Story
Gizmo is a sweet and social 10 year old boy who is looking for a home that will give him lots of love and attention. He has never been violent, gets along with everyone, and loves to play and cuddle. Gizmo has severe separation anxiety, so we are looking for owners who work from home most of the week, has another dog/cat who will play with him and are familiar with dogs who have anxiety. We also want to keep a relationship with his new owners, so we can visit him throughout the rest of his life.

Story
Squash is at our Bucktown Adoption Center (2144 N. Wood St.) You can visit our Adoption Center anytime during open hours, no appointment needed. Squash is: Neutered: Yes! Up to date on vaccines: Yes! Microchipped: Yes! Our microchips will automatically register when an adoption is finalized More about Squash: Housebroken: Doing well overall! Crate trained: Squash does best free-roaming in a safeguarded (no access to stairs, trip hazards etc) space when home alone. Leash walking: He has seemed fearful on leash and would likely do best with access to a fenced yard Dog social: He lives with respectful dogs in his foster home and has done well in co-existing peacefully with them Cat social: Unknown Kid friendly: Unknown, but he may be most comfortable with slightly older kids given his limited vision Squash likes: - Napping in a cozy spot - Snacktime - Building trust with his people Squash is a super laid back guy, but is still adjusting to all of the newness around him...and to navigating the world with limited vision. He is very sweet and working hard to open up as he acclimates to his new environment, and would appreciate a patient adopter who can help him along the way! Squash has been diagnosed with Cushing’s Disease, which is a chronic disease that will likely require lifelong medication to manage it. He had his right eye removed while in our care, and is suspected to have little or no vision in his remaining left eye. Squash's adoption fee has been sponsored by a generous supporter, and he is eager to find a comfy home where he can blossom! Next steps: Email adopt@onetail.org with questions, or submit an application online and we'll be in touch to schedule a meeting: https://www.onetail.org/apply-to-adopt/ *** Our adoption application stays on file for one year and can apply to any dog in our program. Once the app is submitted you will receive an email within 48-72 hours. For additional questions, email adopt@onetail.org ***

Story
Bentley is a sensitive but sweet boy who is making great strides in his foster home. Once you earn his trust, he becomes a sweet shadow that loves to always be next to you. He loves sitting on your lap and chewing his bone on your foot. He loves the snow and being chased by the pack when he’s playful. His foster mom said it took about 3 to 4 days for him to feel safe and to be able to be introduced fully to the other dogs in the house. When he’s scared, he gets reactive. So he will need some time and patience when he settles into a new home. He does react when you try to take things from him that he shouldn’t have. But, he is very treat motivated, so simply shaking a bag of treats will get his attention to give up what he has that he shouldn't. He loves to play with toys and with other dogs, once he gets comfortable with them. He does bark at sounds and at the neighbor dogs through the fence. He was reactive to sounds when he first got to his foster home and ran to the door and nervously barked every time he heard a sound, but he has since stopped that since he feels safe. He just needs a little patience to feel comfortable. Bentely is fully potty trained and he will go sit and jump at the door when he has to go out. Bentley is ready to find his forever home! ##2621375##

Story
Meet Paloma. She is a Maltese/Poodle mix and has the cutest features of both breeds. Paloma is an older girl (around 10 years old) and like many senior dogs she is pretty set in her ways. She likes her personal space to be hers; she can be a little fiesty when other dogs invade her space, but she does settle down after introductions. She is currently in a foster home with 4 other dogs, so other dogs in the house are ok as long as they can respect her space. She is very loving with her foster mom. She loves to snuggle and get her one on one time, but it takes some time for her to get comfortable. She loves breakfast and dinner time and likes to slowly mosey around the backyard, but is mostly content to hang inside. She does have some minor issues with her back legs (maybe just aging), but she gets around just fine. She is also blind and hard of hearing, but does just fine in her space and exploring her yard, once she has had time to adjust and learn her space. She does respond when other dogs bark, so she does have some hearing. In her golden years, Paloma is looking for a quiet house where she can take nice long naps and snuggle her special someone. If you are looking for a quiet, super relaxed, white, fluffy friend, Paloma is the girl for you. Paloma will need a patient adopter who has the time to give her space to adjust to her new surroundings.  ##2429006##

Story
Noah is a puppy known as a Malchipoo, a maltese/chihuahua and Poodle pup. He is a loving little guy who will start out a bit shy. He was born in a commercial breeding facility and dogs not have the same puppy experiences a dog might have that was born in your home. He wasn't exposed to the same things at an early age. That being said, he is learning and adjusting well now that he is with us. He is a happy guy who loves to play with his mates. He will need house training and regular training like any puppy would. He is best suited for a home rather than an apartment or condo setting. Noah is a little guy causing him to be more fragile, He can't be in a home with little kids but would be fine with older kids. Like all puppies, he will need structure and a patient, loving home. We recommend training for all puppies—not only to give Noah important learning skills, but because you and your puppy will create a stronger bond just by going through the training together. Noah is fully vetted. He has been neutered, received age-appropriate vaccines, and is microchipped. Subsequent vaccines will be at the expense of his adopter. His adoption donation is $600..00. He is on the hunt for his own completely committed family. Little dogs can live to be 20+ years old, so Liam wants to be sure his family is all in for better or for worse! IF INTERESTED IN A PUPPY (UNDER 12 MONTHS): You must have a very flexible work schedule or someone home all day. Puppies need to be let out to potty often. They need socialization, bonding, and training (housetraining and behavioral training). If you work long hours, have a busy social schedule, or are not financially secure, then a puppy is not for you. We adopt in and to the local Chicago metro area. We require home visits. If you would like to apply to be considered as an adoption candidate, please fill out an application for adoption on our website at: https://www.rescuetailsanimalwelfare.org/info/adoption We are all volunteers with full-time jobs. We try to get back to all applicants within 72 hours. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us via email/ Do not call. There is no one to answer a phone, RescueTailsAnimalWelfare@gmail.com. Rescue Tails Animal Welfare is an in home volunteer foster based rescue. We are not a brick and mortar. There is no building to visit If you aren’t looking to adopt but still would like to help, please consider a donation for his food, housing, and veterinary care.
