Story
Meet Goldie, a delightful foster dog ready to bring endless joy to her forever home. This sweet pup is a shining example of companionship, with a heart full of love and affection for her family. Goldie is crate and potty trained, making her a breeze to care for. She thrives on human interaction and adores snuggling up with her loved ones. Goldie's obedience skills are top-notch, with excellent recall and a repertoire of commands under her belt. She has a gentle nature, proven by her peaceful coexistence with cats in her previous home. Even around children aged 9-11, Goldie's affection shines through, though she may be too exuberant for toddlers. While she's a fantastic playmate, Goldie prefers to be the only dog in the household, as she can become territorial over her space. However, she's always up for a game of fetch and is highly motivated by treats, making training sessions a joy. Goldie loves car rides and would do excellent on a trip. Given her unknown past, Goldie thrives in a quiet home with a stable routine, where she can continue to blossom into the loyal companion she's destined to be. If you're looking for a devoted snuggle buddy who's as playful as she is loving, Goldie is the perfect match for you.

Story
Kriss Kross is a remarkable lab rescue mix who found his way to Friends of Dogs in July 2023. When he was found as a stray, he was in dire need of care. He had a thin scar around his neck from being tied up, a sore back ankle, and infected ears. Additionally, his eyes are slightly crossed, possibly due to past trauma. Friends of Dogs rescued Kriss Kross not out of pity, but because of his sweet and happy disposition. He has a kind heart, and it was clear to the rescuers that he deserved a chance at a good life. His foster mom took Kriss Kross to the vet for a thorough assessment. He is approximately three years old, weighs 43 pounds, and is heartworm negative. The vet suspects that Kriss Kross may have experienced head trauma, affecting his brain and causing his eyes to cross. His sore ankle is likely the result of a previous injury, which may have caused it to grow incorrectly. Despite this, he doesn't appear to be in pain and has a distinctive, endearing hop when he walks. Kriss Kross has been thriving in a safe and nurturing environment, something he has never experienced before. He has been neutered and is now ready for the next step in his journey. Kriss Kross needs a special home where he can continue to receive the love and care he deserves. Kriss Kross's greatest joy is to be with people. He longs for human connection and eagerly soaks up pets and cuddles. While he is friendly and polite with other dogs, he always prefers to be close to his people. Due to his past trauma, he can be a little anxious and needy, but he has so much love to offer in return. Story
Peanut is available for adoption in Texas only. Meet Peanut, a sweet 1-year-old lab mix weighing in at 45 pounds. Affectionately nicknamed Peanut Butter, this gentle girl may be shy at first, but with a little patience and time, she blossoms into a silly, playful companion who will melt your heart. Peanut is a pro at being house-trained and crate-trained. In fact, she adores her crate and considers it her safe haven. When we leave the house, she happily retreats to her crate and even prefers to spend her time there when we are home, with the door open for her to come and go as she pleases. Though we don't have young children in our home, we believe Peanut would do well with kids, though she might be a bit timid around them initially. Our teenagers get along great with her, and she has shown herself to be wonderful with other dogs, both big and small. We don't have any cats, so we're not sure how she would do with feline friends. Peanut's ideal home would be a calm, low-energy environment with a patient person or family who understands that she needs time to adjust. Once she feels comfortable, she reveals her true character-a playful, laid-back dog who loves to gather and keep soft, squishy toys in her crate. These toys seem to provide her with a sense of comfort and security, likely because she had to fend for herself on the streets before finding her way to us. Though Peanut doesn't bark much and prefers napping, she occasionally surprises us with a burst of energy and adorable zoomies, which never fail to bring a smile to our faces. She also does well on a leash and enjoys leisurely walks. If you are looking for a loyal companion who is low-maintenance and enjoys a peaceful environment, Peanut is the perfect match. Her gentle spirit and loving nature make her the sweetest dog you'll ever meet. Come meet Peanut and see how she can bring joy and tranquility to your home! Story
Our handsome Duke is on the lookout for a forever family! This sweet boy is a lab/Hound mix, embodying all the wonderful qualities that labs are known for - he adores water, loves people big and small, and loves nothing more than a good play session! Duke is a playful and affectionate companion who thrives on having a friend to romp around with. Whether it's splashing in puddles, chasing after a ball, or enjoying a game of tug-of-war, Duke is always up for an adventure! It's important to note that Duke does have some resource guarding tendencies with dogs when it comes to food and toys. With patience, understanding, and proper training, Duke can learn to overcome these behaviors and become the loyal and loving companion he's meant to be. He is easily trainable as he has made great strides in not counter surfing! His perfect home would have a nice backyard & people at home most of the time. He loves his family & likes to have company! If you're ready to open your heart and home to Duke and provide him with the love, care, and guidance he needs, he's eager to join your family. Come meet this lovable pup today and discover the joy of having Duke by your side!

