Story
🐕🐕🐕🐕McKenna🐕🐕🐕🐕 McKenna is literally the sweetest pup I’ve ever met, I can’t believe she hasn’t been scooped up! She was rescued from a shelter in Georgia where she and her sister were on the Euthanasia list due to space! She’s guessed to be a lab shepherd mix, but with all shelter pups, your guess is as good as ours! McKenna loves belly scratches, knows how to sit and lay down, and is already crate trained! She behaved perfectly at our adoption event today, and defaults to a sit or lay down when waiting patiently. She’s treat motivated and eager to please, wants to be your best friend and copilot! She curled up perfectly on the front seat on the way home 🥰 🐾 5 months old 🐾 fully vaccinated 🐾 already fixed 🐾 Dog, cat and kid friendly 🐈 🐕 👩‍👦‍👦 🐾 working on potty training, but still has an occasional excited accident, she’s just a pup! Fill out an application below or let us know if you have any questions!

Story
This elderly lady is around 10yrs old I believe, I’m not sure. She had been with her previous owner since she was about a year old. I’ve known Regan for around 4/5yrs now and other than having accidents due to being indoors longer than she could hold it she’s never had issues. She’s bonded with Mona who is also 11/12yrs old. They have been a pair since they were young. I’m hoping they can stay together. Their owner passed away last year and I have been trying to wait for a home placement but no one has come through yet. My lease is up at the end of the year and my landlord was gracious enough to give me time without charging me a pet fee due to the circumstances that surrounded me having the dogs. However, it was never my intention to keep them due to having a 12hr work shift 3 or 4 days a week. I was placed on shorter hours for the year but once I move back into my role I’m not sure how well the dogs can adjust to the additional time I’m away.

Story
Do you need a sensitive man in your life? Gunner is your guy! Gunner came to Indy from a Michigan shelter. He was pretty emaciated at 60 pounds (he’s a tall fella!), very sad, and very scared. He’s relaxed so much since he’s been with his foster family! He’s now a happy 70 lbs. His foster mom thinks his environment was very taxing on this sweet guy. He’s a reactive barker, but very easy to stop with distraction and gentle correction. It’s a work in progress. He’s an older gentleman (8-10). He’s fixed, up to date on vaccines, and up to date on preventatives. Gunner can sit, stay, shake, come and lay down! His fosters don’t know if he’s crate trained, but does just fine when left home with his foster siblings. Gunner’s favorite things are eating, car rides, treats, snacks, sticking his head out of the car window, breakfast, his ears flapping in the car window, dinner, napping, and bedtime. Needless to say, he’s a food motivated guy. One quirk is that he doesn’t like peanut butter. What dog doesn’t like peanut butter? Gunner also likes to cuddle with this foster mom on the couch and loves to sleep right in the middle of the bed. He really likes his human brothers. They’re older teens, but he’s so gentle that his fosters think he’d do well with smaller children. Gunner prefers small dogs to big dogs. Bigger dogs are much more scary and they take up a lot of his space. He and his foster mom are working for him to be more calm around his big foster siblings. He’s very respectful of his two small dog siblings. Need a car companion? Gunner absolutely loves to go in the car and wants to go everywhere his fosters go. He doesn’t share with toys too much yet, and that’s mostly because his foster brother doesn’t like to share toys. There have been occasions where he’ll chase a ball (sort of? But it’s not really chasing it, but he loves it?), likes to tug with a big rope, and is very content chewing a nice bone. Gunner doesn’t know a human stranger. He’s full of kisses for everyone!

Story
Birdie and his sister are rescues. They are border collie and lab mixes. They want nothing more than to chase a squirrel and then rest at your feet for the rest of the day. Small children make them nervous, so I don’t recommend a household with a child smaller than the dogs. Preteens and older would be great. They are sweet and lovable. They got very use to us being home over the pandemic and now that no one is home it is hard on them. Birdie would love to snuggle with you!

Hiya, my name is Lelaine. I am around a year old and 33 pounds, but I need to gain some weight. I am a very friendly lady. I can be grabby with treats because I am still learning that food will be available to me, but my shelter friends will help me learn to take them nicely. I give lots of kisses and love affection. My finder said I did great with children and their dog. Please remember that slow introductions are very important to set me up for success. I hope to meet you soon!**Please apply on our website at www.indy.gov/activity/adopt-a-pet. Go to the website, click on the adoption application link, enter the information and hit submit. Story
Hello Indianapolis! Thank you sooo soo much for checking out my profile! My name is Spud! I am 8 years old and weigh 42 pounds. I`m a friendly older fellow who would really love to find my person, so I can have my happily ever after story. I’ve been waiting over 90 days to get out and explore with my new family. love to sniff, explore, play with my stuffies, chaIse a ball, roll in the grass, and generally adore the outdoors! I`m also very smart and know how to sit, take treats gently, and would love to learn so much more! To be honest, other dogs really annoy me so I would really appreciate going solo with you on this quest - no other dogs please! t is unknown how I behave around cats or kids so a slow and proper introduction is the best way to set everyone up for success! The shelter does offer a cuddle before you commit program to ensure I am the absolute best fit for you and your home!**Please apply on our website at indy.gov/activity/adopt-a-pet. Story
Hello you beautiful humans! My name is Janice, so nice to meet you! I am a year and eight months old and weigh in at 51 pounds. I`m just a big, happy and wiggly gal! I love affection.. like a lot! I know sit, shake and down! See, I`m not just a pretty face, I`m smart too! I also love treats and will always take them ever so nicely from you! I love toys.. all kinds of toys, squishy ones, squeaky ones... ones that you throw, ones that you chew... really I love them all! I`ve been described as a big puppy and I`d have to agree.. who doesn`t love puppies? The only thing I`m not really fond of is cats, so my ideal home wouldn`t have those. It`s hard to meet new people and pets quickly after leaving the shelter. I might need some time in my new home to decompress and process my new surroundings before meeting the whole gang. That`s ok though because IACS offers a cuddle before you commit program to ensure I am the best fit for you and your home. We`ll have pleanty of time to get to know everyone! *Please apply on our website at indy.gov/activity/adopt-a-pet. *Click on the adoption application link, enter your information, and click submit. You can include multiple pets that you are interested in on one application. *Once you have submitted your adoption application, please visit the shelter to speak with one of our Adoption Counselors, who will assist you with meeting some of our animals. *We offer a Cuddle before you Commit program where you can slowly introduce it to the rest of your animals and family, and then finalize your decision. I hope to see you soon!
