Story
Hi, I'm Oakley! I have so much love to share and loads of energy to match. My happy place is in the great outdoors where I can run and play with my favorite people and my favorite toys. I'm a loyal guy! I promise that once I get to know you, I'll love you unconditionally. I can get overwhelmed when meeting new people, especially men in hats. I learn best from strong corrections and would thrive with an owner who is eager to further my training so I can be my best self. I can't wait to find my forever home. If it could be with you, come meet me!

Story
A Ray of Sunshine all year round! Meet Sunglow! Sunglow is in a foster home in Spokane, WA and can be transported to your area (see information below in the “Adopting from Path of Hope Rescue” section). Born in June of 2024, Sunglow is a young, female, Labrador Retriever mix puppy with black and white markings and cute freckles on her legs. One of our Crayola crayon orphans, Sunglow traveled from the Brazoria SPCA in Texas to find a new home in the PNW area. We are currently taking applications for Sunglow, and she will be able to go home with an adopter after her spay surgery. Sunglow is a yellow-orange color that appears warm and cheerful, two traits this little pup shares! Mellow, funny and playful, Sunglow has an endearing and social personality. Sunglow adores the children she has met in her foster home (they give great tummy rubs!) and she gets along well with both the younger and older resident dogs. Affectionate and sweet, lap cuddles are a must for this girl. When she isn’t snuggling, Sunglow is an active girl who loves chewing on bones and stuffies and playing fetch. While Sunglow frequently indulges in zoomies with the younger pup, she is very respectful of the senior dog and his boundaries and adjusts her energy level around him. She has a puppy’s curiosity and loves to explore and check out new things, though reflections of herself are a bit perplexing; silly Sunglow will bark at her doppelgänger when she sees it in windows or the stove glass.   Smart and curious, Sunglow is a quick learner. She is crate trained and sleeps through the night; she is progressing through her potty training and has started leash training. Sunglow loves her food and treats, and with the incentive of a reward, acts quickly on her commands. She is figuring out how to take the stairs in her foster home; apparently, she has had little experience with these before! Sunglow’s ideal home? Maybe it is yours, if you have a home with people she can love who will love her in return, take her for walks and provide her with play adventures, and will continue to teach her the skills that will help her grow into a healthy and happy dog. Children and other dogs would be a plus but not a dealbreaker for this ray of sunshine; all she needs is that one person to shower her with affection and share a life with her. Want to meet Sunglow? Fill out an inquiry form or visit our website for more information! What is Path of Hope Rescue’s Adoption Process? Our adoption process takes on average 7-10 days. Begin by completing the online application. EVERY application receives an email response from us (check your spam folder!). Your personal Matchmaker will contact you, help you find your perfect pup match, and guide you through the process. Meet your potential pup at the home of the foster family (the process may differ slightly for long distance adopters). Bring your potential pup home for a no commitment In Home Trial. Long Distance adopters (one hour or more from Spokane) may choose to travel to Spokane to pick up their dog or use our monthly transport option, Puppy Delivery Express, for an additional delivery donation of $250. WANTED. Our two employees and army of volunteers focus on transporting pregnant dogs and puppies from Texas, the number one kill state in America. The dogs we rescue are in poor living conditions and on euthanasia lists in shelters that are inundated with unwanted animals. We want to give these dogs a chance and bring them to the Pacific Northwest to find adoptive, loving homes. We are 100% foster based; our dogs are fostered in loving homes where they are house and crate trained and learn basic obedience and leash skills. Dogs experience socialization opportunities with people, places, and other animals, and they receive the attention required to become well-rounded, healthy, and affectionate dogs that they would not otherwise receive in a shelter environment. Our commitment does not end when the dog is adopted. More than meets the eye! Meet Squawkbox! Squawkbox is in a foster home in Spokane, WA and can be transported to your area (see information below in the “Adopting from Path of Hope Rescue” section). “Fur-st Impressions” are very important! Schedule a meet and greet with Squawkbox before applying to see if he is the perfect fit for your family by emailing us at Fur-stImpressions@pathofhoperescue.com.  