Story
**Note: Gongsook is currently in Korea. When she finds her forever home in San Francisco, she will be flown to her new destination. ----------------------------------------- Gongsook is a special survivor, the only one of three puppies from a Jindo mom in a small town near our partner shelter. She's been living happily with other dogs since we brought her to the shelter. She's a sweet, gentle, and friendly pup. Gongsook gets along well with all dogs, big or small, and tends to be quite submissive. It's heartwarming to see other dogs love and adore her, often licking her face. She walks nicely on a leash and is usually very quiet. Gongsook hardly ever barks and loves to show affection. With her medium energy level, she's calm and easygoing. Gongsook would be a wonderful choice for first-time dog parents or as a second dog in a family. She's also happy being the only dog, as long as she's not left alone. Her gentle nature makes her an ideal furry friend. We're looking for her forever home in Seattle, San Francisco, or LA. We anticipate that Gongsook will reach an adult weight of approximately 18 to 20 kg when she's fully grown. Please note that Gongsook will be spayed in early February, as she is currently too young for the procedure. ------------------------------------------- For more info about Gongsook, or the adoption application, please follow the link below. https://www.freekoreandogs.org/dog/gongsook/

Story
** NOTE: Mars is currently in Korea, but he will be flown to San Francisco once he finds his forever home in SF. -------------------------------------------- Mars was born to a mom who was saved from the dog meat trade just before giving birth. This strong mom had four puppies soon after being rescued, and Mars is one of them. Mars started a new life this spring at our partner's boarding house. There, he's shown how lively and fun he is. He's playful and friendly with other dogs, making him a popular pup among them. Mars completed leash training at a dog school, showcasing his eagerness to learn and adapt. His intellectual curiosity pairs harmoniously with his natural charm, making him an ideal companion for those seeking both a playful and trainable furry friend. But Mars' true magic shines when he's with people. Fearless in the face of strangers, he greets newcomers with a wagging tail and sparkling eyes, eager for the affection and head strokes he adores. His genuine warmth is a testament to his resilient spirit and his unwavering belief in the goodness of humans. Mars' ideal home is one where he can flourish, a place where companionship is a priority. If you work from home or are enjoying retirement, Mars would thrive in your company. He longs for a playmate who'll cherish his energy and exuberance, spending quality time together. Your home could be the haven he's been waiting for, where he can leave behind his past hardships and embrace a future filled with love and joy. -------------------------------- For more info about the dog or the adoption application, please follow the link below. https://www.freekoreandogs.org/dog/hwasung/

Story
**NOTE: Currently, Sophie is in Korea, waiting for her forever family in San Francisco. If you are interested in adopting her, please check out our adoption process. >> https://www.freekoreandogs.org/adoption/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sophie is a dog born in May 2022, part of a litter of five. Her early days required special care, as she was hand-raised due to her mother's health issues. She has spent most of her life in a foster home, sharing space with her foster parent and four other rescue dogs. Sophie loves to be close to humans, even when sleeping, and greets her foster family with joyful jumps when they return home. Despite her love for company, Sophie has an independent streak and enjoys playing by herself. She has lived with up to eight dogs but seems to prefer being an only dog. Sophie is a bit territorial about her space, food, and toys, especially around other dogs. However, she's friendly and well-mannered with other dogs she meets outside, like at the dog park. Sophie enjoys walks but she pulls on her leash a bit when she's excited or chasing small animals. She's calm during baths and rides well in a car, even on long trips. Diet-wise, Sophie eats a single-protein duck formula (Go Go Feed Solution LID Duck) to avoid allergies, as she sometimes chews on her front legs. She does best-avoiding beef, pork, and chicken, sticking to duck-based foods and natural snacks. Sophie doesn't show signs of separation anxiety, especially if she has a good walk before being left alone. Sophie is a bright, affectionate dog who loves human companionship. She responds well when called by her name. Sophie would thrive in a loving home where she can be the center of attention and form a strong bond with her guardian. She will be most comfortable as the only dog. ----------------------------------- To learn more about Sophie or the adoption application, please follow the link below. https://www.freekoreandogs.org/dog/sophie-2/

Story
story: Thank you for interested in adopting Buddy. Please know that Buddy is an international rescue. When your application is approved, you will need to pick him up from the airport - such as SFO, SEA, JFK, LAX, ONT, IAH, etc. International adoption is not a complicated process and we've done the process many years. We would be happy to explain to you how the process works. Buddy is not high in energy level and likes to take a slow walk, taking time to observe and sniff other things. When he was a puppy, he was small and weak and was bullied by his siblings. He gets nervous towards other dogs. He is not comfortable when the other dog tries to dominate and when the other dog has a young puppy energy so much that it can annoy others. However, once he becomes friendly with other dog, he gets along very well. He stayed in the shelter for a long time so he lacks socialization but he is gentle and careful once he decides to be a friend with the people and the dogs. Now, he is under socialization training. He has not met children yet but is generally calm and good with people. The foster believes buddy is calm and friendly with anyone and so can be with children. Buddy is nervous but stays calm in the crate. He behaves well when he is alone in home. He is under leash training. If he gets scared he just stops and refuses to move. When he gets scared during walks, he leans on the people next to him and depends on the person for protection. With something he has not eaten before, he doesn’t eat it right away. He rubs it on his body first. After he tries it one or two times, he doesn’t do it anymore. Lacking various experiences, he gets scared easily but is also good at overcoming them. If you’re interested in adopting Buddy, feel free to contact us for more info! Thank you.

Thank you for interested in adopting Cracker. Please know that Cracker is an international rescue. When your application is approved, you will need to pick him up from the airport - such as SFO, SEA, JFK, LAX, ONT, IAH, etc. International adoption is not a complicated process and we‘ve done the process many years. We would be happy to explain to you how the process works. Rescue story: The rescuer feeds some stray dogs far away from her home and she found a mama dog with 4 puppies. She was not able to help them but only could give them enough food to survive. One day, one of the puppies voluntarily came close to the rescuer and when she held the puppy, she found the puppy was covered by ticks and fleas and was in a very bad condition. The rescuer decided to find all of the dogs and was able to capture the mama dog and the rest 3 puppies. Cracker is not so active and more calm than other dogs in his age. He likes people very much. He is friendly with the dog in the foster. He is not interested in meeting new dogs. In the current foster, he doesn’t play much with the foster’s dog and follows the foster all the time. Cracker used to get carsick and drool. He is now good with drives as long as 40 minutes but he is getting better and stays good for longer drives. Cracker is good on leash and can be controlled well during walks. His reaction to new dogs, especially when they are big, is different whether he is with the foster’s dog or not. When he is with the foster’s dog, he barks at the big dog. He seems to be a little scared and the fosters calms him down by commending him to sit and stay. When he becomes calm, he doesn’t bark anymore and behaves well. When he walks alone, he doesn’t bark at other dogs. He may get a little nervous but still listens to the foster’s commends like sit, stay and down. He is getting better.
