own pace and can’t be rushed or smothered with affection but still watches and relies on you, email njwoof@cs.com to meet Reba in Northern NJ Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process and email any questions to us at njwoof@cs.com. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.
