MAXX & ME PET RESCUE adoptable dogsHere’s some things you should know about Tom Buchanan ♥&#239&#184&#143 Tom loves his people! When you earn the trust and attention of this guy, he’s ALL in for LIFE. So if you’re looking for a &#226&#156&#168TRUE BFF &#226&#156&#168, Tom could be your man. ‍Tom has been excelling in training (sit, stay, touch, place, inside, down, crate, wait). Neighbors tell us all the time that he’s so well behaved when they see him out and about. So if you’re looking for a good-example dog, someone who will make YOU look good, ‘cause he’s so on his game, Tom could be the dog for you! He love love loves a good squeaky toy, especially when you’re trying to watch an intense movie. … He just wants to help you keep things in perspective, stay calm, not get too freaked out, and if squeaking a toy with all his might helps you, well then Tom is happy to oblige. He’s not real sure of people that aren’t in his circle... He’s not mean, he’s just timid until he gets to know you. He’s a “earn my trust” kinda guy. But with those types comes the intense love and loyalty of a shadow dog! He’s not the biggest fan of going out - like literally he doesn’t like to GO OUT THE DOOR - but once the leash is on and he’s starts to strut down the sidewalk, he does AMAZINGLY well! A la “Staylin’ Alive” vibes! Well you can tell by the way I use my walk I’m a woman’s man, no time for talk… Tom is not a fan of cars moving around him - he’s no dummy. He knows those noisy giants could be dangerous! But if he’s inside the car - headed to an adventure - he’s a great passenger! Tom is a BIG fan of his foster siblings - teenage kids who can both play outside for long stretches with him AND who are good gaming (aka snuggling) for extended periods. He sleeps with one of his foster kids or in his crate. He’s a good boy for both options! While Tom is a huge fan of his older kids and would absolutely LOVE having some of his own, little kids are LOUD and unpredictable and on his ABSOLUTELY, NO THANK YOU list. He loves dogs of all sizes AND knows how to play regardless of the size. He is gentle and respectful of the littles and will rough and tumble play with the pups who are big enough to do that! How Tom is still searching for his forever fam we will never understand. Regardless, we will NEVER rush the process and will continue to hold out for a perfect fit for our guy! Cookie is the sweetest dog. I adopted her when she was 1 and she is now 7. I have another dog and they get along well, this is a difficult decision for me but ultimately best for her. I got her when I was in a different life stage now she does not get the exercise she needs, I live in a studio and in an apartment, and she is reactive with other dogs on leash. She is trained (she went to doggy boot camp intensive for two weeks) so she knows sit, lay down, stay, heel- with shock collar. She is a little anxious in social settings but does well with her collar and some attention/training. She is so loving and a little cuddle bug. She is good with kids but has not been exposed to them much, and would do best on a fenced in property with lots of room to run her energy out! She is an attention hogggg and so so so sweet, and a cuddle bug. This is a difficult decision for me but best for her :( looking for a really good home where she can flourish.

Meet Riley – The King of Belly Rubs!   Riley is a sweet, silly, ~4-year-old pup who went from surviving on the streets to thriving in a loving foster home. Found as a stray, he quickly proved himself to be the ultimate work-from-home buddy, TV binge partner, and loyal walking companion.   Smart & Eager to Learn: Riley recently started group training classes at Zoom Room St. Pete and he’s doing AMAZING! He’s picking up new skills quickly and showing off what a smart, trainable boy he really is.   Dog-Friendly & Playful: Riley does well with slow introductions and once he feels comfortable, he’s fantastic with dogs of all sizes, cats, and humans alike. He’s not a dog park regular, but he truly enjoys playtime and would love to have a doggie sibling to romp around with at home.   Healthy & Happy: Riley was heartworm positive when rescued but has successfully completed treatment and is now heartworm negative and in great health!   House Trained & Affectionate: He’s fully house trained and has perfect indoor manners. Riley’s favorite things? Cuddles, snuggles, and of course, belly rubs! He’s a big-hearted lovebug who just wants to be close to his people.   If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a gentle soul and a goofy grin, Riley could be your perfect match. He’s ready to bring love, laughter, and a whole lot of snuggles into his forever home   ##1480510##

Story
Meet Rosie: A True Warrior Looking for Her Forever Home!   Rosie is a 4-6 year old sweetheart who has overcome so much and is now ready for a fresh start! Rescued in January 2024 during a spay/neuter clinic in the Bahamas, Rosie was at risk of being poisoned if returned to the area she came from. She was supposed to be returned as a part of the clinic process, but we just couldn't put her at risk so we flew her to Florida and into a foster home. Despite everything she’s been through, Rosie is an incredibly loving and kind soul.   Before being rescued, Rosie was likely used for breeding repeatedly. She's undergone a lot of medical care with us and is so resilient. She tested positive for TVT after her rescue and underwent treatment last spring and was deemed cancer free last summer! She also had a hernia removed from her backside last fall. She tested  heartworm positive and went through her treatment in November and December and is awaiting her retest. We had to do all treatments in a specific order for her safety, but now  Rosie is a healthy, happy girl who is ready to live her best life!   Rosie has been waiting for her forever home since January 2024, and she truly deserves a second chance at a loving, fulfilling life. Could you be the one to give her the forever home she’s been patiently waiting for?   ##2008255##

Story
Shadow is a sweet, resilient soul who has endured more than most dogs should in his five years of life. Rescued from the streets of Puerto Rico, he found his way to Tampa Bay and was given the gift of a loving home. But after a cross-country move triggered severe anxiety, Shadow was surrendered—his little heart broken once again.   For a while, things looked brighter. Shadow was adopted by another family and started to find comfort again. But when his vision began to fade, his family chose not to seek answers and returned him to us. He came back overweight, with swollen ankles, and carrying the weight of heartbreak yet again.   We soon discovered that Shadow has a thyroid condition. With medication, a healthy diet, and proper care, he’s already improving and showing glimpses of the happy, playful pup he truly is. His vision loss may even be connected to this condition, and he’s undergoing further evaluation to give him the best chance possible.   Through it all—every setback, every loss—Shadow has remained the same at his core: a love bug who just wants to be close to his people. He deserves a calm, patient home where he can continue healing, feel safe, and finally be cherished for the incredible companion he is.   Shadow has been failed too many times, but we believe his forever family is out there. Please, help us find them. Share his story. Open your heart. Let’s give this brave boy the soft landing he has always deserved.   ##2177020##
