Story
Meet Howie! Irresistibly cute & full of happy energy, nothing can get Howie down! After surviving a horrible accident, Howie spent weeks slowly healing. Now, he's as good as new and ready for whatever comes next! Howie is a happy boy at heart, and he loves people and other dogs. Howie absolutely loves to play and he adores being surrounded by toys to run around with and to chew. He's also an expert at the game 'fetch'! Howie is so smart and eager to please, but he does need some help with impulse control - life is just so exciting! Because of this, Howie's adopters will have two paid sessions with a trainer post-adoption to help his transition into a new home. We love Howie, and we know you will too! It's hard not to fall in love with this super silly, happy-go-lucky guy! This animal recently arrived at Brother Wolf. Please email info@bwar.org to learn more about how to meet them! As always, you can visit Brother Wolf to meet other dogs & cats during regular open adoption hours without an appointment! We cannot guarantee this particular animal will be at these events. Please reach out directly for more information about how to meet this animal. If you have questions, you can email us at: info@bwar.org — we’re happy to help!

Story
Hi, my name is Ruckus, I was dumped at the Highland Armory/Highland Recreation Center during really bad storms and rain for 4 days. The sweet family who rescued me was told I’m a pitbull/lab mix. I am just over a year old, and they were told my birthday is 04/26/2023! At my previous home, I used to live with three other dogs, but they would beat me up and bully me, so I’m a little timid about new dogs. Though I do love people, big or small, I love them all. I love to give kisses and cuddle up with you every chance I get, I’m not the best in a kennel as I get lonely and have separation anxiety. My rescue family tried introducing me to their dogs, but I’m still scared and growl when I see them, so it’s best I’m the only pet in your home! I have shown that I’m teachable and love to do tricks for treats! I am house trained and have not had an accident at all with my rescue family. I’ve shown my rescue dad that I can sit, give paw, lay down, tug on toys, and even play fetch. (though I’m still figuring out that I need to give it back) I have been to the vet and have had all of my shots, I just need a couple of boosters! I have been tested and do not have any intestinal parasites or heart worms. I have started taking Simparica Trio to keep me from getting heartworm, fleas, ticks, or other intestinal parasites. I’d love to find my foster or furever home. Especially if my rescue family can stay in contact with me! Adoption fee $175 Adoption Application: mercyrescue.org

Story
Meet HeidiApprox. 3 years old | Lab Mix | Searching for Safety and LoveHeidi’s story is one that breaks your heart before it mends it. She was dumped on a rural back road like trash alongside seven other family members of varying ages. No warmth, no explanation, no familiar face — just confusion and fear. It is clear these dogs were neglected, used, and forgotten by the very people who should have cared for them. But that is where their story begins to change. When Heidi first arrived, she was unsure of every move, every sound, every hand reaching in her direction. The world had only shown her cruelty. But with time, patience, and gentle handling, she has learned that people don’t always hurt you. Now, she has grown deeply attached to the kennel techs who work with her each day — and the feeling is mutual. Her and her family have become fast staff favorites. It’s impossible not to fall in love with souls like theirs… dogs who have been given nothing but would give everything for a safe hand and a quiet home.Heidi is learning that:• Leashes mean adventure, not fear.• Food will come every single day.• Warmth is promised.• Love is real. She is gentle, soft-hearted, and incredibly deserving. Once she trusts you, her love is the kind that sinks in deep and stays forever.Heidi is now available for adoption, and we are dedicated to finding her a family who will never let her feel discarded or unseen again. She will make someone a phenomenal companion — loyal, grateful, and devoted in a way only a once-broken heart can be.Puppies 6 months and under are typically $200 and dogs from 7 months to 6 years are typically $100.00. The adoption fee may be higher or lower than stated however, and is dependent on many factors including age, behavior, medical condition and demand. All dogs 7 years and older are free under our Saving Seniors program. We frequently run discount specials and occasionally a dog will be more than the stated fee. Most cats and kittens are $35.00, however there may be instances in which the fee is higher or lower, due to age, behavior, medical condition or demand. With felines, we always have an "Adopt one, bring another one home for free" adoption special!

Story
Sally Sage is a sweet and gentle soul.  She was born on 7/5/22 and weighs about 45 pounds.  She is nearsighted, so things like stairs and new people/environments can be a little overwhelming for her.  She is also hearing-impaired, but not completely deaf. Sally seems to enjoy the company of other dogs, but can be a little awkward in her play style.  She is house-trained and walks well on a leash.  She would love a calm home, preferably without stairs.  Young kids would likely be too overwhelming for her, so older kids or no kids is ideal. Sally Sage is spayed, microchippped, up to date on vaccinations, dewormed, and on monthly flea/heartworm prevention.  Her adoption fee is $300 and you can apply to adopt at mpravl.org All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets@mpravl.org for more information. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. Mountain Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity (EIN 82-3039637) located in Asheville, NC. January 22, 2026, 1:00 am

She’s loyal, gentle and full of energy — the perfect companion for an active family who enjoys walks, runs (she loves to tag along mile after mile) or playtime in the yard.Piper absolutely loves her people and would do wonderfully in a home with kids or another friendly dog to play with. She’s great with other dogs, though she can be a little shy at first when meeting new friends. Don’t worry — she warms up quickly and has never shown a bit of aggression. She’s just a sweet, submissive soul who wants to be loved. She’s 100% house-trained, knows her basic commands (“sit,” “stay”, “down”) and currently uses a dog door. She’s just as happy snoozing at the foot of your bed as she is curling up right beside you for cuddles. Her current family loves her deeply but must find her a new home due to a move and a situation with another dog. Piper has no behavioral issues — she’s just an amazing, well-mannered, affectionate dog who deserves a happy new beginning.  She does, however, get nervous around fireworks and loud noises and can bark when excited. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving and playful family member, Piper is ready to fill your home with joy, laughter and unconditional love.Call or text  864-437-6186 today to learn more about lovable Piper!