A completed Adoption Application will be required after the meet and greet to move forward with Squawkbox’s adoption.  Squawkbox has been available for months, and potential adopters often have concerns about adult rescue dogs having behavior issues or being poorly socialized. Some dogs just get overlooked and the longer a dog is available, the more people start wondering, “what is wrong with this dog?” We understand this is a concern, and that is why we assign every applicant their own personal Matchmaker to ensure this dog is right for your family. Squawkbox may take his name from a Decepticon in the Transformers lore, but this loyal pup is one of the good guys. Goofy, cuddly, smart, loving, and playful, Squawkbox lives to be with his people and to please them. Squawkbox loves to sleep by you or on you. Cuddling isn't always good enough; sometimes, he will get up and just flop across you.  Belly rubs and back scratches? Yes, please! Add in a game of fetch and a walk, and he will be your friend and protector for life. Squawkbox does well with other dogs, but he needs a home without kids. We would cat test him with any felines you might have in your home. There’s more to this dog than meets the eye! Squawkbox has had extensive obedience training (courtesy of one of his fosters, Courtney of Courtney’s Canine College), and this smart boy has all the skills: come, sit, stay, down, shake, spin, speak, whisper, dance, and place. His heel and leash walking are on point (he is a joy to walk) and his recall is exemplary – he may be the best trained dog we have had in the rescue. He loves to work and enjoys training; it is a fun game for him. Squawkbox is even trained to walk on a treadmill! Squawkbox had developed an undesirable habit of getting worked up when new people entered the house. This is where that amazing training comes into play. When greeting new people, Squawkbox is directed to his 'place' and given time to calm down. After a few minutes in his designated “place”, he will be ready to greet anyone with full body wiggles! Squawkbox’s ideal home? An active adult one, where he would get lots of fetch games, walks, and cuddles and love. An adopter willing to continue and reinforce his training to ensure he has the skills that will make him a well-rounded dog. A home where he can let his goofy, playful, exuberant, and confident nature shine and embrace his people with all his heart.  Squawkbox is a lovable sweetheart who will require training with his new adopter to help with his quirks (and to make the most of those skills he has!). We know that quality training can be a costly investment, so to help alleviate that cost, we are waiving our normal $450 minimum adoption donation so you can put that towards training instead. Story
A puppy with joie de vivre! Meet Thistle! Thistle (an orphan now part of our Crayola litter) is in a foster home in Spokane, WA and can be transported to your area (see information in the “Adoption from Path of Hope Rescue” section below). Born on or about May 15, 2024, Thistle is a black, mixed breed puppy with a short coat, floppy ears, the cutest little white toes, and soulful eyes.  A rescue from a Texas shelter, this delightful puppy is brimming with joie de vivre (an exuberant enjoyment of life). We expect Thistle to be a medium size adult dog in the 40-60 lb. range. Sweet, friendly, and affectionate, Thistle loves to snuggle up with you at the end of a busy, active day and shower you with kisses. Thistle is a typical, joyful, active puppy who loves playing with sticks much bigger than he is. He will contentedly drag his sticks around the yard in a game only he understands. A happy-go-lucky puppy with a social personality, Thistle loves everyone he meets (adults, children, and other dogs) and wants nothing more than to play and snuggle with you. In the clumsy puppy stage, Thistle tends to barrel his way through life, all long legs and energy. He overflows with optimism and is convinced that all it takes is one more play bow to get his foster’s older dog to join him in his shenanigans (she may have told him off 50 times, but he knows that 51st try will win her over!). Now that he has gotten over his fear of it, Thistle will chase the foster’s cat, but he is learning to temper his exuberance around it.   