Handsome Chief is one of 5 Labrador mix puppies who escaped a tough situation but retained their gentle kindness. Chief loves his toys! His foster mom says he especially likes to gather up his toys and pile them in his secret hidey-hole. So cute! Chief has a short, velvety soft coat that is a joy to touch. He has been neutered and is up to date on shots: all included in his adoption fee. This boy will be a handsome dog for sure, and a great companion! He's a real favorite at his foster home.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Juno! Juno came to Safe Haven as a stray found between Marengo & South Amana. After never being reclaimed, he is ready to begin his search for his new forever home! Juno is a sweet, loving middle-aged boy. He enjoys being outdoors .... maybe he has never had a home to live in?? Since he was a stray, we don't know his history so we have learned a bit about him and will continue to get to know him. Juno appears to know basic commands like sit. He enjoys going for his daily walks and getting fresh air - no matter the temperature! :) Juno can be high-energy, so an active home that is able to continue his daily walks, safe outdoor time in a fenced-in yard, enrichment activities, etc. would be very appropriate for him and his personality. Since he has not been with us very long, he has not been directly introduced to other dogs in our shelter setting. Any potential adoption interest would need to set up a meet & greet visit with Juno and any other current dog(s) in the home. Safe Haven volunteers & staff do their very best to find the best suited homes for all cats and dogs under our care. Juno has been brought up-to-date on his vaccinations, he has been neutered, microchipped, and has begun monthly flea/tick & Heartworm preventatives - with all of this being said Juno is soon-to-be cleared for adoption and will be ready to begin his search for his new forever home.If you are interested in meeting or potentially adopting Juno, please complete an online adoption application. This application can be found on our website www.wesavepets.com. Once the application has been submitted, a Safe Haven volunteer will be in contact to discuss the next steps.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 22, 2024, 12:32 pm

Story
Bonnie’s brown eyes are a window into her soul. You can see her intelligence in them. Bonnie is a year old and weighs 32 pounds. She is very sweet and a great snuggler. Her favorite place to nap is her foster mom’s lap. She puts her front paws up and lays her head on her foster mom’s lap and falls asleep with her back feet still standing on the floor. We are calling Bonnie a Lab mix but in reality there is probably no Lab in her DNA. We aren’t sure exactly what she is, but we know she is adorable. Maybe there is some Whippet or Greyhound in her? Bonnie does great with other dogs and would play 8 hours a day. She would love to have a young energetic playmate in her new home. Bonnie likes chewing on her chew toys and chasing a frisbee. She has yet to bring it back but she does play a great game of keep away. Bonnie knows how to sit and lay down and is working on her leash skills. This girl loves to do zoomies and requires a physically fenced yard so she can run and play safely. Bonnie is kennel trained, spayed, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested, and microchipped. If you would like to meet Bonnie, please complete the adoption application on our website: www.furfunrescue.org. If you have questions about Bonnie, you can contact rox@furfunrescue.org or call 319-929-6657. Indoor homes only. Adopters within two hours of Cedar Rapids, IA only, please. Adoption donation $250.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hello, my name is Romeo! I am big boy with a big and adventurous heart! I love to go out to the park and explore the fields and (my all time favorite), play in the water! I truly believe I was born to swim...I would swim all day if I was allowed to! I love to dive under to get rocks from the bottom of the creeks, and I love playing a good ole' game of fetch, too! I will retrieve anything you throw into the water! I am looking for a home with no kids or cats, however, I do get along with other dogs and enjoy their company! I would love a family who is very outdoorsy and adventurous just like me, and who has strong dog handling experience. I am a smart boy and I can't wait to show you everything that I know! Romeo's adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip and current vaccinations plus a 6 week basic obedience course at Cedar Run in Hiawatha, IA. Last Hope requires that all animals be kept as indoor pets only, altered and kept current on vaccinations and preventatives.  Our adoption process includes reference and vet checks, a background check and a home visit.  Please complete an adoption application for consideration at AdoptHope.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 22, 2024, 7:53 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Athena may be considered a senior dog, but don't tell her that - she certainly doesn't feel like a senior and she's only around 8 years old after all! This girl still enjoys playing, giving you a good workout on a leash and being an all around spitfire when the mood strikes her! She is a wonderful dog, with just a little gray in the muzzle : )   Athena has lived very easily with another dog that was around her size, but she would be great as an only pup, too.  She is unfortunately, not a match with cats as they bring out the "chase" in her!  She takes some daily prescription meds for mobility and will need to continue these long term, but a good walk every day is keeping her happy and healthy! Athena is seeking an owner that isn't gone long days, she'll enjoy your company too much to have you away after all!   Athena's adoption fee is $250 and includes her spay, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives plus a free basic obedience course at Cedar Run Company #2 in Hiawatha. Last Hope requires that all animals be kept as indoor pets only, altered and kept current on vaccinations and preventatives. Our adoption process includes a vet history check as well as a home visit.  Please submit an adoption application for consideration through our website, www.Adopthope.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 22, 2024, 7:52 pm
