Story
Meet Jadu   Jadu is a beautiful 6-year-old Jindo/Spitz mix who has spent most of her life waiting for a family of her own. After surviving years in a shelter environment, she is finally getting the chance to learn what safety, trust, and love truly feel like.   Name: Jadu Age: 6 years Sex: Spayed Female Breed: Jindo / Spitz Mix Weight: 13kg Height: 48cm Color: Brown / Black   Rescue Story Jadu entered a municipal shelter in July 2020 and spent nearly 5 years there, even giving birth during her time in the shelter. In July, she was placed on the euthanasia list and was rescued just in time. Because she is especially fearful of large men, she moved into the AKR center in May 2026 to begin preparing for adoption and to work on confidence-building and socialization training with men.   Personality with People Jadu can be a little shy at first, but food quickly wins her heart. With women, she becomes surprisingly affectionate and will even put her paws up gently to ask for treats and attention. She has a much more open and trusting personality with women, while men and young children may require more patience and slow introductions.   If approached too quickly without treats, she may initially move away, but rather than panicking, she will eventually sit nearby and wait calmly. Once she feels ready, she can be picked up gently without struggling or reacting negatively. She is currently continuing positive socialization training with unfamiliar men and is making gradual progress.   With Other Dogs Jadu greets unfamiliar dogs politely but is not particularly interested in playing. She coexists very well with both large and small dogs and has shown no issues living in a group environment. She is independent by nature and does not rely heavily on other dogs for confidence.   With Cats Her reaction to cats has not yet been observed, but testing can be arranged.   Energy Level Jadu has a moderate energy level. She enjoys outdoor activities and walks, but settles down nicely afterward and relaxes quietly at home.   Walks Because she spent so many years in the shelter, she has limited walking experience. However, she follows her handler well and walks nicely on leash. Busy roads can make her a little nervous, but she does not freeze, panic, or try to bolt.   Additional Notes • Does not guard food from people or dogs • Rarely barks • Calm and quiet in a kennel/crate • Currently uses outdoor potty only • Gentle, soft-tempered personality • Would do especially well in a quieter home environment or a female-only household   Jadu also has part of one ear torn, which is believed to have happened during her shelter years.   After years of surviving rather than truly living, Jadu deserves a patient and loving home where she can continue gaining confidence at her own pace. Once she trusts you, her gentle heart shines through beautifully. Apply to adopt or foster: https://adoptmekr.org  Please also visit our Facebook and Instagram! Meet Lilia – Currently in Vancouver!!! A Sweet and Social Puppy Ready for Her Forever Home!   Name: Lilia Age: 6 months Sex: Spayed Female Breed: Jindo Mix Color: Beige Weight: Approximately 8.5 kg (18.7 lbs) Height: Approximately 40 cm (15.7 in) at the shoulder   Rescue Story   Lilia was rescued from a municipal shelter in December 2025, just in time to begin her journey toward a brighter future.   ‍‍ Personality with People   Lilia is a friendly and affectionate puppy with a loving personality. She may be a little shy when meeting new people, but because she is still very young, she warms up quickly—especially when treats are involved.   Once she feels comfortable, she loves being petted and shows her sweet, playful side.   With people she knows well, Lilia becomes very affectionate and enjoys following her favorite person around the house. She tends to bond closely with her caregiver and would likely become a devoted little shadow to her adopter.   Her current caregiver is male, and she seems to have a slight preference for men, although she is friendly with women as well. She has not yet met children under 13 years old.   Lilia is comfortable being picked up and handled, and once she trusts you, she’ll happily roll over to show her belly for rubs.   Social with Other Dogs   Lilia is very social with other dogs. She happily approaches both familiar and unfamiliar dogs to say hello and invite them to play.   She gets along well with most dogs, especially those around her own age and size.   Very high-energy dogs can be a bit overwhelming for her, and when that happens, she simply chooses to move away.   Cats   Lilia has not been tested with cats, but cat testing can be arranged if needed.   Energy Level   Lilia has a medium energy level. She loves outdoor adventures and playtime, but she’s still a young puppy and tires fairly quickly.   After exercise, she settles down nicely and rests calmly.   Walking and Leash Skills   Lilia walks well on leash and generally follows her handler’s lead. Busy roads with heavy traffic can still make her a little nervous, but she continues to gain confidence with experience. ‍   Crate Training and Car Rides   Lilia settles quietly in her crate.   