Story
Timber came all the way from South Dakota. I’ve had him since the November of 2022, and been with me ever since. He is a very energetic dog, loves to play fetch, and loves attention. He’s a good listener but still needs some work as he gets extremely excited when he sees new faces. I’ve tried to figure out how to keep him, as I used to have a girlfriend that helped with him (no longer), and I have too busy of a schedule to give him the time and attention he needs. I’d really like for him to go to a home with a good sized yard or land for plenty of running, or someone that has an open schedule and can give him the attention he deserves.

Story
Zeus has been special to our family. If we had another option, he would stay in our home. Our son got Zeus about 10 mos. ago as 8 an wk old puppy while he was in college living off campus. He has transferred to another school which requires him to stay on campus and Zeus is not allowed in the dorms. Our family’s work schedule does not allow us to keep Zeus & give him the attention he needs & deserves for a healthy experience. As much as we’d love to keep Zeus, it’s more important for us to make every attempt to find a caring & loving home for him. Zeus will add so much fun, laughter, love & joy to any family. He loves hugs, eye contact, being talked to, hand shakes and belly rubs. He loves pleasing and looks forward to rewards. Those puppy eyes are dangerous & make him even more loveable! This will be a difficult transition our family, especially our son so we’re only interested in connecting with individuals who are sincere about this opportunity & will ensure he has the best of care.

Story
Birdie and his sister are rescues. They are border collie and lab mixes. They want nothing more than to chase a squirrel and then rest at your feet for the rest of the day. Small children make them nervous, so I don’t recommend a household with a child smaller than the dogs. Preteens and older would be great. They are sweet and lovable. They got very use to us being home over the pandemic and now that no one is home it is hard on them. Birdie would love to snuggle with you!

Story
"Personal space? What's that?" - Elva Elva is our resident Wiggle Queen and master of the zoomies! This playful pup needs more room to run and a family that can keep up with her energy. She's housebroken and crate trained, and she's got her commands down pat - sit, down, leave it, and off. When it comes to playtime, Elva is a toy enthusiast! Her favorite? Tennis balls, which she can turn into confetti faster than you can say "fetch!"Here's what her foster has to say:"Elva is hands-down the sweetest dog I've ever met. Her approach to cuddles is delightfully chaotic - imagine a wiggle-worm with an unending supply of energy trying to figure out how to settle in for a snuggle. She's got the heart of a lover, even if her technique needs some work. Just keep petting, and she'll eventually find her groove! And forget about ‘me-time'. Elva believes that if you're on the other side of a door, something's gone terribly wrong. Whether you're in the bathroom or taking a nap, she'll be right there, demanding full-time, doorless togetherness. When it comes to playtime, tennis balls are her jam! She's got a knack for turning them into confetti in no time. I had to keep a stockpile because her sad puppy eyes are impossible to resist when she's managed to shred another one. I mean, look at that face! Elva's energy levels are off the charts. She could run a marathon, take a power nap, and be ready for round two before you've even caught your breath. She's a whirlwind of fun, and with her around, life is one endless adventure!"Elva's been known to get the craziest zoomies when she's happy, zipping around with pure joy. While she's lived with other dogs before, she would probably love to be an only dog and be spoiled rotten! She's also had her fill of cats, so a feline-free home would be perfect for her. Elva's ideal family will have kids who are 14 years old or older, ready to join in on the fun and keep up with her antics.Elva can't wait to start her new life with you - it's going to be an adventure packed with love, laughter, and a whole lot of zoomies!

Story
Resilient and full of heart, Gruff's journey has shaped him into the remarkable dog he is today. A year ago, Gruff and his owners lost their home in a fire, leaving him with scars as reminders of that tough time. Since then, Gruff has lived outside on a tie-out, longing for a warm and loving home. When Gruff first arrived at HSHC, he was understandably scared. With time and patience, he blossomed into a social and willing companion. He spent four weeks in an administrative office, charming everyone with his friendly, affectionate, and mellow demeanor. Gruff's gentle and quiet nature, combined with his intelligence and quick bonding, made him a staff and volunteer favorite. Gruff is completely housebroken and was never destructive when left unattended. He loves playing with his toys and readily shares them to start a game. Now, Gruff is a super snuggler who adores forehead kisses and gets along great with older kids. He knows his commands and is eager to share his love and loyalty with a forever family. Could that family be yours? Give Gruff a chance to brighten your days and find the happiness he truly deserves!
