Story
Meet Feller — a shy guy with a heart of gold! Feller may take a little time to warm up, but once he knows you, he is an absolute sweetheart. He came from a home where he was kept outdoors and never left the property, so the big wide world is still pretty new to him. Because of that, Feller is continuing to build his confidence and social skills with both people and other dogs—and he’s already making wonderful progress! Feller would do best in a quiet, low-traffic home environment where he can feel safe, decompress, and build trust at his own pace. So far, he has done well with calm, respectful dogs who give him space and don’t play too rough. With people, he appreciates patience and kindness, and it’s been amazing to see how much he’s opened up in just a few short days. When he trusts you, his gentle and loving personality truly shines. Feller is crate trained, vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered. He’s looking for a loving home that will give him the time, understanding, and calm environment he needs to keep blossoming into the confident companion we know he can be. Want to meet Feller and fall in love with his sweet self? Submit a no-obligation adoption application at www.AlmostHomeDogRescueNC.com, and one of our adoption coaches will reach out to tell you all about him! If brains, heart, and potential were awards, Bubba would be taking home trophies already! This handsome Lab Mix is super smart—and we mean genius-level impressive. Within just two days, Bubba mastered sit, down, watch, place, and wait. Yep… two days. Bubba is crate trained, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered, so he’s already got the responsible-adult stuff covered. He came from a hoarding property where he lived outdoors, and because of that, he’s still learning the finer points of dog-to-dog play. So far, he’s done great with medium to large dogs, especially those who are calm and respectful. What Bubba needs now is simple: patience, kindness, and quality time. Give him that, and you’ll be rewarded with an incredibly loyal, eager-to-learn companion who is going to make an amazing dog for the right family. He’s the kind of pup who just wants to belong—and once he does, he’ll shine. Ready to meet Bubba and fall in love? Submit your no-obligation adoption application at: www.AlmostHomeDogRescueNC.com. One of our adoption coaches will reach out to tell you even more about how awesome Bubba truly is! Follow us on Facebook @AlmostHomeDogRescueNC for updates on Bubba and other adoptable pups. Story
Meet Dixie — the bravest softie you’ll ever root for. Dixie is a 1-year-old, 35 lb Lab Mix with the gentlest eyes and the kind of story that sticks with you. Her first year of life was spent in a hoarding situation, kept outdoors and away from all the comforts of home. No walks, no visitors, no normal puppy experiences. Just the same property with little human interaction, day after day. Because of that, Dixie came into rescue with understandable fears and a lot of unanswered questions about humans and life beyond what she knew. And yet… look at her now. Since being rescued, Dixie has been quietly and courageously learning what it means to be safe. She’s discovered toys (turns out they’re pretty amazing), shown sweet interest in playing with other dogs, and (most importantly) learned that human affection can be real, gentle, and trustworthy. Watching her confidence grow is nothing short of magical. Dixie thrives with another calm, social dog who can show her the ropes and reassure her that the world isn’t such a scary place. She takes cues beautifully and finds comfort in having a steady canine friend by her side. A calm, quiet home and neighborhood and securely fenced yard is a must for Dixie — it allows her to go potty peacefully and continue building trust at her own pace without fear. She’s crate trained (picked it up almost instantly, smart girl!), up to date on vaccinations, and truly trying her absolute best every single day. Dixie isn’t a “hit the ground running” dog — she’s a “watch me bloom” dog. The kind that will make you proud over milestones others might overlook. The kind that will form a deep, unshakeable bond with the person who gives her patience, kindness, and time. If you’re someone with patience, a gentle heart, and the desire to be part of a life-changing journey, Dixie might just be your girl. Are you ready to continue Dixie’s journey? Submit a no-obligation adoption application at www.AlmostHomeDogRescueNC.com, and an adoption coach will reach out to share even more of Dixie’s incredible progress. Follow us on Facebook @AlmostHomeDogRescueNC for updates on Dixie and other adoptable pups — but fair warning: once you see her, it’s really hard not to fall in love.

Story
Meet Topper, a true big marshmallow with a heart of gold. At just 11 months old and weighing about 65 lbs, Topper is a sweet, gentle soul who is already dreaming of his forever home. He is incredibly loving, very smart, and when he looks at you with those soulful eyes, it's impossible not to melt. Topper is dog, cat, and kid friendly, making him a wonderful fit for many different types of homes. He is also house trained and vaccinated, so he is well on his way to being the perfect family companion. Topper loves being by your side and is happiest when he can snuggle up close and soak in all the affection he missed early in life. Before coming into rescue, Topper lived outdoors and was hit by a car. Despite everything he has been through, his spirit remains sweet and trusting. He is now receiving the very best care in a loving foster home and will be undergoing surgery to help repair his hip. Topper will be available for adoption in a few months once he has fully recovered, but this special boy is absolutely worth the wait. Applications for Topper are now open, and we expect this sweet boy to find his forever home quickly—so don’t wait! Be among the first to submit your application. If you’re ready to open your heart and home to Topper, start by getting pre-approved to adopt. Visit www.AlmostHomeDogRescueNC.com to apply, and one of our wonderful adoption coaches will be in touch soon to share even more about this incredible boy. Story
Sally Sage is a sweet and gentle soul.  She was born on 7/5/22 and weighs about 45 pounds.  She is nearsighted, so things like stairs and new people/environments can be a little overwhelming for her.  She is also hearing-impaired, but not completely deaf. Sally seems to enjoy the company of other dogs, but can be a little awkward in her play style.  She is house-trained and walks well on a leash.  She would love a calm home, preferably without stairs.  Young kids would likely be too overwhelming for her, so older kids or no kids is ideal. Sally Sage is spayed, microchippped, up to date on vaccinations, dewormed, and on monthly flea/heartworm prevention.  Her adoption fee is $300 and you can apply to adopt at mpravl.org All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets@mpravl.org for more information. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. Mountain Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity (EIN 82-3039637) located in Asheville, NC. January 22, 2026, 1:00 am

She’s loyal, gentle and full of energy — the perfect companion for an active family who enjoys walks, runs (she loves to tag along mile after mile) or playtime in the yard.Piper absolutely loves her people and would do wonderfully in a home with kids or another friendly dog to play with. She’s great with other dogs, though she can be a little shy at first when meeting new friends. Don’t worry — she warms up quickly and has never shown a bit of aggression. She’s just a sweet, submissive soul who wants to be loved. She’s 100% house-trained, knows her basic commands (“sit,” “stay”, “down”) and currently uses a dog door. She’s just as happy snoozing at the foot of your bed as she is curling up right beside you for cuddles. Her current family loves her deeply but must find her a new home due to a move and a situation with another dog. Piper has no behavioral issues — she’s just an amazing, well-mannered, affectionate dog who deserves a happy new beginning.  She does, however, get nervous around fireworks and loud noises and can bark when excited. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving and playful family member, Piper is ready to fill your home with joy, laughter and unconditional love.Call or text  864-437-6186 today to learn more about lovable Piper!