Thistle is working on his skills. He spends several hours at a time in his crate, sleeps through the night, and is almost potty trained, giving cues when he needs to go outside. Thistle has started leash and obedience training. He knows his basic commands with a reward incentive and has good recall skills. Thistle is very food motivated and a good candidate to learn tricks or agility. Thistle’s ideal home? Thistle would thrive in an active home where he would get daily walks and adventures suited to his energy level. While he would thrive as an only dog, another dog who would romp and play with him would make him deliriously happy. Thistle would love people to cherish, to snuggle with, and who will ensure he learns the skills that will make him a happy and well-rounded dog. Want to meet Thistle? Meet mama Emery! Emery is in a foster home in Spokane, WA and can be transported to your area (see “Adopting from Path of Hope Rescue” below). “Fur-st Impressions” are very important! Schedule a meet and greet with Emery before applying to see if she is the perfect fit for your family by emailing us at Fur-stImpressions@pathofhoperescue.com.  A completed Adoption Application will be required after the meet and greet to move forward with Emery’s adoption. Friendly, funny, athletic and affectionate, lovely Emery is a smaller dog at about 31 pounds (born in June of 2022, she is at her adult size). We believe she is a Labrador retriever mix, and she has soft black fur and gentle, amber eyes. Emery loves the older children she has met in her foster home and quickly became BFFs with the resident dog (romping together is a favorite pastime for this medium energy girl). She hasn’t been cat tested yet, but we will let you know once she has. Emery is quite possibly the sweetest girl you will ever meet; she is full of spunk, love, joy, and happiness.  Snuggles, giving kisses, and toys top her list of favorite things.  This girl is a survivor and has the most grateful and thankful spirit you will ever meet.  If you follow our social media, you may be familiar with Emery’s story. She was found pregnant and running the streets of New Mexico by a kind couple who took her to a rescue. We committed to taking her and her five babies (the Nail Salon litter). Upon their arrival in Spokane, it was quickly apparent that some of the pups and Emery were unwell. Testing revealed that three of the pups and their mother were infected with the distemper virus, an often-fatal disease. The three ill pups succumbed to distemper; Emery (with the loving care of her foster) was able to prevail against the virus.  Recently testing free of distemper, she celebrated with a pup cup!  While Emery has a couple of residual effects from her distemper battle, they will not impede her ability to live a rich and full life. She has a slight tremor that comes and goes but does not seem to bother her at all; she will have some issues with the enamel on her teeth for the remainder of her life; and she has a dry nose that can be managed with ointment. Now healthy and bright eyed again, she is an active, confident, loving, and playful girl looking to make up for the time she lost while ill. Emery is a smart girl who has been working on her skills while recovering. She is potty and crate trained and walks well on a leash. She sleeps through the night and is quite content to spend time on her own. She will start learning her basic obedience commands shortly. Emery’s ideal home? This resilient survivor will be the perfect addition to any home. Affectionate, snuggly, and gentle, she seeks a family to love who will love her in return, provide her with walks and play adventures, and perhaps offer playmates in the form of kids or other dogs. Does this sound like your home? Want to meet Emery? Email us to set up a Fur-st Impression meet and greet! What is Path of Hope’s Adoption Process? Our adoption process takes on average 7-10 days. Story
Summit is an 11 month old yellow lab. He doesn't realize how big he is :) He is goofy and so very clumsy. He has the potential to be an incredible dog. He needs training. He needs someone where he is their world. He would be a great "only child." He needs the most attention and gets very sad if he isn't. He is wonderful with kids other than he is a jumper, but has greatly improved. He is very potty trained, crate trained, leash trained and can sit, fetch, stay and loves water. He is picky about his toys, he likes certain ones. He doesn't ruin our stuff but if the kids leave toys in the yard he will chew them up. We've had a huge life change and it's not fair to Summit. He doesn't get the attention he needs and wants. He deserves more. Our other dog passed away and since then our kids just can't bond with Summit and Summit needs that. Please ask any questions.

