Story
Pegasee is now 13 weeks and of a litter of 10 wonderfully bred, Labs. Her line is known for calm but funLOVING temperament & highly trainable. This beauty was born breech and in process a rear leg was twisted. This cut off circulation to lower limb and similarly to frost bite, she lost her foot as it went black. Surgeons at South Asheville Vet Emergency Services ( SAVES) determined amputation of entire leg was not necessary. She does stairs, is house/ crate trained and uses a doggy door and has all veterinary vaccines, health checks up to date. I am moving after this school year and can’t have 3 dogs. I own the sire and dam. She needs a loving home. I am located in Horse Shoe NC. I am currently training basic obedience with 2 litter mates but they are getting too tough in play for her, although she hangs in there but is much smaller than they are. She will make a lovely tripod pet, especially for a home with a disabled child. Please help find the perfect placement for my “Sweets"

Story
Meet O’Darby!🎾🐾 O’Darby is a one-of-a-kind boy who truly stands out from the rest. He enjoys playing fetch and is (sorta) good at it—practice makes perfect! This smart, high energy guy loves staying active and would thrive with someone who can keep both his mind and body busy. O’Darby does seem to have a strong prey drive and prefers calm, respectful dogs. He does not do well with high energy or pushy greetings, so we believe he would be happiest as the only dog in the home, where he can soak up all the attention. He’s looking for a dedicated person who can focus their time and energy on him and help him be the best companion he can be. If you’re searching for an intelligent, active, and loyal buddy, O’Darby might be the perfect match for you. Come meet him, you just might fall in love!

Story
Meet Feller — a shy guy with a heart of gold! Feller may take a little time to warm up, but once he knows you, he is an absolute sweetheart. He came from a home where he was kept outdoors and never left the property, so the big wide world is still pretty new to him. Because of that, Feller is continuing to build his confidence and social skills with both people and other dogs—and he’s already making wonderful progress! Feller would do best in a quiet, low-traffic home environment where he can feel safe, decompress, and build trust at his own pace. So far, he has done well with calm, respectful dogs who give him space and don’t play too rough. With people, he appreciates patience and kindness, and it’s been amazing to see how much he’s opened up in just a few short days. When he trusts you, his gentle and loving personality truly shines. This sweet boy thrives with another calm, social dog who can show him the ropes and reassure him that the world isn’t such a scary place. He takes cues beautifully and finds comfort in having a steady canine friend by his side. Feller is crate trained, vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered. He’s looking for a loving home that will give him the time, understanding, and calm environment he needs to keep blossoming into the confident companion we know he can be. Want to meet Feller and fall in love with his sweet self? Submit a no-obligation adoption application at www.AlmostHomeDogRescueNC.com, and one of our adoption coaches will reach out to tell you all about him! Story
If brains, heart, and potential were awards, Bubba would be taking home trophies already! This handsome Lab Mix is super smart—and we mean genius-level impressive. Within just two days, Bubba mastered sit, down, watch, place, and wait. Yep… two days. Bubba is crate trained, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered, so he’s already got the responsible-adult stuff covered. He came from a hoarding property where he lived outdoors, and because of that, he’s still learning the finer points of dog-to-dog play. So far, he’s done great with medium to large dogs, especially those who are calm and respectful. What Bubba needs now is simple: patience, kindness, and quality time. Give him that, and you’ll be rewarded with an incredibly loyal, eager-to-learn companion who is going to make an amazing dog for the right family. He’s the kind of pup who just wants to belong—and once he does, he’ll shine. Bubba thrives with another calm, social dog who can show him the ropes and reassure him that the world isn’t such a scary place. He takes cues beautifully and finds comfort in having a steady canine friend by his side. Ready to meet Bubba and fall in love? Submit your no-obligation adoption application at: www.AlmostHomeDogRescueNC.com. One of our adoption coaches will reach out to tell you even more about how awesome Bubba truly is! Follow us on Facebook @AlmostHomeDogRescueNC for updates on Bubba and other adoptable pups. Bubba's future is bright—could it be with you?

Story
DIXIE IS A SPECIAL GIRL WITH SPECIFIC NEEDS IN HER NEW HOME. PLEASE READ HER COMPLETE BIO. We want to ensure the very best match for you and for Dixie’s continued growth and success. Let’s see if you cut this sweet girls’ mustard! Dixie is a 1-year-old, 35 lb Lab Mix with the gentlest eyes and the kind of story that sticks with you. Her first year of life was spent in a hoarding situation, kept outdoors and away from all the comforts of home. No walks, no visitors, no normal puppy experiences. Just the same property with little human interaction, day after day. Because of that, Dixie came into rescue with understandable fears and a lot of unanswered questions about humans and life beyond what she knew. And yet… look at her now. Since being rescued, Dixie has been quietly and courageously learning what it means to be safe and joyful. She’s discovered toys (turns out they’re pretty amazing!), learned that treats are, in fact, the greatest invention of all time, and has really started to let her playful personality shine. Watching her confidence grow more each day has been nothing short of magical. She is also now walking phenomenally on a leash — no pulling, just gently by your side. While she can still be a little scared in new situations, she looks to her person for comfort and reassurance, as if asking, “Is this okay?” And when you tell her it is, she believes you. That trust she’s building is incredibly special. Dixie thrives with another calm, social dog who can show her the ropes and reassure her that the world isn’t such a scary place. She takes cues beautifully and finds comfort in having a steady canine friend by her side. Because she has been with her canine family members her entire life, At this time Dixie must be adopted into a home that is willing and able to welcome both she and one of her cousins together (Bubba or Feller, both Lab mixes). Their bond is incredibly important to her continued confidence and emotional well-being, and staying together will allow her to keep thriving and feeling secure as she transitions into her forever home. A calm, quiet home in a rural environment with a securely fenced yard is a must for Dixie — it allows her to play, take care of business and continue building trust at her own pace without fear. She is cat-friendly, kid-friendly, and does wonderfully with other dogs. She’s crate trained (picked it up almost instantly — smart girl!), up to date on vaccinations, and truly blossoming every single day. Dixie isn’t a “hit the ground running” dog — she’s a “watch me bloom” dog. The kind that will make you proud over milestones others might overlook. The kind that will form a deep, unshakeable bond with the person who gives her patience, kindness, and time. If you’re someone with patience, a gentle heart, a calm home environment, and the ability to open your heart and home to both Dixie and her cousin — and you’re ready to meet her needs — Dixie might just be your girl. Are you ready to join Dixie on her journey? Submit a no-obligation adoption application at www.AlmostHomeDogRescueNC.com, and an adoption coach will reach out to share even more of Dixie’s incredible progress. Follow us on Facebook @AlmostHomeDogRescueNC for updates on Dixie and other adoptable pups — but fair warning: once you see her, it’s really hard not to fall in love.
