Barking or separation anxiety: Suni has not been completely alone but is calm in home. Guarding: She is food motivated but does not have guarding behavior. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $700 PomPom is a 4 month old Jindo/Shiba Inu mix who weighs about 15 lbs. This sweet girl is a super sweet snuggle machine!  Her foster mom describes her routine as follows: 'PomPom wakes up when I wake up which is around 7am. She sleeps in the crate overnight and makes no fuss at all. She loves the crate and will go in there by herself when she wants to chill out. I take her out right away for a quick pee break and then she gets her breakfast. PomPom LOVES to eat and is very excited when she gets her food. We then go out for a 20-30 min walk. She is a puppy and still needs some training on walk on leash. She has the typical Jindo behavior where she chases everything that moves….whether it is a bird or a leaf blowing in the wind. During the day, she will find a sunny spot to nap or stay close to me when I work. I take her out once or twice during the day to reinforce her housetraining.' PomPom gets so excited to see her foster mom in the morning or when she comes home from errands. She is a mellow puppy and will be good for someone who is not looking for a high energy puppy. She loves playing with her stuffed toys and occasionally will join in on the zoomies with the other dog in her foster home. She likes to be in the same room as her foster mom or where her other dog is. She is affectionate, but not the super clingy type. PomPom loves belly rubs and will flip over on her backs to ask for belly rubs.  Her foster sibling is a mini poodle and they get along great. She just rolls with whatever is tossed her way. She has also met her foster mom's neighbor’s dog who is very active and she did just fine. She is a little intimidated by big dogs. She will act more shy and cautious around big dogs. Housetraining is still work in progress and she is getting better each day! She hasn’t chewed anything that she is not supposed to but loves to play with her toys. she doesn't dig and is not a nuisance barker. PomPom is only an option for homes that have had a dog of their own as an adult. If there are any children in the home they need to be over the age of eight.May 29, 2023, 2:06 pm

Johnny Boy   - You would never know Johnny Boy is 13 when he gallops through the house first thing in the morning, ready for his walk!  A bit hard of hearing, he loves to explore and is happiest on the leash, sniffing his way through his neighborhood. Affectionate and curious. Energy Level?  Medium House trained?  Yes Describe how they are on leash?  Johnny loves going for walks. He is good with people but barks and lunges at other dogs when he sees them. Describe how they are with other dogs? He is very  good with his foster brother, Wrigley. They groom each other and often sleep in the same crate. Have they been around cats or other animals? How were they?  A bit too interested in the resident cat initially but now happily ignores him...for the most part. Commands they know?  Wait (before heading out the door for a walk) and crate. Johnny is hard of hearing, if not nearly entirely deaf, so visual or physical commands are needed (ie, a light tap on his butt). What are their favorite things?  Johnny loves to go for walks and enjoys curling up on his (or my) bed. He loves treats as well. What do they need to work on?  General commands...sit, stay. He needs to learn to walk more calmly on the leash when he sees another dog. How are they when left alone? How long have they been left alone?  I have left him at the house for up to 8 hours a few times a week. Not destructive and knows how to use the doggy door. He can be whiny if he hears I am in the next room, but he calms down when I leave the house. Where do they sleep?  Sleeps in his crate in my bedroom. What is their ideal home?  Johnny loves to go for walks...his ideal home would allow him the freedom to explore his neighborhood with a few walks every day. He can get a bit whiny initially if he is separated and knows you are still in the house. He loves to be near his person (he's not necessarily a lap dog, but he likes to be close).
