Story
Don't let his old name fool you. There's nothing spooky about Mikey except how quickly he'll steal your heart (and possibly your shoe). This handsome guy is about 2 years old, weighs around 50 lbs, and is one of the sweetest souls you'll ever meet. He is probably a mix of many breeds, lab, spaniel etc... Mikey wakes up every morning bursting with joy, and when his people come home, he's so excited he can hardly contain himself. He even greets you with little love nibbles. It took him some time to open up and feel safe, and he's still nervous when new people come into the house. Mikey likes to do things on his own terms, so he needs a patient family who will let him settle in at his own pace. Once he feels secure, he is a total love bug. Mikey loves to play with his toys, his dog brothers, and even his cat brother! He's always up for a good tussle, but he's very gentle about it. He also does wonderfully with calm, respectful kids. This boy has a big appetite for life, and an even bigger appetite for food! He's extremely food motivated, which makes him a great student, and his favorite treat in the world is cheese. Mikey is fully potty trained, does well in a crate, and walks nicely on a leash. He isn't destructive, but if a shoe goes missing, check Mikey's spot first. You'll probably find it there. Mikey's ideal home: A quiet, calm household. A busy home with lots of noise and people (including kids) coming and going would be too much for him. At least one other dog to help build his confidence and keep him company. A patient family willing to let him warm up on his own timeline. Calm, respectful children are fine. He is cat-friendly too! If you have a peaceful home and a little patience to give, Mikey will repay you with a lifetime of love (and morning nibbles). Apply today to meet him! If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application .
