Story
Rhett is a happy-go-lucky Labradoodle with a heart full of love and a personality that will keep you smiling! This sweet boy is the definition of a loyal companion—he loves to stay close to his person and quickly becomes your little shadow wherever you go. Rhett is not only adorable, but he’s also incredibly well-mannered and eager to learn. He’s crate trained, house trained, and already picking up on great habits in his foster home. He’s mastered waiting patiently for his meals (even with a wagging tail and a little scoot closer!) until he hears the magic words, “okay, go!” He’s also learned boundaries like a pro—even resisting the temptation to follow his humans everywhere by respecting off-limit spaces. This smart pup is very trainable and has already made big progress—like learning how to navigate stairs (he was a little clumsy at first, but he’s getting the hang of it!). He has great recall, walks nicely on a leash, and loves nothing more than a good game of fetch. Rhett is friendly with everyone he meets and does wonderfully with other dogs. He’s playful, affectionate, and always ready for fun, making him the perfect addition to a loving home looking for a joyful, devoted companion. If you’re looking for a sweet, smart, and playful best friend, Rhett just might be your perfect match. 💛 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at https://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/forms PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN RHODE ISLAND AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Story
Meet Dougie, an adorable 2-year-old lab/poodle mix who is full of personality! This little guy is not only funny and goofy but also incredibly playful, making him the perfect companion for anyone who loves adventure. Dougie thrives on fun, whether it’s chasing a ball in the yard or exploring new trails on a hike. His affectionate nature shines through in his love for cuddling. After an exciting day of play, you can often find him snuggled up next to his favorite humans, soaking up all the love and attention. Dougie is fantastic with kids and has a demeanor that makes him a great playmate. Additionally, he gets along well with other dogs, and he would flourish in a home with another canine companion. While Dougie is sociable and friendly, he would thrive in a feline-free home, as his instincts may lead him to chase them. His intelligence is evident as he is already crate trained and housebroken, showing that he can quickly learn and adapt to his environment. Dougie is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and ready to find his forever home. If you’re looking for a loyal friend who will bring joy, laughter, and a sense of adventure into your life, Dougie might just be the perfect match for you!

Story
Meet Kodak!Kodak is the president of Goofy Ears R Us and he takes his role very, very seriously. Which is good because he takes absolutely nothing else in life seriously.A young lab mix at about seven months old, Kodak is FULL of life and energy. He WILL need training, of course, as he's (literally) a puppy with little to no manners. We're teaching him what we can at the shelter but he's going to need consistency so his training WILL need to be continued in his forever home. He's about 46lbs right now and will probably be around 55-60lbs when full grown.Kodak LOVES other dogs. Like, he is obsessed with them. His enthusiasm knows no bounds so he can be a little much for older dogs that have zero patience for shenanigans or for more introverted dogs that want NO part of his nonsense. But a dog that will match his energy? It will be comedy hour 24/7. We would prefer not placing him with cats because he does not understand angry cat language and he WILL instigate like a teenage boy. He also loves people. He's an extrovert to the extreme. He loves getting attention, loves being involved in whatever it is you're doing, and loves playing with toys. He's definitely got mouthy puppy energy (again, he'll need training) so we would recommend older kids (12+) or an adult only home until he's learned his manners. He DOES have skin allergies so adopters will need to stay on top of monitoring his skin and seeking vet care when necessary. To apply, visit foreverpaws.com and click adopt to download our application. Story
Meet Morris! While he may have the distinguished white face of a dapper older gentleman, don't count him out just yet!Morris is about seven years old and weighs just around 53lbs. He's a good, solid, medium sized boy and he's a lab/shepherd mix. He's got the sweet, silly, extroverted personality and the overwhelming NEED to be friends with everyone of a lab and the brains of a shepherd. When we say that Morris wants to be friends with everyone, we mean EVERYONE. Other dogs, cats, humans, it doesn't matter. He's been super respectful of itty bitty kittens and, once one of our grumper cats started her grumbling, he turned around and noped right out of the room. Despite being seven years old, Morris absolutely LIGHTS UP around other dogs - it's all play bowing and whining and hopping around because all he wants to do is play with them! He's an absolute sucker for butt scratches and will swing his butt at you until he gets the attention he wants. There is no avoiding the booty bump. He's decent on a leash but can pull a little heavy when he really wants to get somewhere. He knows sit and give paw and will give you both of his paws whether you asked for them or not. He's shown mild interest in tennis balls (will chase and boop them) but doesn't seem all that into toys - he's way more into people and other dogs! If you're looking for a social, sweet, easygoing, gentle older guy...Morris might be your soulmate. To apply, visit foreverpaws.com and click adopt to download our application. Once complete, you can email it to us at fpas1@foreverpaws.com.