Story
Lassen is a sweet and mild small mixed breed dog born on 03/22/2023. She originally came to Murci's Mission as a puppy and has been adopted for over a year. She was recently returned due to escalating unrest between her and the other resident dog in her adopter's home.  Lassen is a loving dog and is safe with cats. She has a huge soft spot for kids and feels safe with them. Unfortunately, severe tension and multiple instances of fighting in her prior home has left her feeling intensely overwhelmed and insecure around other dogs, so she would only be comfortable in a home with an exceptionally docile and socially skillful dog who had the self control and patience to give Lassen as much space as needed to feel secure.  Lassen is leash and crate trained, and she is house trained. She rides ok in the car. Overall, she lost a lot of social progress over the last year and will need someone with at least some degree of patience to help her come back out of the shell that she was very much out of as a puppy.  Lassen is DNA tested. Results are below.  https://my.embarkvet.com/dog/teton26?utm_campaign=cns_ref_dog_pub_profile&utm_medium=other&utm_source=embark Lassen comes spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and dewormed. Her adoption fee is $200 andincludes her leash, collar, ID tag, food sample, and medical records. To be considered to adopt, please begin by visiting www.murcismission.org and send in an application.  Thank you for checking out our girl.  ##1714976##

Story
STEVEN  This brave canine hasn’t had it easy in life, running loose and fending for himself for about a month before he was finally rescued. Initially, he was terrified of humans, which is understandable. When we brought him home, our sweet boy immediately revealed his true nature, showing us just how special he truly is. Despite the hardships he faced, he has become the epitome of love and affection.  He adores snuggles! There is nothing he loves more than curling up in your lap for some quality cuddle time. Prepare for your heart to melt as his big, soulful eyes gaze up at you with pure adoration! To keep this clever canine entertained, all you need is a few toys and some bones. He's always up for a game of fetch or a chew session, and his goofy energy will give you regular laughs.Plus, his amazing compatibility with other dogs means he would be an excellent addition to a multi-pet household, bringing harmony and wagging tails all around. Steven is perfect in every way, from his adorable appearance to his heart of gold & will come neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations. He is approximately 10 months old and weighs roughly 32 pounds. He is good with kids and cats.  ##1858448##

Story
Whitey was born July 5, 2020. I got her when she was about 6 weeks old from MT. She is a smart, loving dog yet still very hyper and too demanding for me at this time. All is wants is loving interaction with people; to run in a large yard and play fetch; be in a house where she can freely roam. Whitey needs little work on her manners but really is well behaved and listens well. I am leaving the area and need to find a good home for her, with lots of love and attention. She does well with medium dogs or bigger, but the tiny dogs seem to get to aggressive around her and she doesn't know how to act. She rides well in vehicles and loves to run in wide empty places. She behaves well with leash on but prefers to walk beside you without one on. Like I said she listens well and just wants to please. Whitey is in Spokane and not Rathdrum as profile says fyi

**DOG NOT AT KHS - CONTACT FOSTER - NUMBER BELOW**Only rarely does one encounter someone who always exudes positive energy and happiness. If you are looking for that sweet little ray of sunshine, meet Sir Wigglesworth, known to his friends as Wiggles. He is 3 years old and approx. 65lb. Being a rescue, his lineage is unknown, but he appears to be a Boston/Lab mix. He is the ray of sunshine that brightens up even the cloudiest day for those around him.Wiggles is intelligent, energetic, sweet and a super happy dog. He is trained to walk on a leash and on a treadmill. He is potty trained, kennel trained and knows all the basic commands. He loves to fetch a ball and is very good at it. He even taught himself how to play fetch alone by flinging his ball down the hill so he could chase it!Wiggles needs a clear line for rules and boundaries. Like every intelligent dog, he needs lots of engagement and interaction.Wiggles gets along with men, but absolutely loves women. He needs a home with NO cats or small children. He would do best in a home where he is not left kenneled for more than 4-6hrs at a time. He is very good in his kennel but if he stays in there too long he needs a lot more enrichment when he comes out or he will get frustrated.Wiggles gets along with most other dogs with supervision and guidance until they get to know each other . He would do best with a female dog of a similar size. Smaller or larger dogs might be OK with more introduction. He needs a tall fenced yard for safety and to get the zoomies out. He can easily jump over a 4 feet so a 6 foot fence is recommended. In general he isn't a runner but occasionally will hop over a boundary when distracted by something on the other side. His person would need to like training. Wiggles loves to learn new things and does best when he is challenged mentally. He is quite the sprinter so would be good at Flyball or agility. Once he knows you, he is affectionate and always looks for kisses and loves being close. He is currently being boarded in a volunteer's home. He was returned after a year due to a change in life circumstances for the previous owner. Londa 208 651-4806.

Story
Hey! My name is Butch! I came in through animal control with some issues with my sensitive skin. My friends at CAC have been taking such good care of me and helping me grow my hair back though. I really love to play ball, Go for walks and Car rides! Even though I can be an active boy, I do enjoy some snuggle time with my humans. I have done well with the dogs I have met but we aren't sure how I will do in a home that has cats or younger children.

These pups are in Spokane, Washington too!

Story
Hi, I'm Oso! Don't be intimidated by my size, I'm a gentle giant! I love going on nice, long walks where I can stop and smell all the exciting things around me. I'm a cuddle bug and am always waiting for someone to give me lots of belly rubs and kisses! While I don't love car rides, I always try my best to be super brave and try my best, so I appreciate you being patient with me! I can become overwhelmed easily, especially around loud noises or when crated. I would love an owner who will be patient with me as I adjust to new environments. I can't wait to find my forever family who will love me for who I am, an adorable, goofy pup. Come say hi!