She is somewhat nervous about getting into the car and may need to be gently lifted in, but once inside, she remains calm.   House Training   Lilia is currently trained to use both pee pads indoors and to go potty outside.   Additional Notes   No food guarding with people or other dogs No signs of separation anxiety Like any puppy, she may still chew or get into mischief if left unsupervised   Why You’ll Love Lilia   Lilia is a wonderful combination of playful puppy energy and affectionate companionship. She is friendly, social, and eager to form a close bond with her family.   With love, patience, and continued guidance, Lilia will grow into a loyal and loving best friend.   If you’re looking for a sweet and social young dog who loves both people and other dogs, Lilia may be the perfect addition to your family! Story
Hi, my name is Milk 🐶 I’m about 6 months old, 10kg, and I’m a Jindo mix with a big heart and an even bigger curiosity for the world. I was rescued from a shelter where I was at risk of euthanasia, and ever since then, I’ve been learning that life can be full of love, fun, and kind people. Everything still feels new and exciting to me — every walk, every toy, every smell, every friend I meet. 😊 I absolutely LOVE people. I’ll happily follow you around, ask for cuddles, and show off my cutest little charms whenever I can. I also get along really well with other dogs and love running and playing with my furry friends. Because I’m still just a puppy, I have lots of energy and I’m still learning how to be on my own. Sometimes when I feel bored or lonely, I might chew on things or get a little anxious. But please remember — I’m not a “bad dog.” I’m simply a baby still learning about the world and how to feel safe in it. What helps me most is: 🐾 Lots of walks and playtime 🐾 Fun nose-work games and toys 🐾 Gentle practice being alone little by little 🐾 Calm, loving guidance and praise I’ve already experienced living in foster care, and I’m trying very hard to learn how to live happily with humans. With patience, routine, and love, I know I can grow into the most wonderful lifelong companion. Right now, I may still be clumsy, playful, and a little mischievous… but I promise my heart is full of love. I’m looking for a forever family who will stay by my side, teach me kindly, and love me through every stage of growing up. Could that family be you? 🤍

Story
Meet Duri!   Name: Duri Age: 1 year old Sex: Spayed Female Breed: Jindo Mix Color: Brown Weight: 12.5 kg (27.5 lbs) Height: 53 cm (21 in) at the shoulder   Rescue Story   Duri entered a municipal shelter as a puppy in May 2025. She is believed to be the littermate of Bomdong and Dallae.   ‍‍ Personality with People   Duri is a sweet and affectionate young girl who loves people once she feels safe.   In familiar environments, she confidently approaches strangers and enjoys attention.   In new places, she may need up to a day to decompress and assess her surroundings from the safety of her crate.   Once she feels secure, she quickly becomes friendly—approaching people, rubbing against them, and happily accepting pets.   She tends to feel more comfortable with women than men, but can warm up to anyone with patience.   Duri has met children under 13 and was very friendly and enthusiastic. She was so excited to say hello that the child actually felt a little overwhelmed by her affection!   She can be picked up by placing your arms under her belly, though she is still nervous when unfamiliar people lift her. When startled, she may squirm or occasionally urinate from nervousness.   Once she bonds with someone, she loves to roll over and show her belly.   Social with Other Dogs   Duri absolutely adores other dogs!   She eagerly approaches both familiar and unfamiliar dogs to say hello and invite them to play.   She can be very persistent and sometimes doesn’t realize when another dog is ready to stop playing.   ‍ She especially enjoys dogs of similar or larger size who can match her play style.   She tends to avoid overly intense or grumpy dogs.   Because she is so social, Duri would thrive in a home with another friendly, playful dog.   Cats   On walks, Duri watches cats with curiosity and may want to follow them in a friendly manner.   She responds well to redirection and continues walking when guided.   Cat testing can be arranged upon request.   Energy Level   Duri has a moderate energy level.   She enjoys walks, playtime, and outdoor adventures.   After exercise, she settles down nicely and relaxes quietly at home.   Walks   Duri walks very well with her foster family.   With new people, she may hesitate at first, but gains confidence quickly.   Additional Information   No food guarding with people or dogs Very quiet and rarely barks May bark once when startled by loud noises or the doorbell Makes adorable grumbling sounds when playing with dogs Calm and comfortable in a crate Needs to be lifted into the car Primarily potty trained outdoors Uses pee pads only if she misses a walk   Ideal Home   Duri would love a patient family who understands that she may need a little time to adjust to new environments.   A home with another playful dog would be wonderful.   Once she feels safe, Duri becomes an affectionate, playful, and loyal companion who will bring endless joy to her forever family.   Duri is ready to find a loving home where she can continue to blossom! Good with dogs,