Story
Meet Grover! Grover is a 6 month old Lab mix, weighing 36 pounds, who was rescued alongside his siblings, and is ready to find his forever home Grover may be small, but he's got big dog spirit, and a Labrador personality! He loves chasing balls, playing tug of war, fetching and chewing up sticks, and swimming in the baby pool. He is an outdoor boy, and loves sunbathing, or stalking and pouncing on grasshoppers and other bugs. He can spend hours in the bushes chasing lizards. He has done well with all other dogs he has met, and all humans he has met including kids. He does not care for cats and would do better in a home without cats. Grover is house and crate trained. He sleeps quietly in his crate at night, and can be left alone up to 6-8 hours and will snooze or entertain himself chewing on toys. When he is tired he melts into his human's lap for snuggles, and rolls on his back for tummy scratches. With his delightful mix of playfulness and affection, Grover is sure to capture your heart from the moment you meet him. He loves exploring his surroundings, playing with toys, and cuddling up for some quality snuggle time. Story
We have a transport trip on 7/27/24 to NorCal and OR and would love to add him to our trip for the right home! Meet my most handsome and sweetest boy Charlie! He is a 6 month old purebred creamy white colored golden retriever. He weighs 35 lbs, and is at a very healthy weight. He is expected to be around 60 lbs full grown. He is doing PHENOMENAL at house training, and as most boys needs a bit of reminding and encouragement here and there but for the most part he totally gets what we are asking of him and is happy to see us happy โค๏ธ He is crate trained, and will sleep in a crate at night if you desire, or to nap during the day in. He does enjoy lounging on a dog bed in the room or under your bed if high enough (I think he likes it under there because it's dark, and cool.) He is NOT a barker, unless he needs something and that typically only happens when he is in the crate and needs to go out to potty otherwise he is rather quite, and laid back especially in the home. He does love to play outdoors and will run around to his hearts desire if it's not to hot otherwise he is a total air conditioner kinda guy ๐Ÿ˜‚ He is young, and full of life, but enjoys literally just being a part of YOUR life, however that looks day to day. He is working on leash training, and is getting better as it's been very hot so his only training has been around our home when it's cool outside. He is WONDERFUL with all dogs, and cats alike as he grew up with cats prior to coming to us and well he is just a puppy who LOVES to LOVE so I'm sure any and all animals would be welcomed into his heart unconditionally ๐Ÿ’™ He loves everyone he meets, and tries to act shy at first but I assure you it's a ruse ๐Ÿ˜‚ I know he secretly wants to lay in your lap for belly rubs but is just trying to figure out how to do it incognito so he can just skip the introductions ๐Ÿ™ƒ He is so goofy, and such a character that it's EASY to LOVE him just the way he is ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™ His prior owners owned Mom and Dad, and mom became pregnant before they were able to spay her. They rehomed all her puppies, and decided to keep Charlie because of his beautiful personality but due to perosnal reasons beyond their control they could no longer keep him ๐Ÿ˜ข They reached out to us, and asked us to please take him in and find him a home as wonderful as him and we of course agreed ๐Ÿ’™ His adoption fee along with its breakdown is on our website at breadoflifek9refuge.org under his listing. It covers his vetting, time, care, and training since with us. He is current on all vaccines, microchipped, has been thourely examined and cleared by our vet who is also sending a health certificate that will go home with him prior to his adoption. No, he is not neutered. He is much to young, and it's best to wait for him to fully mature prior to sterilization so he will be going home on a neuter contract. We did spay, and neuter both of his parents in turn of him coming to us, so as always part of your contribution to his adoption fee will go back into his rescue as a whole by making sure his parents were taken care of even though they didn't come to us here๐Ÿ’™โค๏ธ
