Story

Bernie is my Covid adoptee that I saved from a shelter five years ago. He was supposedly nine when I adopted him, but my vet thinks he was probably four then. His records say he’s now 14 or 15 but I believe he’s more like 11. He’s gotten old and slow inside, but outside he is still very strong and fast. Bernie has grown up with my children from newborn, never any issues there. He follows them around and misses them while they’re gone. He also lived with a 20 pound cockapoo. I didn’t know Bernie‘s name, but he seemed to answer it and resembled a Saint Bernard, has none in him though. I believe Bernie had been left outside behind a gate as an adolescent. While he’s very well housebroken, his leash manners are only mediocre, and behind a fence he will certainly come off as defensive by barking. Unleash he is very, very excited to see other large dogs. He does not know how to approach playtime, but under supervision he has always been good around other friendly dogs. Has never bitten.

Banjo is the sweetest dog you could ever imagine! He is a 6 year old lab/beagle mix and will make the perfect family dog. We are needing to re-home him due to sickness and allergies, but we would keep him forever if possible. He's been raised around our 3 kids and is gentle, patient and loves snuggles (see picture 2). He deserves a yard or lots of room to play fetch, he LOVES catching balls and could do it all day (see picture 4). Loves the water, too. He is great with guests in home, greeting with tail wags, wiggles, and kisses (if desired.) He is well behaved and comes when called. We really want him to go to a family who will adore him, snuggle him, and play fetch with him. We would love to set up a meet and greet. Comes with his self filling water tank, food bowl, and food storage box, and of course a ball and thrower :)

Jake (the smaller brother) and Jackson (the bigger brother) are two sweet, shy boys who are just beginning to learn what safety and love feel like. Rescued from the rural hills of Puerto Rico, these brothers relied heavily on one another for comfort and reassurance. They are gentle, quiet, and very sensitive souls who take in the world carefully. While they are still timid, they are curious and making steady progress as they learn that people can be kind. Jake and Jackson are currently being evaluated to see if they must be adopted together. If they do not end up staying as a bonded pair, each will require another friendly, confident dog in the home to help them feel secure. They do best in a calm environment with a securely fenced yard, as they are still learning to feel comfortable on leash and gain confidence outside. They enjoy exploring a safe backyard, playing with toys, and accepting treats once trust begins to build. Both sleep through the night, use potty pads consistently, and settle nicely in their beds. These boys are not pushy or demanding; they simply need patience, gentle guidance, and time. In return, they offer quiet companionship, soft affection, and the kind of loyalty that grows slowly but deeply. Riley is a sweet, silly 4-year-old pup who’s come such a long way from surviving on the streets to being the best work-from-home buddy, TV binge partner, and walking companion you could ask for. I’ve loved watching him settle into foster life—he’s got this goofy grin and gentle soul that just makes you smile. He’s been crushing it in group training classes at Zoom Room St. Pete lately, picking up new skills fast and proving what a smart, eager learner he is. With slow introductions, he does great with dogs of all sizes (he’d love a playful dog sibling at home), cats, and all kinds of people. He’s not a dog park guy, but he lights up for good romp sessions. Riley was heartworm positive when rescued, but he powered through treatment and is now heartworm negative and in fantastic health. He’s fully house trained with perfect indoor manners, and his absolute favorite thing in the world is belly rubs—closely followed by cuddles, snuggles, and just being near his people. He’s a big-hearted lovebug ready for a forever home where he can keep bringing that loyal companionship, laughter, and endless affection. Rosie is about 6 years old and one of the sweetest, most resilient girls you will ever meet. She has overcome so much and is finally ready for the calm, loving life she deserves. She was rescued in January 2024 during a spay and neuter clinic in the Bahamas. After her surgery, she was supposed to be returned to the area she came from, but we were told she was at risk of being poisoned if she went back. We could not let that happen. Instead, we flew her to Florida and into a safe foster home. That decision changed her entire future. Before rescue, Rosie was likely used repeatedly for breeding. In 2024, she went through extensive medical care with us and handled every step with quiet strength. She tested positive for TVT after her rescue and completed treatment in the spring of 2024. By summer 2024, she was officially cancer free. Later in 2024, she had a hernia removed from her backside. She also tested positive for heartworm and completed treatment in November and December 2024. She has since tested negative and is heartworm free. Last year she was also diagnosed with early kidney disease. She manages beautifully on a renal diet and does not require any medications at this time. She also has some arthritis in her back legs, which is well managed with Librela injections. With this support, she remains comfortable, happy, and mobile. After everything she has endured, Rosie is now a healthy, stable, easygoing girl. She is affectionate, gentle, and so ready to be someone’s steady companion. She has been waiting for her forever home since January 2024, and she truly deserves a soft place to land. Rosie is not defined by her past. She is defined by her resilience, her sweetness, and her ability to love despite it all. Now she just needs someone to love her back for the rest of her life. ##2008255##
