Say hello to Dexter! Dexter is a 7-month-old Jack Russell Terrier mix. He weighs 16 lbs. and is full of energy! He originally came to us from another rescue partner. Dexter enjoys playtime with toys, walking or running with his volunteer friends, as well as pets and snuggles. He is outgoing, confident, and social. As a puppy, Dexter is still working on his manners and needs a home who will be patient with him as he learns the rules. Dexter would be open to meeting other dogs if you have them in your home. Meet Penny! Penny is a spunky and active little girl who weighs 31 lbs. We believe she is a Jack Russell Terrier and Blue Heeler mix and is around 1 year old. Penny came to us from another rescue. Penny is friendly and social. Given her breed mix, she has a lot of energy to spare, so she’d really enjoy an active family who can keep her mind and body engaged. Penny is open to meeting other dogs and can be kitty tested upon request. Penny is open to a home with kiddos, too! Apply for the fun and energetic gal at lvpeaceablekingdom.info. Story
AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION! Becca is an adorable Jack Russell Terrier mix looking for her forever home where she will be cared for and loved unconditionally. Her prior caretaker battles drug addiction and poor Becca lived in that environment until recently when she was brought to a shelter. Despite these experiences, Becca is happy-go-lucky and absolutely adores people.    She’s about 1-2 years old and 20 lb and bursting with personality. True to her breed, she has lots of energy and would love a fetch partner and space to stretch her legs each day. Becca does have luxating patellas and takes a daily joint supplement. She is not in any pain and, at her size, the vet does not recommend surgery. This should be monitored at her routine vet visits.    Becca is crate trained and house trained and happily sleeps through the night. She enjoys a good snuggle and is an excellent lap warmer. She can be nervous and feel overwhelmed around new dogs, but she warms up with slow intros. She hasn’t shown interest in the two cats in her foster home, but care should always be taken when introducing furry friends. Becca loves her people and would be perfectly happy being your one and only, too. She’s so ready to find her happily ever after!   If you’re interested in meeting Becca to see if she’s the one for you, email almosthome4dogs@yahoo.com to request an adoption application. (Local adoptions preferred — Philadelphia and tri-state area [South Jersey and northern Delaware] only.) PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTACTING US! We are NOT a shelter: All of our dogs live in private homes with foster families. Come and meet the Almost Home dogs and their fosters at our Meet & Greet events, where you can learn more about our wonderful dogs from the people who live with them, find out which dogs are on their way and when they’ll arrive, and fill out an application to adopt or foster. We cannot adopt to homes where electric-shock fencing systems or training collars are used. For more information on the dangers of electric-shock collars, please visit banshockcollars.ca/studies.php . We do not have an online adoption application; to request an application, e-mail us at AlmostHome4Dogs@yahoo.com. To speed e-mail processing time, be sure to note the name of the dog you are inquiring about in the Subject line. For Meet & Greet times and locations, visit our home page, where you also will find information on our adoption process and fees. FOSTER FAMILIES ARE LIFESAVERS!! Can you open your heart and home for a few weeks to homeless shelter dog? Remember, by fostering a dog, you save TWO lives — that of your foster dog, and that of the dog who takes his place in the shelter! Come to a Meet & Greet and find out if fostering is for you — there's no reward quite like the feeling that you've saved a life ... or two!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 15, 2025, 10:22 pm

Story
Are you looking for an agility dog, a flyball dog, or a jogging buddy? Buddy is your boy. Buddy appears to be a Jack Russell Terrier/other terrier mix. He is around 1 year of age and weighs 24 pounds. He was found under a bridge in one of the local dumping areas. It is no surprise that Buddy was scared when we first got him, but he quickly warmed up. He loves getting attention from his people. He loves pets and being close to his humans. He loves belly rubs and will roll over on his back whenever you bend over to pick him up. Buddy is small but mighty. He is muscular and high-energy and requires a lot of exercise. He loves to run and wrestle with other dogs. Sometimes, he can be naughty and will intimidate one of our more submissive dogs. Yet he backs down when one of the chihuahuas or another dog puts him in his place. Buddy is generally a good boy, and training is a work in progress. He is smart, listens well, and comes when called. He is crate-trained and fairly well-behaved in the house. We are working on teaching him manners. He gets jumpy when excited or wants attention, and needs more training. He responds well to "no" and the "tsch" correction (as used by Cesar Milan). He is NOT a fence climber. It would be best if applicants are experienced with the breed and are willing to hire a trainer if necessary. Buddy would love his new family to play with him, take him on walks, cuddle, and give him a lot of affection and belly rubs. Buddy must be an inside dog and a loved member of the family. He must be walked on a leash and have a secure, fenced yard to run and play. Buddy is neutered, tattooed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. He is heartworm-negative and receives monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Buddy is located in Texas but can be transported after he is adopted. His adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport by a reputable and trusted transport company. Scheduled stops include, but are not limited to, Ridgefield NJ, Rye NY, or Nanuet NY. Please email 2manydogstx@gmail.com if you would like to adopt this sweet, active little guy. Story
Summer was born in May 2020. We adopted in August 2020. She was attacked by a loose 50lb. dog during a walk and now is anxious around other dogs. We are rehoming her because she no longer can be near our other older dog. She is very smart and knows the meaning of several words: Play Ball, Crate Walk, Park, Food, Sit, Treat, Out, No, Stop, Come, Good Girl, and a few other words. When I hold up my index finger she knows that means wait a minute. She is house and crate trained, very affectionate, and playful. We would provide her crate and blankets, toys, harness, leash and her Neater Feeder water and food bowls unit. She loves to play, particularly fetch with her soft orange ball, cuddle up while watching TV and is very affectionate. She is also a great watch dog. Adoption fee is just to ensure she goes to a good, loving home. It will be held in escrow and refunded after she is in her new home for 90 days.
