Story
Cuda is a Lab/Boxer/Pitbull/Chow mix.  We believe he is about 2 yrs old. He is leery of strangers but warms up if given the opportunity. When he arrived he was fearful to walk on leash and we have helped him get over that fear....he will walk fine for our volunteers now.  He is a work in progress and may not show well in his kennel due to the excessive # of dogs we currently have and the noise they create in the kennel.  Please ask to visit with him outside of his kennel if you have interest.   Morrow County Dog Shelter, Mt. Story
Midas is a 2 yr old Black Labrador/Hound mix.  He is around 90 lbs and will require a handler that has large breed experience.  He is good on leash BUT very strong.  Midas is currently enrolled in our prison training program and will remain at the prison until we find an approved adopter.  Midas can be dog selective although he does get along with most dogs.  He WILL need to meet all new housemates before adoption will considered and approved. His handler states: As long as his lab mind is in place he typically heals properly on lead and focuses on his handler....however if his hound mind takes over he is vocal, playful, not always good on lead and very exuberant. Anyone that has interest in Midas MUST contact the shelter directly to schedule an appointment to meet him and to complete an application. Morrow County Dog Shelter, Mt. Story
Name: Marty Gender: Male Age: About 1 yr Current Weight: 75lbs Expected Adult Size: Large (50-100 lbs) Breed: Labrador/Pyrenees (60%) per DNA test Energy Level: Medium-High Dog Friendly: Yes, and can have other dogs in the home or can be an only dog Cat Friendly: Unknown Kid Friendly: Yes to kids 12 years old or older Apartment Friendly: No Physical Fence Requirement: Physical fence required, 5'-6' height required Crate Trained: Yes for short periods of time Potty Trained: Yes Ideal Home/Adopter: Marty is a working breed and needs good amount of exercise. He is growing and learning still. Marty is a little abrasive/dominant at first when he greets new dogs. If corrected immediately, he backs down and usually wants to play. He acts like he's the "new, tough dude on the block", but literally just wants a "sparing" buddy to play with. He's usually good in a crate for 4hrs or less, as long as he's had exercise. Marty isn't a quiet or lazy dog, but a young boy wanting to have lots of fun. Likes: Marty loves to be outside. He loves hard chew toys and wrestling. He's a little stubborn, but he's also young and quite determined. Dislikes: Marty isn't fond of being alone for long periods of time. He would love a friend that he can wrestle with. What makes this dog special:  Marry is a very good alert dog and will inform you every time Amazon, the mailman or your in-laws have arrived. He enjoys the outdoors, going for walks, hikes and being a good boy. Marty's adoption fee is $350. All fees include spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, worming, flea and heartworm current. All dogs over 6 months of age have been tested and are heartworm negative. If you are interested in adopting Marty, apply at rescuedohio.org to become an approved adopter and a meet & greet can be set up once approved. ##1730869##

Labrador Retriever Beagle

Male, 10 mos
New Albany, OH
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Good with kids, Good with dogs, Good with cats, Needs special attention, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Name: Bosco Gender: Male Age: 11 months Current Weight: 45lbs Expected Adult Size: Medium (25-50 lbs) Breed: DNA results - Boxer (21%), Labrador Retriever (19%), Cattle Dog (17%), Pit Bull (17%), Beagle (15%) Energy Level: Low - Medium Dog Friendly: Yes, and can have other dogs in the home or can be an only dog. Cat Friendly: Yes Kid Friendly: Yes, 5 years and over Apartment Friendly: No Physical Fence Requirement: Physical fence required Crate Trained: Yes Potty Trained: Yes Ideal Home/Adopter: Bosco would do best in a home with a fenced yard.  He's not extremely active and is content to sunbathe in the backyard or entertain himself with toys.  He currently goes for one short walk a day as part of his PT and enjoys that, but doesn't need long daily walks.  He does not need another dog in the home, but if there was a dog, it would be best to have a younger, social dog. Likes: Car rides, any kind of toy, warm sunny days, people, other dogs, snuggling up with his people on the couch or where ever they are sitting Dislikes: When his foster siblings don't want to play with him, people who walk by and don't say hi, baths Additional Considerations: Bosco had surgery to repair a dislocated elbow in early March after he was found on the side of the road.  He has made a great recovery since surgery and is starting to resume normal activity.  Bosco goes for daily walks to help build up strength in his leg and also attends rehab twice a week.  He is scheduled through the end of May and an adopter would need to be able to take him to those appointments (the cost is covered by the rescue).  The vet doesn't expect any significant long term damage due to his injury. What makes this dog special: Bosco came to the rescue and it was discovered he had two broken front legs.  He was pretty pathetic, but with the help of the wonderful surgeons at OSU and his foster family, he's on his way to making a great recovery.  Despite what he's been through, Bosco loves every single person he meets and doesn't know a stranger.  Bosco is house trained and crate trained and fits into his foster home very well.  We suspect he was owned at some point, but his owners never came looking for him.  Bosco adores the other dogs in his foster home, but he can be picky about which dogs he likes in public (we can all relate, huh?).  He could live in a home with another dog or be an only dog.  Bosco is used to his foster mom working from home and while he is fantastic in his crate for long periods of time, we aren't sure how he'll do if he were left alone for an entire workday. Bosco's adoption fee is $350. All fees include spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, worming, flea and heartworm current. All dogs over 6 months of age have been tested and are heartworm negative. If you are interested in Bosco, apply at rescuedohio.org to become an approved adopter and a meet & greet can be set up once approved. ##1983777##
