More About Banana Nut
With his people, Banana Nut is an absolute love. He bonds deeply, loves affection, and is happiest simply being near his humans — curled up on the couch, soaking up the sunshine, or snuggling in for the night. He’s generally sweet and gentle, eager to please, and listens well to his people.
And despite being a puppy, Banana Nut actually has a pretty great off-switch! He isn’t constantly bouncing off the walls and settles beautifully in the home. He even knows “find a spot” and will happily relax on the couch while his foster goes about their day. He is fully house trained, crates well overall, knows “sit,” and continues to show how smart and trainable he is. Of course, he still has his puppy moments. Banana Nut loves being outside, enjoys his occasional bursts of chaotic puppy energy, and can get VERY enthusiastic when he’s excited.
As Banana Nut has grown up in foster care, we’ve also learned more about what he needs to be successful.
Banana Nut has struggled with some barrier reactivity on leash and at the fence with other dogs. He has also developed resource guarding around things that are important to him, including food and toys. His foster has been successfully managing these behaviors and will be working with a trainer to help him continue making progress.
While Banana Nut has successfully lived with a confident senior dog, he has struggled with another more submissive dog in his foster home, particularly around resources. Because of this, we believe Banana Nut’s best match is a home where he can be the only pet. He may potentially be able to live with a confident, non-reactive dog his size or larger with thoughtful introductions, but he should not live with smaller animals.
Banana Nut is looking for someone who understands that loving a dog sometimes means loving the dog in front of you rather than expecting them to become something they aren’t. He doesn’t need a house full of canine friends to have a wonderful life. He needs people who will advocate for him, continue his training, manage his environment responsibly, and give him the structure and security that help him thrive.
In return, you’ll get one seriously handsome, deeply affectionate, goofy little guy who thinks being close to his people is about the best thing in the world. 🖤💙
And you don’t have to wonder whether he’ll be the right match. Banana Nut is eligible for our Foster-to-Adopt program, which gives an approved family the opportunity to bring him home for a 2–3 week trial period before finalizing the adoption. It’s a chance for everyone — Banana Nut included — to settle in and make sure it truly feels like the right fit.
Banana Nut may not be the puppy for every home — but for the right home, he has so much love to give.
