Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hello, my name is Romeo! I am big boy with a big and adventurous heart! I love to go out to the park and explore the fields and (my all time favorite), play in the water! I truly believe I was born to swim...I would swim all day if I was allowed to! I love to dive under to get rocks from the bottom of the creeks, and I love playing a good ole' game of fetch, too! I will retrieve anything you throw into the water! I am looking for a home with no kids or cats, however, I do get along with other dogs and enjoy their company! I would love a family who is very outdoorsy and adventurous just like me, and who has strong dog handling experience. I am a smart boy and I can't wait to show you everything that I know! Romeo's adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip and current vaccinations plus a 6 week basic obedience course at Cedar Run in Hiawatha, IA. Last Hope requires that all animals be kept as indoor pets only, altered and kept current on vaccinations and preventatives.  Our adoption process includes reference and vet checks, a background check and a home visit.  Please complete an adoption application for consideration at AdoptHope.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 12, 2024, 7:31 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Athena is a young senior, around 9 years old.  She is a very even-keel dog, past her puppy years and enjoying her golden years.  She enjoys a good stroll around the neighborhood once a day, she doesn't pull hard on her leash but she rather enjoys walking at the very end of her leash so as to lead the way! Athena isn't much for toys, she instead is a foodie and loves to eat! But she's no fool, when you try to give her her daily meds she will quickly eat around the pill and just take the tasty stuff if you aren't careful!  Athena does seem to bond more to women, in her foster home she will follow mom around the house and then steal foster dads spot in the bed at night. Athena has happily accepted pets from grandkids and neighbors while on a walk, so could easily live with older kids. Athena has lived with another easy going dog that was around her size, but she would be great as an only dog, too. We don't think that she is a match for a younger, or higher energy dog as she wouldn't appreciate the interruptions to her couch-potato ways. She is unfortunately, not a match with cats as they bring out the "chase" in her!  She takes some daily prescription meds for mobility and will need to continue these long term, but a good walk every day is keeping her happy and healthy! Athena is seeking an owner that isn't gone long days, she'll enjoy your company too much to have you away after all! Athena's adoption fee is $250 and includes her spay, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives plus a free basic obedience course at Cedar Run Company #2 in Hiawatha. Last Hope requires that all animals be kept as indoor pets only, altered and kept current on vaccinations and preventatives. Our adoption process includes a vet history check as well as a home visit.  Please submit an adoption application for consideration through our website, www.Adopthope.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 12, 2024, 7:31 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Lyme + and Anaplasma + Hello my nam e  is Herkie! I am 12 year old yellow lab weighing around 60 pounds. I really like getting pets and attention from my humans and don't forget the walks, I really love walks!  I will thrive in a home by myself since I love getting all the pets or with another dog around my size or smaller that is non dominant and no cats please.  My two other favorite things to do in my foster home are napping and eating as I am very treat motivated. Since I am a foodie I should be fed separately in the home from others to help to avoid any extra stress and anxiety for me. I am currently working on building up trust with my foster family learning that they will come back since I have a fear of abandonment from my past. I am potty trained and am a good boy with a great mixture of being chill and wanting to relax with my humans and still have energy for walks.  I am crate trained but I free roam in the house when my foster family is gone.  My foster mom says I am a handsome boy with a great smile looking for a forever home to call mine.  I might be a senior dog but I have so much love to give and I really want my own family to love for the rest of my life so skip the crazy puppy stage and come see me!   Herkie's adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccinations and monthly preventatives. Herkie is seeking an indoor only home.  Last Hope requires that all animals be kept as indoor pets only, kept current on vaccinations and preventatives and be altered.  Our adoption process includes a vet history check as well as a home visit, please submit an adoption application on our website if you would like to meet Herkie! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Charlie is the bestest boy, and someone is going to be darn lucky when they scoop him up! If you’re looking for a dog that is up for adventure, be that exploring the outdoors together or napping on the couch, he’s your man. If you’re looking for a dog that’s good with every person they meet, including kids, Charlie’s your man. If you’re looking for a dog that will bond quickly and that’s a smart pup who will pick up additional cues/commands with ease, well look no further!  This dog is a total package!  Charlie joined us in rescue and was in need of some TLC. He’d spent some time living in an outdoor kennel, and had a torn ACL in addition to Lyme disease. Charlie has gone through treatment, including surgery on his injured leg, and has come through with flying colors! He took surgery, cage rest and physical therapy like a champ and is now feeling better than ever and ready to get out and explore. Charlie is not a fan of being kenneled or left alone for long stretches, he had enough of that to last a lifetime so for this next chapter he’s looking to be someone’s full-time sidekick. Charlie is not a great match with other dogs or cats.  Charlie’s adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccinations, and monthly preventatives. Charlie is seeking an indoor home only, if you would like to meet him please submit an adoption application through our website, Adopthope.org. Last Hope requires that adopters have a history of having kept their pets as indoor pets only, altered and kept current on vaccinations and preventatives. Our adoption process includes a vet history check and a home visit.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 12, 2024, 7:31 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Miss Billie is a small but mighty little girl looking for her forever home! Billie is just around 6 years old and full of energy. She loves toys and to run around playing in the yard. She is also eager to learn and can be motivated by treats so training comes easily to her. She knows most basic commands but gets super excited easily and you will notice her butt wiggles more than her tail! New things can be a little scary to Billie, she is a little skittish around new, loud noises but will recover quickly with some reassurance from her human buddy. Billie would prefer to live in a home with no young children as they can be quite unpredictable to her and that's frightening. She seems to do well with other dogs and has even gone on buddy walks with some of her friends at the adoption center. She is best paired with dogs that have calm and laid back energy, she doesn't appreciate dogs that invade her space or get in her face without a proper introduction. We have made a short introduction of cats to Billie and we'll be darned if she wasn't a little scared! She  had very reserved body language and really wasn't sure what to think of them! Billie does take daily prescription meds currently, these will need to be continued under the care of a veterinarian. Billie's adoption fee is $250 and includes her spay, microchip, current vaccines, and preventatives. Also included is a free basic obedience training course at Cedar Run in Hiawatha. Last Hope requires all animals be kept as indoor only pets and that adopters have a history of keeping their pets altered and up to date on vaccinations. If you are interested in meeting Billie, please fill out an adoption application for consideration on our website, adopthope.org. The adoption process includes a home ownership check, background check, and vet history check. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 12, 2024, 7:31 pm
