Story
Meet Kobe! Born in early January, this 25-pound cutie is a gentle soul who is blooming more and more every day. Kobe is a bit shy indoors at first—we think he is experiencing the comfort of a home for the very first time. While indoor life is still a little new and spooky, his true, carefree personality shines the moment his paws hit the backyard grass! Outside, he is pure joy, playful, and full of puppy fun. Kobe is currently learning the ropes from our amazing dogs. He is a total shadow who follows them everywhere to learn how to be a confident pup. Kobe also absolutely LOVES cats! He is a remarkably sweet boy who truly wants to trust and love. He has already made massive strides in a short time. Kobe just needs a patient family willing to give him the time and space to adjust at his own pace. Kobe will thrive in a home with at least one social, confident pup in the home. If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will be in touch! The adoption fee of $500 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm, and any other necessary medical treatment to ensure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe the breed, since our pups all come from shelters, we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *Please note that we are a foster home-based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Angel is a beautiful 9-year-old black Lab with the softest eyes and the sweetest heart. True to her name, she is a loving, affectionate girl who bonds deeply with her people and just wants to feel safe and cherished. Angel would thrive in a calm, patient home with someone who is around often and able to spend quality time with her. She does best in a quieter environment where routines are predictable and she can relax, decompress, and build trust at her own pace. Once she feels secure, Angel shows just how loving and devoted she can be. We are looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home for Angel. Starting as a foster gives her the chance to settle in gently and allows her future family to truly get to know her, with the option to adopt when everyone feels ready. More than anything, Angel’s greatest need is a person or family with the time, patience, and compassion to help her feel safe and loved. If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application . Story
I love to be loved! My name is Ginny, and I am a Shepherd/lab mix and a sweetheart all the way through. I am so happy when I have someone to play with me and who will throw balls and toys that I can chase. When I play outside, I can spin around in circles and fling a toy fly in the air so that I can chase it and then go lay on my bed an take a big nap.  I love a Kong with frozen yogurt or peanut butter and chew sticks.  I am 1 year old and about 57 lbs, walk like a very good girl on the leash, and am so smart that I became crate trained in 4 days. I follow my foster mom around the house, so I don’t miss out on anything that is happening. New adventures are so much fun. I like new places to go for a walk, hike, and car rides. I need to be lifted into SUV’s or trucks because they are too high. My foster mom thinks I am extra adorable when I tilt my head to the side and watch planes fly over in the sky or when I just sit outside and sniff the air with my eyes closed and my nose way up in the air.  I am dog friendly. I like to get the zoomies and run around, so I need a fenced yard. My foster mom hasn’t had me around cats, so I’m not sure if I like them.  I can be super mouthy when I want something, so an active family who has experience with active energetic dogs would be the best fit for me! I will be so grateful for a loving home that I will be your best buddy for life.   If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  . Story
Meet Mac, short for Macron, a two‑month‑old sweetheart with a playful spirit and a heart full of love. He currently lives with his two brothers and foster dog buddies ranging from 10 to 80 pounds, and he adores them all. But his very favorite thing in the world is people, especially ones who want snuggles. He melts right into their arms and happily hands out puppy kisses like tiny gifts. Mac is a joyful little explorer who loves playing with every kind of toy and getting belly rubs. He’s still learning about the world (sometimes with his mouth), and he’s working on his potty training like any young pup. After a day of play, he curls up in his dog bed. He’s wonderful with other dogs, gentle, affectionate, and full of that irresistible puppy charm. Mac is ready to find a family who will cherish his sweetness, laugh at his playful antics, and soak up all the snuggles and puppy kisses he has to give. He’s small now, but his love is already big—and he can’t wait to share it with his forever family.   If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application . Story
This beautiful girls name is Hilda and she is a 3 year old Lab- Pyrenees mix who weighs about 75 lbs. Hilda had a rough start to life, she was abandoned on a farm down South and gave birth to her puppies under a chicken coop. From poor nutrition Hilda's front legs are deformed. She can still walk and does a great job getting around, even jumps up on the couch for some love. Hilda is nervous with new people at first, it does take her a bit to warm, but who can blame her after all she has been through. She sleeps under her foster mom's desk during the day, that has become her safe space. A fenced in yard would be best for Hilda, so she has somewhere safe to be outside if she gets scared, she cannot run off. Once she trusts you its kisses and snuggles going forward. If you feel you may be the right fit for Hilda and can give her all the love she deserves, fill out an application she would love to meet you. I included a few before pictures so you can see just how far she has come. Our adoption process is usually quick but may take up to two weeks. When you find an animal you are interested in, we ask that you fill out an application as a first step so we can determine if your family is a good fit for the animal. If you are, then we will contact you to arrange a time for you and your family to meet the animal so you can decide if it is a good fit. If you currently have dogs, we require that the dogs be present at the meeting to make sure it's a good fit all around. Once compatibility is determined, we move on to the paperwork and finalize the adoption. If the meet is not a good fit, we will keep your application on file for 6 months and we will gladly consider your family for another dog.
