Story
HeroMaleAge: 3 yearsWeight: 65 lbsBreed: Bulldog/Lab MixTrial Adoption Eligible Hey, I’m Hero — but around my foster home, I also answer to Sweet Boy, Short King, Hot Dog, and Piggie. I wear them all with pride. I’m about three years old, recently cleared of heartworm (yay me!), and finally learning how to just be a dog. It’s been a journey, but I’m figuring it out — slowly learning to trust new humans, understand other dogs, and navigate this whole “socializing” thing with my ears up and tail wagging. I am house trained and crate trained and walk well on leash. I’m a chill dude. Like, shockingly chill. I don’t get into things I shouldn’t, I get along with and respect the cats (truly, I lounge with them), and I really just want to be part of your world — preferably while holding your hand, licking peanut butter off a spoon, or sharing your morning snuggles. I’ve got a growing list of commands under my belt: sit, come, down, leave it, let’s go, and place — and I thrive on positive reinforcement (plus maybe a blueberry or two). I feel safest with gentle structure, clear boundaries, and humans who see how smart I am and keep my brain busy with puzzles, walks, training, and games. Some of my favorite things? Baseball (watching, not playing), yoga (yes, really), fenced-in backyards, long walks in any weather, lounging with my feline friends, and just being near my people. I’m not just a good boy — I’m the good boy. The kind of companion who will quietly love you with his whole heart, make you laugh every day with his dumb little underbite, and show you what it means to be truly grateful to be safe, seen, and loved. If you're looking for a ride-or-die for the next decade or so, I’m your guy. Just be warned — one look into my eyes mid-blueberry snack and you’ll never be the same. Apply to adopt Hero at www.causeforcanines.org. To help me find the perfect match, I’m eligible for Cause for Canines’ Trial Adoption Program! This gives approved adopters a chance to get to know me in their home before making things official. You must be an approved adopter to participate. Adoption fee: $350. Must be an Ohio resident & 23 or older. Children must be 5+ ##2188352##

Story
Bucky has a few years on him, but will make a wonderful companion for the right person. He can sit, stay, down on command (especially for Pupperoni). His owner is no longer able to care for herself or her pets. He is not terribly active and happy to lounge on the sofa! He's a friend who just wants to be with you :) He appears to have a grass allergy, and is on Apoquil for this, which is a prescription medication, but he might do well on zyrtec, which he hasn't tried. He has had excellent veterinary care his entire life, and his teeth are in great shape. Over the years he has tried some bad behaviors, which were not corrected, and has had maybe four or five incidents of food and leash aggression (hey, nobody's perfect!), so he needs to go to an experienced owner who will make him sit and stay before meals. He has not been around children. He will be a great companion for someone who is willing to give him a chance, and spend a little time bringing out his princely side!

Story
Looking for loving home! I found him a little over a month ago on the side of the road with no collar. I posted him on multiple platforms and nobody has claimed him and he was not microchipped. I have taken him to the vet and got him up-to-date on all of his shots and had him neutered . We have named him Poncho. The vet thinks that he is about three years old and that he is possibly a Shepherd lab mix. He is smart and very loving and cuddly, and just wants to be around people. He is housebroken and he knows sit and he loves to play fetch and play with toys. We always put him through a bored and train program where he did very well and learned a lot

Story
We rescued her from an animal shelter in southern Ohio. She was not what we were expecting. Much larger than the description and a different breed than we were expecting. She is sweet to humans but has some fear of certain males (barks until they pet her). I don’t think that she had other dogs around her as she is shy and has shown some aggression to our older dog. They do not get along and need to be separated from each other for safety. I think she would do best as an only dog. Don’t want her back in a shelter so looking for her perfect loving forever home.

Marcie or Purdy is a super lovey velcro dog. She’s is a sweet heart and VERY high energy. Marcie loves other dogs and playing at the park. She knows sit, stay, come, lay down, and is extremely intelligent. Shes not terrible with cats but she will try to play with them without realizing how big she is. She good with humans aswell. I have to work over 40 hours a week now so I do not have enough time to give her and she deserves more. I have all her toys, harness, outside leash etc. Marcie needs someone who can give her daily exercise and park time as much as possible or at least another dog for her.

Story
Cocoa is an adorable ball of energy. We adopted her from the Franklin County Shelter about a month ago, but we have found we cannot handle her along with our previous dog because of busy work/school schedules (she needs lots of exercise). We do not know her age or breed for sure, but the shelter estimated her to be from 2-5 years old. She is the most lovable sweet girl- wants to be all over you any chance she gets, easily shows affection, loves to cuddle, etc. She seems to be getting the hang of house training, but she is still having accidents if not monitored and let out often. She has lots of energy, and loves to go for runs/walks and play with chew toys. That being said, she can be quite a snuggly couch potato too. She gets along really well with our German Shepherd and loves to play with him; he never used to run and play outside so much before we got her. We are looking for a loving and dedicated home for our sweet girl, we will miss her! Also, Cocoa can jump veryyy high!

