Story
Hi! My name is Danchu. 🤍
I'm a 4-year-old Jindo mix boy weighing about 23 kg (51 lbs). I was rescued just before my time ran out at a shelter after living as a stray, and now I'm hoping my next chapter will be with my forever family.
I'm a big, handsome guy with tiny little bean-shaped eyes that everyone falls in love with. I might look serious at first glance, but don't let my tough appearance fool you—I’m actually a big sweetheart who can't stop wagging my tail whenever I meet people. People are my favorite! Whether we've just met or have known each other for years, I'll happily come over to say hello and ask for pets. If you scratch me, you'll see the biggest smile on my face. I do have a soft spot for men and tend to gravitate toward them in a crowd, but I love kind women just as much and enjoy making friends with everyone.
I also get along well with other dogs. As long as we have a polite introduction, I'm happy to go for walks, relax together, or even play with calm dog friends. Very energetic or overly excited dogs can be a little overwhelming for me, so I usually choose to give them some space. There is one thing I'd like you to know about me—I'm a little protective of my food. I can live with another dog if everyone respects each other's space, but meals and treats should always be given separately. Because of that, I think I'd be happiest as your one and only dog, soaking up all of your love and attention.
Outside, I'm full of energy! I could spend hours exploring trails, walking, or running through a grassy field. But once we're back home, I turn into a completely different dog. I'm calm, quiet, and happy to relax. Toys aren't really my thing—I much prefer nose work games or finding a cozy spot to nap. I think my favorite part about myself is that I know when it's time to play and when it's time to unwind. Walks are the highlight of my day! The moment I see my leash, I get so excited. I may pull a little at the beginning because I can't wait to get outside, but after I've settled down, I walk comfortably alongside my person.
One more thing… I absolutely love being petted! You can rub just about anywhere, and I'll happily soak up the attention. The only exception is if you hold onto my front paws for too long—I might gently put my mouth on your hand as my polite way of saying, "Okay, that's enough!" I never mean to hurt anyone; I'm just letting you know how I feel. I usually do all of my potty business during walks and don't normally have accidents indoors. Like many dogs, I may need a little time to adjust in a brand-new home, so a few accidents at first are possible, but once I settle into a routine, I do very well. My crate is my safe little bedroom. When I want some quiet time, I happily go inside on my own to relax.
There are just a couple of things to keep me safe. Fast-moving animals like cats and birds can trigger my instinct to chase, so I'd do best in a home without cats. And because I get excited about adventures, it's important to keep me securely leashed on walks and be careful when opening doors, since I might try to dash outside to see what's waiting for me. Even though I was abandoned once, I never stopped loving people. I still greet every new person with a wagging tail and hope that maybe, just maybe, I've found someone who will love me forever.
All I want now is a family who will never give up on me. In return, I'll fill your days with loyalty, companionship, and endless love.