Story
🏠 Currently  in a Vancouver foster home Hi, my name is Tintin 🐾 I was rescued from a dog meat farm in South Korea together with my littermate, Toto. I had to survive day by day in a cold, narrow wire cage, but thankfully I was given a second chance at life through rescue. Now, for the very first time, I am learning what it means to be part of a real, loving family. Tintin is a 10-month-old young puppy. Everything is still new, and the world is full of things she is just beginning to discover. When she meets new people or finds herself in unfamiliar environments, she may take a step back and observe carefully. This isn’t out of fear, but rather because she is still learning about the world at her own pace. It may take a little time for her to fully open her heart, but once trust is built, Tintin shows a deeply devoted and special kind of love. She enjoys quietly leaning against the people she loves, staying close as if to say, “I feel safe with you.” In her foster home, she has been building a strong bond with her caregiver and is showing more stability and comfort each day. Within the home—her familiar space—Tintin can be a bit thoughtful and cautious around new people. She prefers to take her time observing and understanding a situation first, but with calm guidance and patience from her caregiver, she gradually relaxes and becomes more at ease. As a young dog still learning about the world, she needs a family who will not rush her, but instead allow her the time she needs. Tintin can live with other dogs and does especially well with calm, easygoing companions. Interestingly, she shows a much brighter and more playful side outside the home—at the dog park, she enjoys running and interacting happily with other dogs. She is still learning when it comes to things she values, like food or toys. However, Tintin is a smart and observant puppy, and with gentle, consistent guidance, she will continue to grow in a positive direction. Tintin has shown a strong curiosity toward cats and small animals, so she would do best in a home without them. There are still things she is learning, such as car rides and everyday routines. But Tintin is a young dog with so much potential, and with a little patience and love, she will grow into a truly wonderful companion. Tintin may not be the kind of dog who opens up to everyone right away. But for the person who takes the time to understand her, she will offer a deep, sincere, and lasting bond. A small life that once began in a cold cage is now ready to learn what it means to be loved in a warm home. Tintin is waiting for a forever family who will walk gently beside her, one step at a time. 🤍

Good with dogs,
Story
Meet Toto 🐾 Toto was rescued from a dog meat farm in South Korea together with his littermate, Tintin. He had spent his early life on a cold, narrow raised wire cage without proper care or freedom — a place where many dogs are confined for life before being sent to slaughter. Thankfully, Toto was given a second chance through rescue and is now beginning a new life. For the first time, he is learning what it means to experience kindness, safety, and love from people. Toto is growing out of his early puppy stage and entering an energetic and curious phase of life. Everything still feels new and exciting to him, and he approaches the world with bright curiosity and joy. He absolutely loves people — the moment someone calls his name or approaches, his tail begins to wag with excitement. He finds true happiness in being petted and receiving attention, and he thrives on human affection. Toto also gets along very well with other dogs. With his cheerful and affectionate personality, he brings warmth and positive energy to those around him. As a fairly active young dog, Toto would do best in a home that can provide regular walks and playtime to help him release his energy in a healthy way. He enjoys exploring, moving around, and engaging with his surroundings both indoors and outdoors. Like many young dogs, Toto is still learning. He will need guidance with potty training, basic manners, and learning how to settle calmly. However, because he is intelligent and highly people-oriented, he has great potential to grow into a wonderful companion with consistent and loving guidance. Toto shows strong curiosity toward cats or small animals and may try to chase them, so a home without cats would be the best fit for him. Rather than a quiet lifestyle, Toto is looking for a family who will share an active and joyful life with him — full of walks, play, and connection. Although his life began with painful memories, Toto continues to trust people and embrace the world with an open heart. This bright and loving boy is now waiting for a forever home where he can feel safe, settle in, and continue learning what it means to be truly loved. Please consider becoming Toto’s forever family 🤍