Story
Meet Stella! Gender: Female Current Age: Approximately 3.5 years Current Weight: 51 lbs. Breed: Lab mix Energy Level: Medium-High Dog Friendly: No. Stella prefers to keep all the love, treats, and attention to herself. She is working hard in training and can walk on leash with a head collar, especially when other dogs are around, but she would still prefer they stay on their side of the street, thank you very much. Cat Friendly: No. Stella believes cats are mysterious tiny wizards and would like none of that energy in her home. Kids: Sella prefers a child-free home Apartment Friendly: No Fence Requirements: A tall fenced-in yard is preferred. Even then, this girl still needs her daily exercise.  Crate Trained: Yes, but not a fan. Prefers being on the couch. Potty Trained: Yes Ideal Home:  Stella is looking for a single person or couple with no kids and no other animals. Think “only child” energy but in dog form. She thrives on attention, structure, consistent expectations, and owners who speak fluent positive-reinforcement training. She needs someone who will continue working with her on leash reactivity and set her up for long-term success. She loves LONG walks and wants a good strech of the legs every day.  Between walks, she’s a champion couch lounger. Closing the blinds keeps her from taking on her self-assigned security detail of barking at every leaf, car, or person within viewing distance. Stella’s perfect match is someone who understands animal anxiety, appreciates routine, and can give her the calm, predictable life she deserves. Likes: Being the center of attention, peaceful suburbs and the wide open countryside, long walks and hikes, power naps on any couch or loveseat, cozy blankets, squeaky tennis balls, belly rubs, face kisses, staying close to her person, and chewing on Himalayan treats. Dislikes: Sudden noises, other dogs , sudden changes in her environment, & urban areas with high traffic. Stella and her brother came to Rescued Ohio as young stray pups. She has grown into one incredibly resilient girl with so much love ready to give. She even taught herself how to lift her paws and untangle her leash like a canine genius. Stella wants nothing more than to devote herself to her person. She blooms a little more every day. First you fall for her sweetness, then she surprises you with her silly, goofy charm.  All fees include spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, worming, flea and heartworm current. All dogs over 6 months of age have been tested and are heartworm negative. If you are interested in adopting Stella, apply at rescuedohio.org to become an approved adopter and a meet & greet can be set up once approved. ##1618195##

Meet Serena! Gender: Female Age: 3 years Current Weight: 50lbs Expected Adult Size: Medium (25-50 lbs) Breed: Lab mix Energy Level: Medium Dog Friendly: Serena lives with another dog and they get along swimmingly, however slow intros are required. Not your thing? No worries!  Serena is happy to be the solo pup.  Cat Friendly: No Kid Friendly: Yes to kids 8 years old or older Apartment Friendly: No Physical Fence Requirement: Fence with visual privacy, any height Crate Trained: Yes Potty Trained: Yes Ideal Home/Adopter: Are you looking for a snuggle bug? Someone who will stay in and lay around with you all day and relax? Then you've found the right girl for you! Serena is an absolute angel inside the home, she would love more than anything to get to spend the whole day with you by your side. But need to work outside the home? No problem! Our girl is happy to patiently wait at home inside or outside the crate for you and will excitedly great you when you get home. Serena would also benefit from a home with a playful friend and mentor, as she loves to play with another dog if she can. She's excited to make new friends (sometimes a little too excited) and may not always know how to express it yet, but we've found that once she makes a friend, she becomes best buddies with them quick! Likes: Serena loves to play fetch. Much like her namesake (the OG Serena), she supports women's sports, whether she is playing them or watching them with you on the couch. She is just happy to have you as her teammate. But if you're more into relaxing and chilling, she's more than happy to do that too! She loves a cozy spot on the bed or couch where she can snuggle right up to you and if you give her an extra belly rub or two, she will just melt into you. Dislikes: Cats - like why are they around if they don't want to run and play with her? Serena can also get a little too excited on walks when she meets a fellow furry friend. She's not always sure how to express herself and would need a family whose willing to work with her to teach her the right way to behave on walks. Serena is a quick learner, treat-motivated, and loves to show off her skills, so as long as you're patient with her, you'll be rewarded tenfold. She also loves meeting new people once she's comfortable with them, but can be a little anxious at first (aren't we all?!), she's on medication to help with that though. Serena is such a loving and funny girl. From awkward sleeping positions to her array of hilarious vocals, this delightful girl knows how to communicate love and joy. She just a dog who wants to be loved endlessly, feel cared for and supported and when given the chance, will show you the depths of her love. Serena's smile will light up your world, if you just give her the chance to do so! Serena's adoption fee is $350. All fees include spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, worming, flea and heartworm current. All dogs over 6 months of age have been tested and are heartworm negative. If you are interested in adopting Serena, apply at rescuedohio.org to become an approved adopter and a meet & greet can be set up once approved.   Thanks to Emma Mortellaro, (614) Media Group, for providing some of the photos.  ##1720305##

Story
Bruno is a great dog , always looking for friends. He gets really excited over other dogs and squirrels! He is missing some teeth after having to have them removed so he needs his food softened. He was starved in a past life so he is a little food possessive but can be bribed with a treat. All he wants is love from his human and sometimes a friend to play with . He’s great with other dogs. He would do best in a home with older kids or just someone looking for a walking partner twice a day. He is a goof. But a great friend. I hate that I have to rehome him but I want to make sure he’s going to the right place for him. He does need his kibble soaked for a few minutes but he’s pretty easy !
