If you are interested in BAXTER or in adopting a pup in general, the first step is an adoption application. Download an adoption application here Please email the completed application to adoptionteam4.woofriver@gmail.com Please submit an application rather than an inquiry with no application attached. Meet Baxter 🐾 Baxter is a sweet, affectionate boy who takes his job as a professional snuggler very seriously! Give him some attention and he’ll happily soak it all up. And if you stop petting him before he’s ready, don’t be surprised if he gently paws at you to let you know he’s not finished yet. ❤️ Baxter loves being outside, enjoying tasty treats, and having a good chew toy nearby. He’s also a great little travel buddy who rides nicely in the car and walks well on a leash. Baxter enjoys the company of other dogs, but he’s just as happy hanging out with his people. He would do best in a home with another friendly dog to keep him company and help him feel comfortable. When meeting new people, Baxter can be a little timid at first, but it doesn’t take him long to warm up. Once he does, his affectionate personality really shines! Baxter is crate-trained and stays comfortably crated when his people are away. He’s a loving, easygoing companion who would make a wonderful addition to a family looking for a loyal cuddle buddy. Baxter’s favorites: 🐶 Other dogs ❤️ Snuggling and being petted 🌳 Spending time outside 🦴 Chew toys & treats 🚗 Car rides 🐾 Leash walks If you’re looking for a sweet boy who will happily be your shadow—and remind you when it’s time for more pets—Baxter may be your guy! His $550 adoption fee covers his interstate health certificate and the cost of transport to the New England area. For an adoption application on BAXTER click here Please email the completed application to adoptionteam4.woofriver@gmail.com. It typically takes us around 5 BUSINESS DAYS to process an application. We will reach out to you as soon as your application is processed. Thank you in advance for your patience. All of our dogs start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, some pups stay local in Memphis. Many others travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Pet Express Transport (https://petexpresstupelo.wordpress.com) for our Nashville, Knoxville and New England adoptions. For our Midwest adopters, we have our own private transport. Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff. Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding. Please LIKE Woof River on Facebook! Story
Meet Button!Button, aptly named because she was found as a stray at Buttonwood Park, is a 2yo 60lb lab mix. She's shy and SUPER timid with strangers at first (fair - we love an introverted queen), but once she warms up and comes out of her shell? She's like a COMPLETELY different dog.A certified silly goose. An absolute goober. Queen of the Zoomies. She is HILARIOUS to watch and interact with because she's just such an odd creature - obviously, we're saying that with UTMOST affection because her strangeness is so endearing.Button isn't overly affectionate so she won't be a velcro dog but she is a sucker for giving face kisses and she LOVES if you pat her butt like you're playing bongos. She LOVES tennis balls. She's not great at catching them but she's doing her best. She's super food motivated, learns quickly and, once you earn her trust, she's your best friend. She enjoys her walks and does pretty well on a leash for a young lady of her size. She can be a little pully but she listens to corrections well and has a good foundation of cues - sit, come, and wait, mostly. She's like a nosy neighbor at times - if she hears an interesting noise, she HAS to know what's going on whether it involves her or not. Button has shown zero issues with cats - she doesn't even want to make eye contact with the growly ones but has no issues going nose to nose with the nice ones. She hasn't been officially tested with other dogs yet (we'll be doing that in the coming days) but we imagine it will be much the same as with people - timid at first, especially with bouncier "in your face" dogs but otherwise fine. Kids 12+ though exceptions may be made for the right family with the right experience. To apply, visit foreverpaws.com and click adopt to download our application. Once complete, you can email it to us at fpas1@foreverpaws.com.
