Story
Meet Gus Gus is a handsome 4–5-year-old Pittie/Pyrenees mix weighing about 62 lbs, and he’s ready to find a calm, loving home where he can truly thrive. He was originally adopted as a puppy and has been deeply loved ever since—but with the recent arrival of a new baby, it’s become clear that Gus would be happiest in a quieter environment better suited to his needs.Gus is a sweet, people-oriented boy who loves companionship, snuggles, and being close to his humans. He’s housebroken, leash trained, neutered, and fully up to date on veterinary care. He also loves other dogs and enjoys regular daycare playtime, making him a great candidate for a home with a friendly canine companion.Because Gus can feel anxious—especially when left alone—he would do best with a family that can offer routine, patience, and lots of reassurance. He’s not comfortable around babies or toddlers, so a home with older children (around 7–8+ years) or adults only would be the best fit for his success and happinessGus is truly a wonderful dog with so much love to give. With the right home, he will be an incredibly loyal, affectionate companion who just wants to be part of the familyIf you’re looking for a devoted best friend and can offer Gus the peaceful home he deserves, we’d love to hear from you. ##1416484##

Story
Meet Rudy Rudy is a 3-year-old, 45 lb black Pit mix with a white chest and a big heart for his people. Many of you may remember him as Rambo when he was adopted as a puppy in 2021. Rudy is an incredibly smart, loyal, and affectionate dog. He’s the perfect blend of active and relaxed — he loves being outside and enjoying a yard, but he’s just as happy cuddled up on the couch with his favorite humans. He is crate trained, housebroken, leash trained, e-collar trained, neutered, and up to date on vet care. He has completed professional board-and-train and knows commands such as place, let’s go, leave it, and even has doorbell manners. His family has invested heavily in his training and is committed to sharing everything they’ve learned to help his next home succeed. Rudy thrives with adults and bonds deeply with his family. However, he is very uncomfortable around young children. While there has not been a bite, he will show clear stress signals (hair raised, growling, baring teeth) if children walk near or stand by him. Because of this, his family has carefully managed interactions and feels he would be happiest and safest in a child-free home or one with older, respectful teens. With other dogs, Rudy can be selective. He prefers calm, mellow dogs that don’t interact heavily and tends to do best with more mature canine companions. He has not been tested with cats. Rudy can be a bit insecure at times and benefits from structure and leadership. He may need a few meetings to warm up to some new adults, but once he trusts you, he is deeply loving and devoted. This decision has been heartbreaking for his family, but with four young children in the home, Rudy is simply not thriving in the current environment. They believe strongly that in the right calm household, he will absolutely flourish. Rudy is looking for: An adult-only or older teen home A structured, calm environment Possibly a mellow dog companion (or happy as the only dog) A family committed to continuing his training foundation If you’re looking for a smart, affectionate, loyal companion and can offer Rudy the peaceful home he deserves, he may be your perfect match. ##1060556##

Story
Esperanza | 2 Years | Lab/Pittie Mix  Esperanza has a quiet, tender heart - one that takes a little time to open. When she first arrives at your home, she may hang back, observing the world with gentle eyes. But give her patience and kindness, and you’ll be rewarded with a girl who expresses her joy in the most endearing ways. She has the funniest “twister-like” moves when she gets excited, running in a little circle when given a squeaky toy. It’s guaranteed to make you smile or laugh. Or she’ll express her happiness with her wagging tail.  She has unbounded energy with an absolute love for running, playing and enjoying water, snow, and every smell around her. She is housebroken, learns quickly, and loves to sit for treats after a walk or training session.  She walks easily on a leash, happy just to be by your side. She kennels beautifully and understands routines, showing just how much she wants to do things “right.” Her bed is her sanctuary which she will line with her treasures. She sleeps soundly overnight, waking when the sun comes up.   If you’re looking for a lapdog, she is not that.  She will share her time with you but is also happy to return to her own space.  Esperanza has been kid-tested and truly enjoys the soft, gentle touch of children. She does best with thoughtful, slow introductions to other dogs, but has behaved fine with dogs, cats, and parrots (in cages) while living in her foster home. She will miss you greatly when you walk away and want to follow you everywhere.  She’ll need to learn that separation is temporary for her - not constant as she has experienced so often in the past. So her need to feel part of a safe “pack” can be read on her face when you see her patiently and calmly waiting for her bonded human to return.   More than anything, Esperanza has a personality that quietly shines - a sweet, soulful presence that simply needs someone willing to give her the love she deserves. If you think that could be you, apply at www.buffalounderdogs.com/adopt  ##2667479##
