Story
Meet Cali! Cali is a 4-month-old lab mix puppy with a sweet and gentle soul. Born to a feral mom, she and her siblings spent the first couple of months of their lives without much human interaction, so she’ll always be a bit shy. But once Cali warms up, she’s the most easygoing and lovable companion you could ask for. Cali adores other dogs and finds confidence in following her four-legged foster siblings. She’s doing great learning the ropes, including house training and using the doggie door. At night, Cali cozies up in bed with the children in her foster home (they even argue over whose turn it is to snuggle with her!). Cali is looking for a patient and loving family with another dog to help her continue building trust and confidence. If you’re ready to give this sweet girl a safe and happy forever home, Cali will fill your life with quiet love and gentle loyalty. Story
Chicken Nugget, who we lovingly call Nuggie, is absolutely amazing. He's happy, loving, and kind of lazy. Don't get us wrong, he loves a romp to the pond and a swim, but he's just as happy laid out on the floor at your feet. Nuggie was dumped in someone's front yard on a dirt road, but fortunately for him, they were kind dog people and they took him in. He's been in a foster a few months, and now that he's fully vetted, he's ready for a home! Chicken Nugget is a yellow lab/hound mix, probably born some time in March 2025. He's great with other dogs and cats, and with kids. He's good in the house. He hasn't really been crated, but he's super chill so will probably be OK. Nuggie is ready to hang out and go swimming with a new family! Story
Some dogs are so wonderful that we truly can’t understand how they end up dumped on rural dirt roads. Bennett — named after the road where he was found — is one of those dogs. From the moment he was picked up, Bennett was calm, sweet, and trusting. He’s a genuinely happy, friendly boy who will happily crawl into anyone’s lap and promptly fall asleep. If you’re looking for a professional snuggler, he’s got the job covered. There’s definitely some black Lab in his mix (and who knows what else), but whatever the combination is, it’s a really great one ❤️ Bennett loves other dogs, gets along with cats, and adores every person he meets. He enjoys a good romp, a little pond time, and then settling in for cuddles. Bennett does well in the house. He hasn’t had much experience with a crate yet, so that’s still an unknown, but he’s an easygoing guy who just wants to be near his people. Born around March 2025, he is fully vetted and more than ready for his forever home — and all the belly rubs that come with it. Story
Affectionately called "Tiny Terra" by her foster pawrents, this gorgeous little pup is an adorable mixture of sassy and sweet. Terra is a medium sized mixed breed that we guess is part Lab and part who knows. She was pulled from a local shelter after being put on the euthanasia list. We saved her, got her healthy and this little pup is ready for her furever! And yes, her ears do naturally stand like that. We're in love with them too. Terra is a precious pup that loves to play but has also settled into an amazing pup that enjoys a good cuddle and movie on the couch. She loves to play in the yard and would adore having a 4 legged sibling that likes to play. She also enjoys going for runs or walks in the neighborhood. This girl handles car rides like a pro and immediately starts the sniffs when you crack the window. She is naturally curious though so an owner that can help establish boundaries would be better. She's managed to get her nose in our coffee cups more than once but isn't destructive. This playful pup will be an amazing addition to the right family. Terra would be great with older kids that are steady on 2 legs. She's incredibly smart, knows sit and working on place, house trained, crate trained, and knows her leash manners. Terra corrects easily and is very sensitive so gentle guidance will be all you need for her. She can get chatty when she's frustrated, like when her 4 legged siblings don't want to play. :D A simple "that's enough" and she settles. If you're interested in learning more about this gorgeous girl or would like to apply and have her join your family, please submit this form: dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form. We'll forward it to her foster mom who will reach out from there.
